Re: New Move On Ad
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 2:10 PM
AC -- When I saw your post, I initially thought you were angling for the "worst person in the world" distinction.

... Then I saw the ad.

This is one of the most despicable, scurrilous ads I've ever seen.  Tony Schwartz may no longer be with us, but his spirit of below-the-belt, fear-mongering, negative campaign ads is alive and well.

Will the establishment media decry this as an effort by an outside group to, "swiftboat" John McCain?

It contradicts the $80mm you claim he got when he became VP. It also makes the point that all money from stock options goes to charity.

Kimber the clueless
I guess you attended Liberal Cluless U. Your premises and conclusions are so screwed up on who serves in the Army now, I served with soliders who have PHD's in EGINEERING, Today's solider are more educated and usually belive in something larger than themselves, than you liberals can ever think of. During the Vietnam war is when the last draft was and they taking almost everybody, even with criminal records, so before you start spatting off about something you know nothing about, Do your homework! And don't get your info from the liberal mainstream media or moveon.org or code pink!!!!!!! For The record I have a B.S. degree in Achitecture and am retired Army Reserves.

I served in Iraq
and nobody forced me to go I volunteered, knowing I could lose my life. I had Iraqis coming up to me telling me about death squads and the fedayeen Saddams death sqauds and how thankful they were for helping them and how much they Liked Bush for The U.S. being there. So before I LISTENN TO A CLULESS LIBERAL, I USUALLY TELL THEM TO PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS, they talk alot but actioons speak louder than words, besides Pres. Cliton was the one who claimed that Iraq had WMD's but the left always has selective memories.

Sappy and Stupid!
Is this the best Move-on (over) can do with its money? Ed already stated the obvious; Mommy doesn't get to decide once her son turns eighteen. America still has a voluntary military. And despite the obvious statement that John McCain made, which implied American military presence is in numerous countries—according to several sources I’ve reviewed, the U.S. has troops in 70 percent of the world’s countries. This indicates to me, U.S. presence in most of these foreign countries didn’t occur within the last eight years, it’s been part of the fabric of our country—to be the peace keepers of the planet. If you want to have a legitimate discussion on the matter, it’s what do we think about our military strategy for the future, why does America continue to have military presence in many countries, is our current presence outmoded, and so forth. Once again, we have people weighing in on have baked information appealing to the emotional rather than the rational.

Here you go -

http://www.factcheck.org/kerry_ad_falsely_accuses_cheney_on _halliburton.html

You can also check his tax returns -

Also before you cry Halliburton and the Iraq contract - there are only two companies that could have been awarded that contract Halliburton or the French company Schlumberger. I know how much you liberals love the French, but I think the US Government was right it choosing the American company Halliburton.
Nee writes: Tuesday, June, 17, 2008 6:07 PM
Okay, libs
Conflict of Interest...Cheney had to sell stock. Um, think about it...VP. He is 100% entitled to that money. Kiss off. You BDS sufferers just want to make the Bush Admin as evil as possible. Never mind the ones who took bribes, etc.. Harry land deal Reid, Abscam Murtha, Senator I got the special Dodd, from MonkeyGirl's state...WTF, people? Pot, and kettle. They just don't like to be shown up!

Oh, and Cheney does hold Halliburton stock OPTIONS, worth $22 million at today's stock price. You're right, though, that's nothing like owning stock.

And he's still receiving a salary from them, but it's a DEFERRED salary. That's nothing like being an employee.

What did Halliburton give Dick Cheney when he became Vice President?

A) A Gold Watch
B) A going-away party in the office
C) A parachute
D) A briefcase with the VP Seal
E) $80,000,000

The correct answer is E. Eighty Million Dollars.

And we all know that loyalty is an important part of the Bush administration.

Kimberly - one more thing
One more thing before you head off to you "Womyn's" meeting. For all the liberal nonesence and complaining about conservatives not fighting in this war. Last time I checked the military members vote overwhelming Republican. So much so that Gore and team in 2000 did everything they could to disqualify any military absentee ballot from overseas.

Kimberly
Since I have you figured as some miserable college chick who does not get invited to the formals and fraternity parties and vents all day - here is a quiz for you, since you probably go to some state college I even made it multiple choice.

How many shares of Halliburton does Dick Cheney own?

A) 20,000,000
B) 10,000,000
C) 1,000,000
D) 500,000
E) 0

The correct answer is E, ZERO! Yep that is correct, he owns ZERO shares. He has not owned a share since becoming Vice President. If you do not believe me you can check his tax returns. Also if you state college has a Bloomberg terminal, you can type in HAL EQUITY HDS GO - will give you a list of all the holders and how many shares they own. You can check on your way to your "Voices for WOMYN" meeting.

STOP THE DRAFT NOW!
I actually agree with the Dem/lib usual suspects this time. We must stop drafting babies into the Armed Forces. Little teeny tiny babies and toddlers have no place carrying weapons anyway. It is shameful that we press junior high kids into service! Outrageous! Besides, joining the service can lead to smoking, a truly evil habit.

Kimberly, Hoosier, Bob ...
its amazing that you liberals think of yourself as "good" people ... the hate you display daily is simply amazing ...

you are sick, broken people who have to strike out in anger when your world view is disrupted which is always since you have a false view of reality ...

go back to chanting "O-ba-ma" "O-ba-ma" ...

he is your kind of con man :)
Ed writes: Tuesday, June, 17, 2008 3:27 PM
Sorry mom; Sorry, Move On.....
....but, actually, it's Alex's decision whether he would like to serve his country or not.

Or are you suggesting that all of our service members are currently dedicating their lives to our freedoms AGAINST their own will and the will of their families?

Seems pretty disrespectful to those serving to me.

Not a surprise though. Move On only feigns respect for the military when it serves their political ends, never at any other time.

We all know how they really feel. You may have 'moved on,' but the majority of us have not forgotten "Betray-us." You can't fool us twice.

Works for Me
By "despicable, scurrilous" I take it you mean "effective."

And I'm glad to see you're using "swiftboat" with the correct connotation. Of course, there're aren't any lies in this ad.

100 years In Iraq
I thought it was great! If more people get the idea that eventually they will run out of people willing to go to war for the honor of dying they will realize that sooner or later it will be their children, grandchildren or someone close will be made to go. It is time someone said "Stop".
