McCain Might Befefit From This

The obvious benefit this little story could give John McCain is that it might make conservatives like McCain more. After all, being attacked by the New York Times (read: elite liberal media) is a badge of honor for a Republican ...
But the other thing it could do is make him immune to future scandals.
When the "Rathergate" allegations about Bush's forged memos turned out to be bogus, it not only undermined the specific documents -- it actually negated all the stories about Bush's Air National Guard Service.
The point is; if this thinly sourced story is proven to be false, it might actually make McCain somewhat bullet-proof.

In 2001 he formed the "Reform Institute" inorder to receive donations from George Soros and Terresa Heinz Kerry. Juan Hernandez became his "Hispanic Outreach Director" and Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post has served on the Institutes advisory board since it's creation!
Juan Hernandez has been on the campaign trail with McCain from the begining, as McAmnesty promisses border security?.....Ha-Ha.
The guy makes "Dubya" look like a mental giant! Not only is he NOT a conservative, but he isn't even a decent republican!......The Dems will dig up enough dirt to turn his own mother against him. |

Really classy there, Steve-o. I missed the letterhead where you're named I guess as the High Mugwump of Who's a conservative society? Or are you just another McCain lickspittle with sour grapes that we're not lining up behind your suckball candidate? You never answered PC's question. McCain doesn't offer conservatives anything except empty promises..and there's nothing binding on campaign promises. So there is no trust...so you can hawk and spit, and lick Mccain and the GOP's shoes all you want. McCain was a bad choice and everyone is going to pay for it come November, including those of us who don't vote for him. As far as this scandal goes, I still ask..who cares? The NYt slimed a Republican..I guess that makes today..Thursday. It happens all the time. Lickspittles like Steve-o are going to vote for McCain anyway, whether it's true or not. People like myself have a ton of problems with McCain and whether or not he cheated on his wife, his taxes, or his X-box, makes no difference. I wouldn't vote for him no matter what. So, who's going to have their mind changed by this non scandal? Nobody. Waste of time.

Might be a good point, just think, people don't like it when McCain is picked on. Seems like people voted for him stronger when they thought Romney was doing it! |
|
"...did McCain suddenly decide to care about me as a conservative?"
Poor baby. You are no conservative.
*spit* |
|
|
Mr. McCain has to be able to take heat and survive politically. This is nothing when a potential candidate is scrutinized. How he handles it is everything. |
|
Sorry, but I can't think of a less logical reason to support McCain right now. Maybe I missed something, but did McCain suddenly decide to care about me as a conservative? Did he come out against illegal immigration? Did he apologize for not voting for tax cuts with his hate-the-rich-rhetoric and say he's seen the light? Did he do anything to reach out and cross the aisle over to me?
Nope. Case closed, Matt. |
|
for a good reason to vote for McCain.
Haven't seen one yet. Can't see one on the horizon either.
Where is DNC Joe to try and fed us that bull@#$% that McCain is a conservative and the most electable?
Go DNC Joe!!!!!!!!!!!! |

McCain's got a lot more to to earn my vote than get attacked by the NYT. That doesn't make him any more of a conservative than it makes the Times a respectable newspaper.
Nothing's changed. |

best part:
"After reading the letter, Keller called Gilbey, a British journalist living in New York, and asked her to coffee at the Times cafeteria. Gilbey, at the time, had a reputation as something of a power-dater; her exes included Senator John Kerry and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. An affair ensued, which shocked Keller’s friends. “I felt bad for everyone involved,” says Stephen Engelberg, a former Times reporter. “This was not characteristic behavior at all. I wouldn’t pretend to be Bill’s psychologist, but he didn’t get a red sports car, so …”
and
"Gilbey offers another explanation, related to Keller’s son. “After he fell in love with Tom, he was just falling in love all over the place—with chairs and tables—and when he fell in love with me he didn’t know whether this was actually real or whether he actually loved me or was in love with the world. And, so, you know, we sort of thank Tom.”
"Two years after they met, Gilbey was pregnant, Keller was divorced from Cooper, and he had a new job as managing editor under Joe Lelyveld."

No benefit here...McCain still sucks.

It's just another corollary to another line of defective logic: "conservatives with fall in once they face the choice between a not-perfect candidate and Obama/Hillary". Conservatives aren't buying it. We didn't pick this guy and have been told to take a hike. We're gone. |
|
Well, now that's an interesting viewpoint from the moral values sect, isn't it? I mean, I know that since there is a looooooong list of GOP sex offenders and hypocritical philanderers, I for one would rather not have a someone who was literally in bed with a lobbyist as my president. Never mind the fact that this particular candidate espouses the logic behind campaign finance reform, while apparently carrying on with the enemy of said reform.
Forget for moment his own family - can WE trust this man? I think not. |
|
If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do. 1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands. 2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats. 3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill. 4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.
It's up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.
I will not vote for the latter.
Not even if endorsed or dissed by the New York Times. |

not discoving. I must have had "befefit" on my mind! |
|
|
|
|
Please stop twisting the story (false or true.)I am a conservative. I do not like McCain more. As for "immunity?" Who are you kidding? The liberals media will tear into him like a pack of wild wolves discoving a fresh carcass. |
|
|
True or not, this "scandal" casts a worse light on McCain than the NYT, I think. After all, did this seasoned politician not see this coming; why has he played nice, trusting the NYT all this time, while dissing his allies? Judgment, your name is not McCain. |
