He Can Speak Up When He Wants To
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 10:39 PM
On CNN, Barack Obama characterized John McCain's truthful observation that Hamas would prefer an Obama presidency to a McCain one as "offensive" and "a smear."

Again, one can only wish that Barack had seen fit time to speak up as promptly and forcefully to defend America during the 20 years his pastor was trashing it as he did today to defend himself -- and that he had been as "offended" then as he supposedly is now.

So...

Obama is offended by McCain but not by Wright.

He's offended by a proven American patriot but not by a preacher who wants God to damn America.

That's all I need to know.

Thank you.

And what if....
What if McCain were to say, truthfully, that the vast majority of America's allies around the world would also prefer Obama to McCain? And what happens when Americans begin to appreciate the damage done by Bush to our relations abroad and learn what a huge P.R. bonanza we'll reap by electing McCain's opponent?

Health Care Proposals
The point which is apparently being missed by all of the candidates is that health insurance IS the problem which drives up the cost of health care. We have created a dysfunctional system which encourages health care providers to maximize costs while patients have little or no incentive to make financially responsible decisions. One solution to this problem would be to require (tax free) health insurance plans to include a substantial deductible/copay set-aside which could be rolled over into a personal IRA account if it is not used. This would at least provide some incentive for the patient to consider the cost/benefit of various tests and procedures. What do you think?

And this week...
...Michael Moore was surprised to learn that he's more popular with New Guinea cannibal tribes than Mary Tyler Moore is. He can't figure it out.
