It didn't take long for the green flag to drop in this race.
And, yeah, I know all the Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart fans are out there just waiting to pounce. Bring it on.
There are a couple classic NASCAR moments in the clips for those of you who enjoy that kind of thing. Hope you like them. Hat tip to my friend Andy for help with the clips, Allah for the 402-2 figure, and big thanks to Justin Germany of Campaign Solutions for the great work!
Update: Just a heads-up. I'm headed for home sweet home today, so I'll be on the road for much of the day, but I'll be back in the evening. The road oughtta be fun.

Stock Car racing was huge when I was growing up in far northern Minnesota back in the 60's...but taking a girl to it was a last date...they had so common sense, and it didn't take long for me to catch on. |

We can debate this if you like but the Coast Guard was in place and rescuing people prior to the hurricane and immediately after. They rescued over 150,000 people. It was a rescue operation that the rest of the world is studying to emmulate.
Hey Jet-Pilot, read the reports, had the 3000 buses controlled by Ray Nagin gone through the neighborhoods and picked up the needy there would have been no "tragedy".

I noticed the YOUTUBE people took it off the British feed. (The bottom-right corner had a North American Sports Network logo; NASN is a British network which airs American sporting events in the UK. The 1999 Martinsville incident was straight Eurosport feed, when they had rights in Europe. In 2007, ESPN International has international rights.)

GWB knew it was a bad storm (and he lied about it), but even after the fact they did nothing for days. I personally don't think the Fed Gov can be counted on. Individuals need to cover their own back sides, never rely on Gov, especially this administration. I have no fear of being contradicted when I say, THIS WAS A TOTAL FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP ALL AROUND, ESPECIALLY BUSH. The GOP had full control. Nuff said. BTW if the Dems where in charge I would be as critical of them. That is the independant part.

Don't Hey me, I'm a Boeing 767 Captain and know what leadership is. Ray Nagin was IN OVER HIS HEAD. No argument. Governor Blanco was also overwhelmed and did not ask for help or know what to ask for. It was a natural disaster of epic proportion beyond anyone's control, BUT EVERY ONE had a part F-ing it up, from Bush, Condi, Homeland Security, FEMA "Heckava job Brownie", Lousiana Governor and N.O. Mayor. What did Bush do ? He made an inspiring flyover of the gulf-coast a few days later, and later he took no responsibility. Lack of leadership again. Sue me. I said it. If you read my blog on a regular basis, you'd see that I've both criticized Republicans for electing Lott, and advised the Democrats to work with their Blue Dog faction to become a more centrist party because I think it'd probably be good for the country.
