Will the Immigration Rumble Happen or Not?
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 10:31 AM

NRO keeps nudging WSJ, but nothing official yet.

Last week, Steve Moore seemed to take the challenge on Bill Bennett's radio show, but details were never hashed out.

Paul Gigot of the WSJ told the NYT later the same week that the WSJ had already been kind enough to invite NRO editors onto their Fox News show, but no one had accepted, so they saw no need for a debate.

Today, NRO repeats its request for a debate in a neutral site, and the WSJ continues to look like a punk.

Is there anyone out there who doubts that this would be a great intellectual fireworks display? The WSJ, as fellow intellectually curious conservatives, should accept just to give us all a good show. It's part of the spirit of the conservative movement to have these spirited debates. Hence, the Cato vs. Heritage interns annual debate, which is always a hoot. Come on, WSJ. What are you? Chicken? Don't let the interns outdo you.

Press 1 for your senior senator, 2 for your junior senator.

This will connect you DIRECTLY to your senator without going through the congressional switchboard.

typo: racist not
rascist. Guess I pulled out the 'fail to spell check' card.

Frank J., oh please can't you
come up with something more intelligent than
toting out the old, tired, lame rascist card?
Rush Limbaugh is right when he says it is easy to be a liberal because you just have to be 'for' everything and not think about anything.

The problem is...
...the devil is in the details, and the details are not nailed down yet. If they debate now, they'll be debating one side's fear against the other side's hope. It may be entertaining, but it's a recipe for futility at this point.

GOP=WHIG
The Republican Party under GWB seems intent on political suicide. Pandering to citizens of other countries illegally in our country while telling us we must be vigilantes if we object to illegal aliens ignoring our borders and laws. Mel Martinez is RNC Chairman to ensure an open borders candidate in '08. The cheap labor express will be kept running, regardless of the consequences, to party or country. GOP-RIP

Listen to the Moore - Kirkorian Debate
I suggest everyone actually listen to the debate between Stephen Moore and Mark Kirkorian from the Bill Bennett show. Moore had to concede that many of the specifics on this bill were unenforceable and ineffective. About the only thing that he really seemed to endorse was that we should have a higher level of legal immigration into this country and a guest worker plan. I disagree with Moore on both of those issues, but he was hardly an enthusiastic supporter of amnesty and the impractical enforcement measures that are contained in this disasterous bill.

The real question...
Will there be a debate, or will they just be screaming at each other?

I'd like the former, but it usually just ends up the latter.

Look at It from the WSJ's Side
Who wants to have a debate with a bunch of foaming at the mouth racists?
