Really Disgraceful
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 10:13 PM
If the coverage wouldn't bring the disgraceful smear further publicity, I would hope that someone in the MSM would make mention of the ugly campaign the left is waging against Governor Palin's 17 year old daughter referenced by Matt below and first by Amanda here.

Decent people on both sides of the political spectrum have long understood that politicians' children are off limits; Republicans and Democrats alike have rightly condemned ugly attacks on Chelsea Clinton and the Bush twins.

Two comments: Someone on the left has been watching too much "Desperate Housewives."  Those sorts of things simply don't happen in real life.

Finally, the ring?  It's probably a purity ring -- something, obviously, that the secular elitists (and ugly human beings) attacking Bristol Palin know nothing about.

Good heavens.  Is this really what it's come to on the left?  And is Andrew Sullivan really trying to destroy any vestige of credibility by spreading this garbage?

The sickness of the left
Is horrifying....it reminds me of when I was in 4th grade and a little girl in my class cheered when they anounced to us at school that Reagan had been shot...the type of people that could hate so much and further, teach their kids that kind of hate....they live among us and it is beyond disturbing.

My hope is that this wonderful Palin family from Alaska not before subjected to the brutality of a national campaign will not be torn apart by the sickness of these people.

Absolutely Disgraceful
No topic or person is off limits to these lunatics. They have no ideas or arguments so they resort to personal attacks. They lead sad, shallow lives. The level of disrespect they show for genuinely good people is beyond comprehension.
kristin writes: Sunday, August, 31, 2008 11:26 PM
This is what happens
The Left know that they cannot argue the experience angle to much more because it is beating a dead horse and they are losing. They keep trying and trying to find things, and the things they do find are trivial, stupid things so they go after what is basically sacred, and in past campaign's off limits, children. What the hell is wrong with people?
vonryansexpress writes: Sunday, August, 31, 2008 11:32 PM
Yes, it is what they have come to.
Read Arnaud de Borchgrave and Robert Moss' "The Spike." The left relishes the low prole personal reflection and character whispering campaigns as the art of their innuendo.

Come to think of it, all conservatives should read the de Borchgrave, 1980, fiction work for a view of how he saw the coming devolution of honesty and class in the livid left.

Then again, Ms. Rand's "The Fountainhead" has Ellsworth Toohey for paradigm bad faith egalitarian and that’s 1945.

HEY, ... they've got lineage
Deanna writes: Sunday, August, 31, 2008 11:39 PM
What I keep wondering is . . .
. . . who really CARES? Honestly, in this day and age, it doesn't really matter whose baby it is, does it? What does the left think they are going to gain by making an issue of this? Instead of making Sarah Palin look bad, they make themselves look like idiots, flipping out over a very personal issue that requires them to attack a candidate's teenage daughter.

Plain and simple, this does no damage whatsoever to Sarah Palin (much less to John McCain), and does incalculable damage to the liberal cause.

Palin was for the bridge to nowhere...
I haven't heard a word about her kids, and don't much care about them - except the youngest two who will be bumped around as mom campaigns non-stop. And what of the littlest Palin who is less than 6 mos. old and has Down's Syndrome? Will she be bumped around as well, or spend her days with a nanny? Mother of the Year, Palin is decidedly NOT.

I've heard and read PLENTY about her and her hubby:

Seems Palin used her position in Alaskan government to fire a man who wouldn't be bullied into firing her ex-brother-in-law, who, it turns out, was under investigation via Palin for 14 violations. As the story goes, the 14 violations were bogus for the most part, and only 5 had merit - but only the kind that calls for a short suspension. Exaggeration on Palin's part regarding her ex-bro? Looks like it. Did she put forth a witch hunt using her position? Yeah, quite. But it didn't work, so she and her hubby started harrassing her ex-bro-in-law's boss, and when he made it clear he had no grounds to fire the guy, they had HIM ousted. And SOOOOO many people back this story up that Palin - after lying first - had to retract her lie and admit the truth. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/211769.php

Now we're finding out that the "maverick" VP choice is not so maverick-y after all. Turns out she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it! Sounds like she really is a good match for the King of Flip flops!
kristin writes: Sunday, August, 31, 2008 11:59 PM
True
What really is the point here? Whether the child is the daughter's or Governor Palin, the fact is life was chosen over terminating the pregnancy.

The Liberal cause is going to take a bigger hit because they were salivating at the chance to point out McCain's close ties to the Bush Administration and because of Gustav, they just won't get their chance. boofreakinhoo.

I had a similar experience; I was in physics lab and a guy cheered when the professor came in and told us that JFK had been shot. He didn't have the excuse of being nine years old. Today, he's still a screaming, fanatic right-winger.

"Turns out she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it!"

There's actually an interesting story there. Not only was she for it, support for the bridge project was one of the major things she campaigned for governor on.

After she won, it became clear that the federal government wasn't going to give Alaska quite enough money to build the bridge. Rather than kick in the difference from Alaska's huge flow of oil revenue, she canceled the project AND KEPT THE FEDERAL MONEY.

Tell me, conservatives, what good does it do to cancel a pork project if you don't save the government any money?

There was a separate federal project to build an approach road to the bridge; that one had enough money to complete it. So now they're building a big, expensive road that sweeps down to a cold, rocky Alaska beach ... and ends. Our tax dollars at work.

The problem is not so much the huge cost to the US taxpayer of these two boondoggles, but the fact that the very first time she faced a national audience, Palin stood there and told a bold-faced lie about it.

Ahh, isnt it glorious to watch the loony left go beserk over a fantastic choice for VP. The loony left is just paranoid that the first woman to be elected as the president or VP will be a Republican, not a Democrat. It really destroys the Dems playbook.

Luv it!

one just has to always remember that
these shmucks are taking their talking points from their leader Obama. The smears against Governor Palin's family are a true reflection of what Obama and his campaign are feeding his surrogates.

Let's put the blame and the focus back to exactly where it belongs - OBAMA.

They are upset that Obama comes with Rezko, Khalid, Alinsky, Wright,Ayers, Soros etc etc and Governor Palin comes with a true American background without being taught or mentored by those who are un-American or wish for the demise of this country.

Palin is REAL CHANGE you can count on
Governor Palin is the real American dreem,
and dont know what to do,
Governor Palin has more executive experience, then Obama/Biden put together,
they have watch how they attack Governor Palin,
so Obamas people start with cheep shots,
at the daughter,
like they did with Hillarys daughter,
and they want to run our country,[[[[[[[[[PLEASE]]]]]]]]]
Obama and his anti American associates,
will NOT have a chance to win the White House.

That's a very interesting point about how you don't care much about the kids..lol

Typical liberal move: You don't think it's an issue yet you drone on about it. What a fraud.

Izzy, dear, are you losing your mind? It must be hard on you realizing your dreams of putting an effete Marxist sociology professor in the White House are going up in smoke.

Let's see..where to begin?

First, Isabella, Palin and her family made these charges a year before she was elected governor. You didn't mention them but I will:

1) her former brother in law threatened to KILL Palin's father if Palin's sister left him

2) her former brother in law tazered his own 11 year old son

3) her former brother in law was drinking alcoholic beverages in his patrol car

Now, if the Democrats want to have a debate about out-of-control former husbands who threaten to kill people and tazer their own kids, BRING IT OWN. There are millions of Americans who have had to deal, unfortunately, these kinds of situations. I think the women of this country are going to find the Palins extraordinarily sympathetic in regard to this matter.

I'll leave it to the Democrats to defend the out-of-control former brother in law.

And another thing
Obama has spent the past five YEARS running for US Senate and now the Presidency. I don't recall anyone on the left (or right for that matter) talking about how Obama must be a short-changing his kids because he spends so much time campaigning.

McCain-Palin REALLY has them rattled, folks.

Talking of disgraceful...
That Dem clown Fowler has "apologized" for his comments about Gos being on their side with regard to the timing of Gustav. And oh what a typical classy Dem apology it was...

"If this offended anybody, I personally apologize," Fowler told ABC News. "It was a mistake, and it was a satirical statement made in jest. And one that I clearly don't believe."

"One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase," said Fowler. "But that's the nature of what we're dealing with."

If you disgusting Dems wouldn't make these disgusting statements then us "right wing nutters" wouldn't bring them out into the light. It's known as cause and effect, moron.
Always shoot the messenger.

Why Sullivan Crossed A Line
I am not one of those persons calling Barack Obama a mulsim or terrorist. Plus I am a Daily Dish Sullivan Reader from way back when Sullivan first started after 9/11. I defended Sullivan when he called Hugh Hewitt on his past excesses (although I never recall Hewitt attacking a politician's kids). I have also defended Sullivan in the past from Ace, HotAir, Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, John Podhoretz, etc. I often do not agree with Sullivan's take, but I thought he was an honorable voice. For me to attack him now is a big deal, but it is justified.

Sullivan crossed a line with this nonsense. You do not attack a candidate's children without good cause and solid evidence. A Daily Kos echo chamber is not a legitimate source. Sullivan played the role of a dirty gutter hack. And he did it all on his own.

John Podhoretz nails it with this article: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/jpodhore tz/24862
