Calling A Terrorist Fanatic A Terrorist Fanatic: Columbia's Shame
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 9:39 AM
Iran's fanatic president intends to bully his way to Ground Zero:

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad requested to visit Ground Zero during an upcoming trip to New York. That request was rejected Wednesday. But a source tells Eyewitness News that the decision may not stop him.

A law enforcement source says the Iranian mission to the United Nations has informed the Secret Service that the Iranian president intends to visit Ground Zero Monday at 10 a.m.

The source says regardless of the NYPD's rejection of the request for a Ground Zero tour, Iran's president and his entourage will be accompanied by a Secret Service protective detail, a detail provided to all heads of state when they visit the United States.

As the head of a state sponsor of terror who is supplying weapons and expertise to kill and wound Americans in Iraq, which has supplied Hezbollah with the rockets used to wage indiscriminate war against the civilians of Israel last year, and which has a long record of organizing and directing bloody terrorist assaults across the globe including the attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983.

"God willing, in the near future we will witness the destruction of the corrupt occupier regime," Ahmadinejad proclaimed about Israel in June. In 2005, he claimed that Israel "must be wiped out from the map of the world."  This is the urging of genocide, a violation of all the law of nations.

Ahmadinejad should of course be prevented from going anywhere near the site and accomplishing his propaganda purposes.  Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney have both blasted the idea in the blunt language that it deserves.

Giuliani:

Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring Bin Laden’s son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero – hallowed ground for all Americans – is outrageous."

Romney:

"Ahmadinejad's shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no. It's inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero. This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation. Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him."

A caller to yesterday's show suggested a massive bit of civil disobedience to block the streets around the area, perhaps led by city fire, police and Port Authority personnel, though of course the safety of the people they serve would come first.  The idea of allowing freedom of the city to this fanatic who leads a rogue regime in the search for nukes and  on so many other terrorist enterprizes is disgusting and Mayor Bloomberg and the president need to coordinate a firm response that bluntly communicates that we will not be bullied here or abroad.

UPDATE: Powerline informs us that Columbia University has invited the fanatic to its campus.  Perhaps the university will extend invitations to the families of Americans killed by the highly lethal IEDs Iran has manufacture and smuggled into the county, or even some of the soldiers and Marines wounded by them.  Survivors of those killed in the 1983 barracks bombing or of the 1994 attack in Buenos Aires?

Less than two weeks ago, a U.S. District Court awarded the survivors of the 1983 barracks bombing $2.65 billion dollars in damages.  The president of Columbia, Lee Bollinger, is an accomplished legal scholar so he knows the significance of this judgment  --Iran has been found by our justice system to be responsible for  those killings, and we have the testimony of our senior military officials that they are killing our troops in Iran today.  Inviting this scoundrel is beyond disgusting but underscores the complete vacuity of Columbia's leadership.

Here is Judge Lamberth's ruling from September 9.  Here are the names of the Iranians indicted by Argentine prosecutors.  Here is just one of scores of articles reporting on Iran's attacks against our troops in Iraq.

It is as though Oxford had invited Hitler to speak in 1938.

To help Columbia understand what it is doing, I invite President Bollinger to carefully read Judge Lamberth's September opinion and its detailed litany of the mayhem and death Iran visited on our servicemen and their families in 1983.  Judge Lamberth's conclusion is particularly relevant to the Board of Trustees of Columbia, ultimately responsible for allowing this travesty to unfold:

This Court is sadly aware that there is little it can do to heal the physical wounds and emotional scars suffered by the servicemen in this case and their family members. Though the attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon occurred nearly twenty four years ago from this date, it is clear from the testimony presented to this Court and the special masters that the intense suffering experienced on that day has had a tragically lasting effect on the plaintiffs who have brought this action. The fact that almost 1000 individuals sought redress in this action confirms the sheer number of individuals whose lives were forever altered as a result of this senseless attack on these courageous servicemen.

Indeed, at a time like this and an era such as ours, it is important to acknowledge the selfless courage that these–and all–servicemen demonstrated by choosing to take action and make this world a safer and better place in which to live. The fact that the servicemen in this action made the ultimate sacrifice to pursue such a noble cause only serves to further establish the legacy of these courageous individuals in the annals of history.

Not to be forgotten is the courage demonstrated by the family members who have come forth in bringing this claim. These individuals, whose hearts and souls were forever broken on October 23, 1983, have waited patiently for nearly a quarter of a century for justice to be done, and to be made whole again. And though this Court can neither bring back the husbands, sons, fathers and brothers who were lost in this heinous display of violence, nor undo the tragic events of that day, the law offers a meager attempt to make the surviving family members whole, through seeking monetary damages against those who perpetrated this heinous attack. The Court hopes that this extremely sizeable judgment will serve to aid in the healing process for these plaintiffs, and simultaneously sound an alarm to the defendants that their unlawful attacks on our citizens will not be tolerated.

The alarm the judge hoped to have sounded has clearly not been heard in the halls of Columbia University, which by its invitation honors the official representative of the terrorist state that has caused so much evil.

I think you're on to something. Personally my favorite is the 7.62mm just because it's so widely available and fits so many different rifles. Maybe the President could take a call something like this after the monkey's visit to WTC or Columbia...........

"yes sir mister second in command of Iran, oh good morning, no we don't know what has become of Mr. Ahmedjihad, haven't seen him since he showed up at ground zero. I am sorry for misplacing your leader. Yes sir, of course we'll call you if anything turns up sir. You have a nice day too, thanks for the call."

Tell Bobo that he may, indeed, go to Ground Zero or Columbia Diversity. But set up an IED on the way. Then he'll know what the troops have had to put up with. Amazing that CU will welcome Achmad-i-jihad but throw pies at Anne Coulter and ban the ROTC on campus. Forget the IED; just motor that place! You don't fight a barbarian with "civilized" tactics. There's no such thing as a "fair fight" when you're fighting islamo-terrorists.

To all those advocating. . .
bodily harm to Ahmadinejad:

Actually, let's show him how a free and moral people really behave. Let's simply have thousands upon thousands show up at Ground Zero and quietly, non-violently, stand in his way. And then let's have thousands more show up at Columbia and quietly, non-violently, turn their backs on him. Let's point out how people can responsibly use their freedom to give their opinion. And then let's contrast that to what happens in his society, shall we?

I totally agree with Pastor Bill, however, that the NEXT thing we should do is to deport him and the rest of the UN with him, and tear the building down. I disagree with making the site a garbage dump, though. For one thing, it already IS a garbage dump. For another, we've been wasting that valuable real estate for far too many years now. Let's use it for offices or something that actually brings *benefit* to the world.

Well, since we've been telling the Jews what they really believe for the last 2,000 years, I suppose it's only fair. :-)

IRAN'S HEAD OF STATE'S VISIT
When and if Ahmadinejad visits Ground Zero, his "Secret Service detail" should be made up completely of New York firemen and New York policemen, all armed, of course, to protect the unwelcome little piece of whatever you want to call it.

While there, one could imagine just one more hole in the ground, just big enough for the unwelcome little piece of whatever you want to call it.

That last would be okay except that we would not want to desecrate the ground with whatever you want to call it.

The Confederates used the Bible to justify slavery. The Republican party is dominated by Dixiecrats today. It all started with Willie Horton. How can any one blame them? The Democrats of the North turned their backs on them, and they were homeless until George HW Bush gave them a home. Richard B Russell would be a republican today if he were still alive. A guy over at redstate posted that there are "No real republicans north of the Mason-Dixon line."
Go figure. From a historical stand point, this is totally weird. I miss the old Republican Party. It was a Grand Old Party indeed. Today it's the party of Jeff Davis and Robert E Lee. Life goes on.

How anyone could defend Mahmoud Akmadinejad is beyond me. He deserves a one way ticket to GITMO, some questioning, then the firing squad. The man is sponsoring the terrorist in Iraq that are killing our Service Members. If our Government does nothing when that person sets foot on U.S. soil then they are cowards or they are bought and payed for. Which ever it is you should be afraid for your children.

I hope you don't hold your breath for your temple to be built. This is last thing practical Israeli's ever want to to see happen. The majority of jews are atheist or agnostic. They have no desire for this stupid temple idea. It will only bring them trouble. The temple is a dream of the American rapturites. Out of 2 billion Christians, the rapure nuts are a very small minority indeed. The rapturites are basically a cult. Most jews I know think they are nut jobs, but are very good for tourist business in Israel. It is practical for the Israel's to keep these people around. But hey, if it makes them feel good to believe such a silly myth, go for it!

The Saudi government is a state supporter of terrorism. Our presidents ALL support this extremely brutal regime. Economics comes first. This is the golden rule. It's all part of "The Great Game." Remember the photo of Rumy with Sadam? Get over it. Hero's and Villians are always changing places where we have interests. This kind of stuff has been going on for centuries. Israel is the best puppet we have ever had in the ME. We have a European/American state smack dab in the ME! Brilliant! As long as they keep kissing American booty, as they should, then they will have our full support. They are very important to our interests. They know this, and do as they are told. It's a good arrangement. Why knock it? As Truman said, "There are more Jewish voters than Arab voters." HST was a very practical politician. I find it all quite entertaining.

I know several - I've asked them to contact the fund raising department, and let them know if this goes through, they will make no donations until all personnel in the "chain of command" are gone from the university: regents, president, etc.

Ahmadinejad, mahdaviat & the 12th Imam
The Historian writes: "I am in complete agreement with the listener who suggested a strong show of civil disobedience when the Terrorist attempts to visit ground zero."

he cannot be allowed to go to Ground Zero. Imaigne what would happen if he were killed or injured but demonstrators (or at the hands of his own guard)

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sees himself as AN INSTRUMENT OF mahdaviat WHO will usher in the return of the Hidden Imam.

http://www.danielpipes.org/article/3258

"Iran's president actually relishes a clash with the West in the conviction that it would rekindle the spirit of the Islamic revolution and - who knows - speed up the arrival of the Hidden Imam." (In Twelver Shi'ite doctrine, the Hidden Imam returns just before the appearance of the mahdi.)

Columbia at ground zero with Mahmoud?
Will Columbia's Trustees walk with Ahmadinejad to ground zero to show their solidarity with his fascist, anti-Semite philosophy?
cyndu writes: Thursday, September, 20, 2007 12:53 PM
Best thing we could do....
....is to continue being Americans, and let the networks cover his Columbia visit and other day trips with a split screen showing Britney or Paris Hilton in a burger add on the other 1/2 of the screen.

If given the change to interview him, we should ask him what he thinks about OJ's arrest, or about whether Lindsey will be able to overcome her addiction and save her career.

And we should ask him whether he would be able to work with a Mormon if Mitt were elected president, given that Mormons believe that Christ will directly save the Jews from the destruction of an invading army. This is something that George Stephanopoulos might want to ask.

We should just act naturally - just be ourselves.

Pretty Courageous, If You Ask Me
At least it gives something for Mitt to grandstand about. Its going to be a long election season.

Let him speak ;)
If he is allowed to speak on Columbia's campus, make him appear on Hugh's show.

Lighten up, Hugh
Mahmoud wins whether he goes or doesn't. In fact he probably gets better PR (in the eyes of his world-wide supporters) by being so publicly stymied in his request to go to ground zero. We would do better to mock him, just as the fashion styles of urban youth could better be tamed by mockery than laws against low-riding pants. Imagine if octegenarians started exposing their boxers. Next thing you know, the hip-hop crowd would hoist their pants up over their navels. Someone should greet Mahmoud with a placard reading: "Hey Mahmoud, why you being such a d1ck anyways"?

Columbia
If the University of Columbia actually allows this vermin to speak on it's property we should REVOKE every penny of Federal money it receives. Every Pell grant, every student loan, and every study grant.

This treasonous offer can not go unpunished!

Invite every....
....pig farmer within a hundred miles to tour the site with him....along with their pigs.

Also invite some former Iran hostages from 1980. They seem to think they've already met.

Chances are the judgement is not met
If he comes to Columbia, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should be deposed before he leaves. Does diplomatic immunity extend to areas out side the UN precincts for a country with whom we have no diplomatic relations? How about a Colorado bout on his limo and a summons to be deposed.

Ground Zero
Suggestions:

When he goes to Ground Zero, push him and anyone else with Iranian diplomatic immunity into the pit. We'll see how well it protects them from gravity.

Put a "Death to Ahmadinejad" banner across the site in the same style as a "death to america" banner would be in Iran.

Have the victims of IEDs, Beruit, and so on flood the Columbia presentation or block those within in a massive protest. He and the attendees should not allowed out unless they run a gauntlet of Iranian victim's families spitting on him. Columbia University professors should figure out quickly where THAT particular form of protest comes from. You know, unless they were to stoned to remember their own actions towards Vietnam vets.

Is there a lower point than this?
There will have to civil disobedience to prevent this. I don't believe American academe can go any lower than this. Will Columbia invite the heads of the KKK and some 9/11 troofers to complement the Iranian dictator's appearance?

By giving this guy...
This kind of reaction, we've already given him a PR moment. He gets to play off as sympathetic and compassionate to the world while we come off as belligerent.

We can have all the right reasons for doing so, but public opinion is seldom founded on reason.

How come Hillary and the rest of the gang are so quiet about this.

A modest proposal. . .
Can a group of college students nab Ahmadinejad, parade him in front of cameras, and hold him for about a year? Just asking.

H/T to the Corner for that most excellent suggestion, although I doubt Columbia students are up to the task.
