you can not buy an assault weapon( select fire or full auto) in the us without a special license. this a long drawn out proccess and very expensive ,you can slip over the border and pick up fullauto ak47's for around 500$ american lots and lots of them come in to mexico via guatamala. the atf is just another freedom infringing bunch of beurocrats justifing their jobs . There's more, but the real problem was that Calderon went after the cartels with the army, which was neither trained or prepared to do law enforcement work. The cartels fought back with bloody results. |

I'm not necessarily saying pack it in, I just don't know that there's actually a solution. Contractors are always going to need cheap, dependable labor. Somebody's gotta pick grapes.
That's the less "nefarious" side of illegal border crossing. Where the violence comes in, obviously, is with the drugs. That's by no means limited to illegal aliens, either. I think if you could get a quarter of pot to go with your six pack at 7-Eleven we might at least have a shot of making it solely a domestic problem rather than an intentional one, but that'd involve legalizing damn near every illegal drug out there, and no one's going to do that. Even I don't want to do that, and I think the milder stuff like weed and 'shrooms ought to be legal.
I really don't know that there's an answer. The cost of policing the entire border would be prohibitive, in the "it's just never going to happen" range, and I think that's the only way you could possibly shut it down.

Fully automatic weapons have been illegal in America since the thirties. The law was named after Al Capone who used Thompson machine guns while law enforcement used 38 cal revolvers. This is when the J. Edgar Hoover rule came into effect. Your opponent brings a knife, you bring a gun. If he brings a gun, you bring a bigger gun. The only people since, owning full autus are dealers with special permits that are not easy to attain and outlaws who get them anywhere on the black market. Why are the vast majority of these weapons AK47s? The last time I checked these are not made in America. Small details I realize baffle liberals, but answer the question. China makes these faster than lead based toys. I think I would pay a little more attention to Hezbollah coming across the southern border with God knows what in their suitcases. It takes a quart container of serin gas concentrated in powder form to wipe out a quarter million people if used correctly. Could somebody please send me the map quest directions to the stores where the Mexicans buy their fully automatic AK's and M4's. I'd like one. The best M4 I could find is semi-automatic only (obviously) has a silly looking muzzle break and a telescoping butt stock that doesn't telescope. How any of that makes it any less effective, I don't know, but the liberals have to dream up and pass stupid pointless laws, I mean they gotta make a living too right? I do love my M1A (M-14) though, that's just fine being semi-auto.
Really though, what this all boils down to is the fact that liberals are completely ignorant when it comes to firearms because they're scared s*%tless of them because guns are evil you see, especially those assault rifles! You see a .308" fired from an M1A will kill you a lot worse than a .308" fired from a bolt action because the M1A's an evil assault weapon. (Even though in reality the bolt action will hit a little bit harder because it's got a little better muzzle velocity, but I'm speaking a different language to liberals right now LOL) The point is they don't know an M4 from a FNC. Most of them don't even know the difference between fully and semi-automatic. All they know is that if it looks like something from a movie it must be an assault rifle and is therefor evil. Since we're the only country on Earth barbarous enough to still sell these weapons they must be comming from the U.S. and if the ATF and Obama say so then the discussion's over as far as they're concerned.
To everyone else out there that shoots; spread the sport! Introduce people to it. Chances are they'll like it, then maybe they'll talk to other people about it, so on and so forth.
