'"He's black and conservative? He's got to be crazy!" That's the only explanation to the leftian mob.'
No, it's a matter of what his beliefs are and how strongly he holds them. It's unlikely that any given black person would believe strongly enough in conservative principles to overcome the inherent prejudice of the GOP, but certainly not impossible. Some beliefs, such as being anti-abortion, can sometimes be strong enough in a given person to overcome anything else.
Blacks are generally more socially conservative than the American average; this is correlated to the fact that they are generally more religious; it was demonstrated quite clearly in the California Prop 8 vote. The fact that the GOP gets such a tiny percentage of the black vote just shows how badly blacks see the GOP as doing in regard to their interests. |
it saddens me,because i can see it now,he's a sell out,an uncle tom etc etc.truthfully he probably is one of very few people in politics i might be able to trust.along with ron paul, fred thomson.just remeber if your black and conservitive your a sell out,if your black and a dem.your an activist!right AL! |
Thank you for your reply. I wish more conservatives thought like you.
I also appologize for lumping you in with wonna.
And you are right about racism in the NE-I lived in Boston for awhile and it was "bad."
Your post gave me a good idea for GOP slogan
"You can't expect to win the American Dream, it must be earned. Come with us and we will show you the way." |
does well for the party, but if he starts preaching affirmative action and pandering to minorities and special interest groups, then IMO, the conservatives will not return to the party. |
"He's black and conservative? He's got to be crazy!" That's the only explanation to the leftian mob. |
After exclusively giving the Democrats their votes for the past 40 years, the average African American cannot point to one piece of civil rights legislation sponsored solely by the Democratic Party that was specifically designed to eradicate the unique problems that African Americans face today. |
Congrats to Michael Steele.
THIS is what a black politician looks like!
No wonder the libbies are already frothing at the mouth.
What a wonderful day, not only for making the libbies even more crazy, but for getting the right man into the position. Steele will do well, we all know it.
I wish him well. |
I am African American, and while I am not a Republican, I do believe in some Republican ideas. However, I dare not say this around 90% of black people, because they will become furious. Many black people despise the Republican party, and Michael Steele will also meet the disapproval of many so-called black leaders, who will call him a "token," "Uncle Tom," "handkerchief head," "field negro," and other unpleasant names. AA's always talk about "diversity" but are extremely hostile to anyone who does not act the way black people "should act." I was even called an Uncle Tom for not eating fried chicken (too fatty and greasy). Go figure!
I wish Steele the best. |
I am no liberal, believe me, but I spent 20 years in the military and I know what these folks can do when they put their mind to it..
The dems have screwed them for generations, the preachers like wright and jackson BS them that it's all whitey's fault and they buy it..Why else would they put down successful blacks as "uncle toms" or 'sellouts?
Welfare isn't about helping them, it's extortion money and vote buying.
Even Cosby was excoriated for pointing out the truth.
I have many black friends that I respect because they have earned it, I just wish the others would get with the program, we're all in the same boat and too many are resting on their oars.

Steele was chosen because he was black. He has been on various media for a good while and republicans always seemed to speak highly of him.
Also, he was mentioned as a possible GOP Chairman way last summer -- before Obama was thought to have a chance of being president. I believe the top three choices, in order of preference was Steele, Blackwell and Dawson. My top two choices just happened to be black. I thought Steele was the best of the lot and I hope he is. But, then, what do I know . . . I once voted for Carter!
TD, i've spent 40 odd years serving with folks from all over the USA. Yeah, folks from the south sometimes used the N word to refer to a black person, but they served well with them and were friendly enough to go ashore with them. It was not uncommon in the Fifties and Sixties to see sailors of various races acting as running mates. Military folks don't pay much attention to a person's race -- there are exceptions though and these are usually discipined and ultimately discharged if problem continues, regardless of race.
I've heard sheer hate about blacks from folks in New England, PA, Ohio and MI, lots more than from Southern and Western folks. The Irish types from Boston can hardly say the word black without attaching nasty words to it. |
Steele is an excellant choice to bring the RINO-infested Republican Party back to their power base! (the #1 reason why the Magic Negro was able to get ACORN to buy him the 2008 election) TD-(Tediously Dumb)2008: Your references to "token" women (Palin) and blacks (Steele) merely exposes your "closet" racism & sexism, prevelant in the lib-tard herd. Talk about "hosted by his own petards"! (have a conservative explain it to ya, TD) Ex-Tex & KB Texan: "He steps up to the plate, here comes the pitch! He swings and......IT'S A HOME-RUN!!!" Right on and way to answer the teflon prick! |
M. Steele is the right man for the job. He is tough and wont allow the left attack machine to go unanswered ! Its a new day ! Take the ball and run with it Mr. Steele ! |
if you realy believe what you wrote in your last post perhaps you explain how you are not a liberal and now playing identity politics?
I'm sure "wonna" and you will have much tot alk about. |
only a black man can counter another black with the truth about the dems.
Black folks need to understand that the dems are not their friends and the republicans are not the enemy.
Who was it that freed the slaves and who was it that brought them Jim Crow.
Who was it that sent troops to Little Rock so they could go to school and who was it that keeps them on a plantation with demeaning welfare programs.
What racism there is in this country today is because most whites are sick to death of paying for a permanent underclass fostered by the democrats.
When blacks get the message that working hard in school aint "a white thang" and with civil rights comes civil responsibilities they will prosper as they should have after 1965. Mike is the man to send that message.

they will always be hypocrites through and through -- hypocrites that behave like spoiled rotten children - so very, very sad. |
Look I know the guy won but this was a very bad choice over Dawson. Steele has never achieved anything with his own GOPAC nor are his other political actions impressive either. Already he is saying that the Democrats will be in power till 2016 or even 2020. Talk about throwing the towel in the ring before the fight. Dawson would be going after Democrats in red states to root them out. God help us because Steele is going to help wreck what is left of the Republican Party. Thank God I am just an independent Traditionalist Conservative. |
I know what you mean about the NE libtards.....if not for the sake of the conservative minorities in those states, I would'nt even consider that region part of the U.S. anymore......RED, RED, RED.... |
talking about the "fact" Obama is black, but I guess Steele being black is not acceptable? Well, if the Libs can have a "BLACK" as it gets President, the RNC can have a black Chairman and they can go to pasck sand in Sauida Arabia. God how I wish they would do just that. |
No, it's not the same person. The reason Scarlett is not here is that she has put in her 40 hours this week. Soros and Kos do not pay overtime. Perhaps she should join the international brotherhood of bloggers...She will be back Monday morning.... |
Trolls, at least we KNOW he's a real American, not like your president..when is he going to unseal his vault birth certificate and his college entrance records..Hmmm? Actions speak louder than words, and if you have to hide something, seal it up..there is some there there. We KNOW Micheal was born in the USA.
He's got a lot more class than O and he at least can talk without a teleprompter and someone elses words. |
That, foxmustang, is the nature of pathogens. They replicate themselves and attempt to destroy beneficial life forms.
As you know, our experience has been that if they are challenged, they run and hide or come back as something else. Frank is the worst of the lot because he mostly pretends to be what he is not: a sort of alter-Obama. The best course is to ignore them all. |
WindowCleaner disappears as Lola C. appears. Later, Lola C. disappears as Scarlett O'Hara appears. Well, well, well, it appears we have a "new rebirth"......... We now have TD2008 and nowhere to be found is Scary O'Hairy........... We recognize you for the troll you are, so you can go back to your usual insults like "wingnuts", "rethugs", and "rightwingnuttia" among others. No need to try to stealth your way back in, pretending to be another left-wing loon.
Pathetic!!!!! |
I guess that the New Whig’s favored tactic to dismiss Reagan Conservatives is to call them Liberal.
Please make an effort to disprove anything that I have stated.
I’m just kidding. You can’t.
You obviously haven’t read any of my over 500 posts here at TH.
Reagan Conservatives don’t mindlessly go with the flow like you Pseudo-Cons.
We actually study what a person says and does. |
The effort you libs go through to hide your agenda.Say hey to your friends: 2cents(also says she is rep and a Mormon),Frank(claims to be a conservative),Scarlett O(claims to be a women)and the rest of the trolls who are insecure in their own skin.I think Mr Steele is quite comfortable in his own skin and I think he was the right choice. |
You people sound just like Dhimicraps.
You are obsessed with race just like the DimWits are.
You have become what you claim to oppose. |
the man's back trail to see where he is headed. Mr. Steele is a good man for the job and has my support. Nice comparisons kb Texan. |
between Steele and Obama.
A heart felt standing ovation. Superb. |
The difference between Steele and Obama is that Steele is all black...Obama's only half so. Steele has slave roots...Obama has none. Steele's been down for the struggle...Obama just showed up after the struggle was over and helped himself to the spoils. Steele knows real life...Obama knows elitism and luxury. Steele's a heavyweight...Obama's a lightweight. Steele has experience...Obama's a novice.
Expect the left-stream media to treat Steele with the same disrespect that have used against Thomas. Now we'll see who the racists really are. |
Understanding the true history of the GOP is helpful in these moments, the party was meant to bring many to the "tent". I wish Mr. Steele the best as he works to define the party. |
The election of Steele has started a new chapter for the GOP. Republicans can finally say that all races are welcome in the republican party. Unfortunately, the good southerners have had a strong hold on the party and as such the perception that only anglo saxan protestant males are allowed to define the party. At last, both parties can say 'we is free' and begin discussing american issues that affect ALL americans and not just 'blacks'. Let this be a good beginning for a post-racial policy agenda. I would like to hear Steele elevate the discussions to go beyond 'black oppression by whitey' to 'how can americans improve education for ALL americans?'. This is the CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.
Black woman against Obamacide! |
The immediate vitriol from the usual suspects on the left leaves me confident that the right choice was made.
Good luck Mr. Steele. If you haven't already, sit down for a nice chat with Justice Thomas. He can tell you what the left really thinks of African Americans going their own way.
The best people and the best pets! (Dogs here!)
And not a racist in the bunch! Thank you again for defending our honor!
A great read is the Black Republican Assoications web site, http://www.nbra.info/ Good articles and a VERY interesting History test if you scroll down their home page! |
So you got your way. Your new leader is a man who claims that he has always been a staunch supporter of affirmative action. He is a man who while claiming to be pro-life believes that Roe v Wade should not be overturned. He is a man who has been an integral part of the Republican Centrist’s efforts to marginalize Evangelical and other Conservative Christians.
Hopefully he can get another John McCain nominated for you in three years.
The Republican Party is in no way, shape, or form, a conservative party, unless of course it is compared to the Communist Party.
Death to the New Whig Party! |
Dallas, huh. Lots of great memories of the big D, and the wonderful folks in that area.
One'a my cats was born in Dallas. He's my favorite. |
About 2 dozen people on HuffPost. Check it out. Their hypocracy is hilarious. |
Thank you, kind Sir!
From Dallas! |
I think Micheal Steele will be a great chairman with obama= carter finishing off the economy We'll have a good shot at retaking the house in 2 years . |
Who refers to African American's as "Uncle Tom"?? |
SORRY, but I'm NOT impressed! OsiSpeaks.com |
notice normally- but YOU- you little racist piece'o sh*t - YOU deserved to be stomped on like the sh*t eatin' cockroach that you are.
The folks in those states that you so eloquently label 'klan states' are SO FAR AHEAD OF YOU LIBTARDS on the evolutionary ladder that you can't even see'em. I have NEVER met a southerner that comes even close to the ugliness, racism, crudeness, idiocy, rudeness, smugness, or ignorance that you idiot NE LIBTARDS display EVERY DAY.
By God, YOU libtards are lowest of life forms- ALL of you! You make me sick with your witless whining and the HATRED that springs forth from you EVERY TIME YOU SPEAK. You have NO chance of winning in polite political discourse so you rant like the ignorant children that you are.
EVERY SOUTHERNER I have been privledged to know over my fifty years has judged their fellow men by the CONTENT OF HIS CHARACTER- not the color of his skin. Which explains why we generally do not lower ourselves to converse with you - you little sh*t eatin' monkey. And guess what- I don't give a sh*t what color you are!
Teflon Don writes: Friday, January, 30, 2009 6:26 PM Wow! an african american running the GOP? Can't wait to hear what some of the folks from KY, SC, GA, LA, OK, TX, TN, AK, UT, WY, Drama Queen Rush Limbaugh or any of the other confederate or klan states have to say.
This will be interesting! |
"We can say all the racists stuff we want now" we're covered!
Huh? Modern liberals are truely an amazing bunch. Like their leader, they have no class. Zero, zip, nada. |
ok-well the Parody song complete with an al sharpton impersonation using a"kingfish" style dialect is not about expectations. Its mean spirited which would be fine if we weren't castigating the dems for their meanspiritedness-like say this collumn.
Its the song that got Saltzman in trouble. The important thing is Steele denounced the song and Limbaugh's style of rhetoric.
That's all that matters to me; As far as moderates go Steele will be good at representing the more sane parts of the GOP and not the lunatic fringers. |
..........or are the trolls coming here getting dumber? Use the 6:46pm post for reference. |
Not true. I just read it again and it's really not about Odumbo but more about blacks and whites and the way they see, and the expectation they have for Odumbo. |
Plumbers assistants make a H#LL of a lot more money than fry cooks at fast food restaurants. And as a plumbers assistant I can join the union and get even better pay and benefits. So thanks for the compliment. |
You don't need that McDonald's job anymore.
Looks like you must got yourself a new job as the assistant to Joe the plumber |
uh, hey, are you trying to tll me that Steele's race had nothing to do with his selection?
What are the statistcall odds of the two major politcal parties in the same year electing their first black leader? Yes it is historic and we should celebrate but don't be so naive about the role race played in this election.
sombody sent out a mailer a few days ago showing fake usatoday front page that showed a mocked up article of how it would look if Katon Dawson won; the jist of the peice covered his history with his whites only country club.
Don't you go fooling yourself into thinking race played no isssue. Now wether you see that as good or bad thing is up for debate. |
....hysterical: 7 frenzied comments out of a total of 10 within 20 minutes. TD = 6; and, Scarlett = 1. This is an undeniable example of panic-stricken, frantic, out-of-control libs that apparently were programmed for attack mode by ?????? (fill in the blanks)! Conspicuous behavioral anxiety???? You bet!
It's nice you're so concerned about Elizabeth. Don't worry though. Elizabeth will take your job at McDonalds leaving you able to collect unemployment insurance and spend all your new free time posting insightful posts on TH.
Chip Saltzman had to drop out of the race over the song, not the collumn. Chip distributed the Shanklin parody which is where you find the term being used dirisively about Obama. The LAT piece you reference was actually a pro-Obama piece. Contex is important-just as Saltzman.
Anyhoo Steele denounced the SONG as not the kind of politics we need.
And I agree with him 100% |
The Enemy within the motherland.
Anyone else find it odd that TD is having a conversation with himself? |
Which party is the one that consistently brings up the issue of race? Which party is the one that thinks race should be a deciding factor in college admission and professional hiring? Which party is the one who just can't stop talking about how racist the other one is, despite the other party making it clear in all platforms that they seek the goal of the great reverend - a colorblind society?
Which party is making a big deal, less than 12 hours after being selected, that Michael Steele is black? |
What will happen to your $7 hour job as bagger @Walmart if the Stimulus bill does not pass?
Hope RNC folks have you covered as the paid troll |
Mr.Steele is not a muslim.
He is a good family man .
Regards, John McCain |
Steele's a muslim? Any truth to that?
(I know he's not a muslim.. just wanted to see how ridiculous it is to post something like that crazy lady from MN, Jermoe Corsi or Andy Martin or a good % of the TH posters)
Although I did hear he had pro-choice views? Is that true? If so, where are the evangelicals opposition toward him? |
Mr Steele really has you upset, doesn't he!
Ahem..and might I add two words: Robert Byrd! LOL
Chill out kid. Sit back and have a beverage or something. It's weekend time, end of January, the 'stimulus' bill is going to be gutted 'cause Dems are afraid of passing the thing on their own...
Life is good! |
Eventhough this another copy of Democrats, there is a BIG difference.
Steele has brains unlike certain moosedresser from Alaska |
First Palin, and, now Steele!!! Funny to watch!!! |
I agree with you that Steele is a moderate.
But Rush is head of GOP.
Moderates & Racists don't go together.
It will be a matter of time before Steele bending infront of Rush and begging for mercy!!
Ask that coward GOP Congressman from GA. |
Now that Steele is running the RNC you can expect the "barack the magic negro" and Rush limbaugh style of politic to be relagated to the back of the bus.
Steele is an excellent communicator who does not stoop to the limbaugh politic.
In fact he was one of the few candidates for the job who spoke out against the song and that kind rhetoric. Steele is a good albeit unexpected choice.
all this talk getting rid of the moderates is gong to disappear as well. |
and GOP is hoping attract moderates and idependents...
Good luck with that |
oooohhhh ! We are so scared. How many Senators GOP has in the senate 30? 40 ?
Party of 22% is irrevelent. A regional party. Who cares what you say? |
HA..that's precious. Time for the long knives, since THIS black man is on the wrong side of the political tracks. Keep slicing and dicing, Dems...you're ALREADY in trouble with your stupid nanny-state bloat bill. |
