Scott McClellan's Opportunistic Book
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 7:27 AM
Former Bush press secretary Scott McClellan -- easily the least effective of Bush's spokesmen -- has written a book that bashes Bush.

Whatever his other faults, clearly, Bush is guilty of is surrounding himself with too many staffers and advisers like McClellan.

Bush's legacy has been badly damaged by his staffing decisions, which included too many "loyal" Texans, too many liberals, and too many light-weights.

In this case, McClellan fits all three categories.

Try your nonsense on the RNC's website. Either your very very new, illiterate, or just a tool to think this is the home of Republican apologists. This is a home of CONSERVATIVE thought. Not for RNC lickspittles.

We are always Americans first.

Obviously, you've also missed the venom that gets spewed at Dick Morris around here too.

Scott the Coward
As we get older,we often forget important life lessons we learn as children in grade school. For instance, we learn there are those that allways try to push other people around, and how to deal with it. We also learn some people are cowards. I knew Scott Mc Clellan was a coward when I saw him at press breifings being bullied by a bunch of snide punks of the press. There are some very important things to remember about cowards. Most important, NEVER TRUST A COWARD,no matter how harmless they seem. They will betray you, and stab you in the back without a trace of conscience, regardless of how much of a true and loyal friend youv,e been to them. The reason for this is because THEY HAVE NO HONOR. Some of the things we learn growing up are timeless and are proven out throughout our lifetime.

This has been the problem from the beginning. Early on when he reached out to Kennedy I knew we were in trouble. He's too nice and too loyal. I'd rather he spent more time vetoing bills and slamming idiots in Washington.

Didn't you idiots get the memo? The "Bush lied" line was worn out several years ago. If President Bush lied, so did the majority of congress and the intelligence services of at least 5 nations.

The infamous "16 words" were not written by a Bush speechwriter, they were a direct quote from a British intelligence report.

Quick history lesson for you drooling moonbats....Saddam did have WMD. He used them, against Iran & his own citizens....if i were to shoot my neighbor, then have years & years before the police came, i could very easily hide my gun. Or ship it off to a friendly neighbor. (Syria)

I really don't see how any conservative can support Bush, EXCEPT out of loyalty. Starting unnecessary wars is NOT conservative. Out of control spending is NOT conservative. Outsourcing military jobs to no-bid private corporations is NOT conservative. And putting one's head in the sand in the face of looming economic and environmental challenges is simply incompetent. Just about his only George Bush is most definitely not going to be a hero for future conservatives, he will be the albatross around their necks for years to come.

Gutless Wonders
Attention, attention, Fleetw1978: You don't speak for the nation. Stunning, I know; just take deep breaths.
If it were possible to put all the isolationist, Code Pink, Obambi-ites in Iraq under Hussein, or in New Orleans pre-Katrina, would be enlightening. To this day they would be singing the praises of Saddam or defending their Constitutional right to live in hurricane alley at "How many feet below sea level"? Given the choice, today is when living in Iraq has the prospect of a brighter future. The way liberals talk the Fed should have evacuated New Orleans decades ago and hauled in fill dirt for years until it was sitting above sea level. No other solution insures against a strong hurricane to this day. You would have to evacuate the residents and rebuild the city. Where would the drunks and perverts cavort in public while the rest of us celebrate Easter?
Not remembering 9/11 and the widely held disgust with the U.N. to defuse any real or perceived threats to freedom is a problem for the lib-appeasers who have convenient memory lapses or were not born yet. (Watch "Hotel Rhawanda". Look at the headline today about the total ineptness of the U.N.)
These same memory lapses and total ignorance of American history explains how anyone can label President Bush the worst president ever. There have been arguably better, but he has not ignored the decades long attacks on America and Americans abroad. He has also lowered taxes and appointed stellar supreme court judges. Adding to that the positive changes to the middle east because of our invasion of Iraq, there is no question with a liberal president the opposite is true and predictable for the future.
The liberals lie constantly to gain political power. With them, the ends justify the means. With me, the cost is too high to have God hating, faithless fear mongers creating a bigger and more tyrannical government.
Tom writes: Wednesday, May, 28, 2008 4:42 PM
Bush legacy...just the beginning...
Bush's eight year track record of one blundering disaster after another is mind boggling. Bush stole the 2000 election, then used fear and hate mongering to win in 2004. Bush's first four years will be remembered by an attack on the American homeland, with the leader of that attack still at large and living prosperously in Pakistan. His first term will also be remembered for out of control fiscal policy, running up the national debt to totals unheard of, and the republicans in Congress and close to him that have abused their office to further their own political and ideological agendas. Bush's second term will be remembered for a horrific and inexcusable response to Hurricane Katrina, abandoning the people of New Orleans when they were in desperate need of help and assistance. Still to this day the levy system is no better than before Katrina hit. Bush is a scumbag for allowing the mess in New Orleans to drag on the way it has. Bush's second term will be remembered as one scandal after another, a major blundering of American diplomacy and moral standing in the world. Illegally torturing prisoners of war. Outing a CIA agent, and then lying to cover it up. Bush's presidency will also be remembered by firing and/or personal attacking any member of the military, his office, and/or public that disagrees with his decision making. Bush will be remembered as the President who took a surplus and lead the country to the toilet. Bush's presidency will be remembered for lying to the American people to back his claim for invasion of Iraq. Bush's presidency will be remembered for veto important legislation that would help our military personnel, children, and many other important bills that he vetoed because of his unwillingness and lack of sensitivity for the American average joe.

Thank God his term is coming to a close. Hopefully, when his last day is in office he will get the same treatment he received when he took office - a whole lot of booing.

He was raised by his mother, Carole Keeton McClelland Rylander Strayhorn, who was a Democrat when it was popular, a Republican when it was popular and then an Independent when it was popular just to try to win an election. These people are in business for themselves only! Loyalty? I think not. It's all about power and money for this family.

Besides, Scott is the worst Press Secretary the USA has ever known. What a joke his book is! What a tool! I wonder how much the Democrat Party paid him for selling his soul????

Attacking the mesenger
Devastating, Mr. Lewis. McClellan must be a "liberal" and a "light-weight" if he actually has the temerity to suggest that this president and his administration have been deeply flawed. But you provide an all-too-typical example of the conservative tendency to attack the messenger rather than thoughtfully consider whether the messenger might have something worthy to say.

The end of the GOP as we know it
Seems like the roosters are coming home boyz and girlz. The neocons and the Bushie loyalists are eating thier young. 8 yrs ago the GOP got the chance of a lifetime. THe house, senate, White house, and the supreme court all leaning to the right. What did they do with thier new found majority? They killed it. And probably buried it for dead for at least 12 to 20 yrs. Bill lied about the blue dress and the oral sex, but nobody died because of his erections. In the case of "W" and the lies that led us to war, over 4000 men and women have died because of the lies or the incompetence. Either way, this nation will never forgive the GOP for this war, the Katrina debacle, or the current and seemingly neverending economic crisis. Good luck to Mcsame and any republican running for office in 2008.

Future Historians
Scott McClellan's book has done the public and future historians a service. He has confirmed what old school conservatives have been writing and saying about the Bush administration for the past five years. He surrounded himself with a bunch of utopian Trotskyites.

"Bush's real motivation for war

The president's real motivation for the war, he said, was to transform the Middle East to ensure an enduring peace in the region. But the White House effort to sell the war as necessary due to the stated threat posed by Saddam Hussein was needed because "Bush and his advisers knew that the American people would almost certainly not support a war launched primarily for the ambitions purpose of transforming the Middle East," McClellan wrote."

http://www.ajc.com/meetro/content/news/stories/2008/05/27/m cclellanbook_0527.html

Now go back five years to April 5, 2003. Israeli Journalist Ari Shavit writes

"The war in Iraq was conceived by 25 neoconservative intellectuals, most of them Jewish, who are pushing President Bush to change the course of history. Two of them, journalists William Kristol and Charles Krauthammer, say it's possible

Charles Krauthammer:

It's an ambitious experiment, Krauthammer admits, maybe even utopian, but not unrealistic. After all, it is inconceivable to accept the racist assumption that the Arabs are different from all other human beings, that the Arabs are incapable of conducting a democratic way of life.

About Dick Morris, publicity hound.
Ryan01: I'm with you regarding Morris. As a Conservative from my late 30's, I still cannot get happy at how Dick Morris takes every opportunity to slam the Clintons. It's damned tiresome! It seems his whole reason for living is to deride Bill and Hillary Clinton and though I tune in to the usual right-wing TV shows, I tune Morris out because he contorts every issue to find a way, in the latest cases, to hurt Hillary Clinton. There's no merit in what he says. I won't vote for her, nor would I vote Democrat for Presidency, that's been decided, but enough of Dick Morris. He's made himself a celebrity by being a Judas. Who can respect that? I doubt if Scott McClellan will go as far as Dick Morris did, unless he has a personality make-over. Morris is aggressive and that's what keeps him on the air, ad nauseum.

You are correct in a way you don't realize. McCellan should have resigned on the spot and gone to the media the moment he learned the Bush gang was lying to him.

As for the rest of your post the problem with people like you is that you think as a Republican first as verses an American. You're more concern about this hurting your beloved Republican party and to hell with the nation as a whole. There are Democrats who are no better than you. Both of these "party first" mindsets are a plague upon what remains of this republic.
Ralphybouy writes: Wednesday, May, 28, 2008 10:21 AM
Ignorant of History
What people like Kimberly above fail to realize is that the most unpopular and worst modern-day President has been given the liberal-media make-over. Yes, Jimmy Carter is talked about like he was some great peace-maker and expert economic President. He is put out there as someone to look up to.

One year after GWB steps down as President he will also step out of the spotlight and immediately his reputation will go up.

The saddest part is that Democrats seem to garner more loyalty from their staffers than Republicans. Or is it that the lure of getting so much face time on TV Shows what tempts Republicans?

Usually when they are serving Republicans get treated rudely by the press and rarely get much time on the TV Talk circuit while Democrat and anti-GOP books get extended coverage.

McCellan was incompetent, that was clear from the first day he got in front of an antagonistic press and as all dogs do, they knew he was afraid, so they attacked harder and more vicously.

So, McClellan was considered a lying, incompetent boob when he was press secretary and all of sudden he blames Bush for everything and now the press makes him out to be some honest, trustworthy guy?

Remember how Linda Tripp was treated for exposing Clintons shenanigans?

Double-Standards and more proof of a liberal media.
Ryan01 writes: Wednesday, May, 28, 2008 10:13 AM

is bad when a Republican does this, but good when a Democrat like Dick Morris does this to Bill Clinton. Oh, that's the difference, he's a democrat! You members of the Stupid party never cease to amaze me with your hypocrisy. McClellan was ill served by the Bush crime family-- that is to say he was lied to and had his name dragged through the mud. That makes Bush no different from Clinton when it comes to lying.

What this really tells us
Overlooking my relatively negative opinions of President Bush, this type of book is indicative of our current culture.

Scott was given the opportunity of a lifetime- to make a difference, serve his country AND fellow man and create additional opportunities for himself by doing well at his job.

Having been given more opportunity than the vast majority of us will ever see, how does he show his appreciation to his country, his President and his fellow Americans? He complains and takes the easy road to make a quick buck. How liberal of him.

And horridessly typical of our society. What a nasty, selfish and petty culture we live in. You people that support this trash are worse than the perpetrators of such half-truths books - because you actually PAY people like him for their vitriol. McClellan, no future in book writing.
McClellan didn't switch sides. He'd have done the same had he been a Democrat Press Secretary. By venting his sour grapes for the sake of a few pieces of silver, he hasn't increased his stock with Democrats. They may enjoy what he's written plus what the publisher's people felt would add color. But, McClellan will be trusted by no one in the future on either side of Washington politics. He really should have been thankful for his position as Press Secretary, long after a nation realized this guy was in the wrong slot even though Bush kept him. That's called loyalty to a fault on Bush's part. McClellan was so dull and tentative, especially after following a superior Press Secretary, Ari Fleischer, it was a wonder he lasted as long as he did. If Scott hated his job he was free to leave anytime. He was definitely the fellow who stayed too long. Thinking of the other Press Secretaries of the Bush administration, only one stands out for ineptitude, and that is Mr. McClellan.
