On Cindy McCain
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 8:51 AM
It's probably a coincidence, but it does strike me as interesting that these allegations of an affair have come out immediately after Cindy McCain started becoming a valuable spokesperson, against Obama, on behalf of the campaign.

Cindy v. Michelle
Or Painkiller addicted Trophy Wife v. Classy First Lady-to-be

Cindy a "value spokesperson against Obama"? Boy, that's rich!

Cindy McCain is a painkiller addicted thief who, not unlike Judy Guliani, helped McCain walk out the door of his long suffering first wife. Talk about "family values", there's nothing like hypocritical GOPers who can't keep the pants zipped around women (and some boys) who are not their wives - all the while condemning others for the same crime.

She's got bigger problems down the road than looking like a poor little martre. Soon enough she'll be asked to address the addiction and the stealing of her employees drugs while addled - then let's see how Michelle Obama handles the situation from on high. I'm betting she remains the classy woman she's been all along. Obama = first wife, brilliant career woman and mother of Barack's children. Need I say more?

Matt, remember when you attacked Jeri ?

Matt Lewis,

I'll be donating the maximum to McCain, but I think you should exhibit some shame by not complaining about this particular issue, bro.

You didn't mind attacks on the wives of GOP candidates when YOU were the one making them against Jeri Thompson, Judith Giuliani, or Ann Romney.

Do you remember that crappy post you wrote about Jeri Thompson several months ago, where you reported that a couple of anonymous cranky old GOP contributors were alleging that Jeri wasn't a nice lady because she wasn't spending enough time shaking hands with...cranky old contributors ?

The genteel MKH even spanked you for being out of line for that, when she referred to it as a 'bitc*y' post.

But I'm not surprised to see you involved in such hypocrisy.
After all, when evangelicals are hysterically running around playing the "Mormons are going to hell !" "Mormons are fake Christians !" "We can't vote for Mitt Romney the Cultist !" cards, or when Mike The Baptist Governor is making TV ads with an obvious crucifix bookshelf behind him as a reminder to voters that unlike his Mormon opponent, he's a 'real' Christian, you just kind of smile and nod your head.

Yet when evangelicals get attacked for their theology by secularists, you throw up your arms in outrage, offended that anyone would attack....another person for their theology.

Jess:
What's with the snarky response to Beastie Boy?
Beastie Boy is correct. And to all of the McCain people who think conservatives are going to be outraged at the NYT, think again.

This story's been out there for months
It sounds as though the Times was having their arm twisted by Bob Bennett; problem is, everyone else (e.g., Kurtz of the WaPo, TNR) was catching up on the story, and they needed to be first.

If anything, this is the one point where the least damage could have been done, which is why it might be a bit of Rovian jiu-jitsu.

This was going to come out, as is a lot more. If you think McCain is clean, think again.

NYT McCain Affair
Did this alleged affair occur at a time when Cindy McCain was abusing drugs? Very important to know.

This story does not surprise me. I never viewed McCain as an honorable man.
