An Ear-Full for Ifill ...
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 12:25 PM
The presidential debate commission certainly deserves our scorn, but I am still amazed that the McCain campaign -- apparently -- didn't know about Ifill's forthcoming pro-Obama book.  How is that possible?

Speaking of which, I'm much more concerned about her conflict of interest than about her otherwise liberal bias.

Conservatives can almost always assume they will be debating both their opponent and the moderator -- so having a liberal moderator doesn't really surprise me.  More concerning, however, is the fact that she stands to gain financially by Obama winning.

Perhaps Ifill should have passed on this opportunity?  This is utterly ridiculous -- and would not be tolerated if the situation were reversed and a conservative moderator (yeah, right!) had been booked ...

The Lib hyporacy is amazing.
I like how the lefties are trying to spin this as "if Palin fails..." arguement.

This is about integrity, honesty, self-respect, and ego. Ifill's got money in the outcome of the game. Not only does she support Mr. Obama's policies; she's written a book glorifying! Her ego won't exclude herself from the moderator's chair!

Out of the some 10-15% 'undecideds' we can find one that is as professional as Ms. Ifill and no where as biased? Sad...

I want a hostile environment
quite frankly, Palin needs to show she can succeed in a hostile environment if McCain is to win this election. The campaign completely overplayed its hand in shunning interviews, to the point where one disastrous Couric appearance has re-enforced the stereotype of her being played out in the media since the convention.

Enough of the talk of pulling out, of how this is wrong. Grow some stones. We need to stop treating her like a child. If she can not handle biden and Ifil, then she should not be on the ticket. EOS

It has ZERO to do with Palin and all to do with and perceived lack of judgement on the part of the commission and the moderator herself.

Would the libs have been happy with Rush Limbaugh moderating a debate? HE*L NO they wouldn't have. They'd have burnt the venue down before they would have allowed that.

Ifil
I believe Ifil always displays a liberal bias, often left of center.

Thank you for the commissioners email address.

If the Shoe Were on the Other Foot . . .
the objections from the Left and MSM would be heard around the clock. And I would consider their objections reasonable.

Also, I am not convinced of Ifil's objectivity. Consider her response to Palin's acceptance speech. It was clearly a well delivered speech which boosted her approval rating. But Ifil was clearly not objective in her coverage of it.

Let's not play dumb here. This is a high-stakes debate and the debate Commissioner should not even risk having an opportunity for even a hint of possible bias. She should do the right thing.

Jim Lehrer did a fair job. As a result, he was not the subject of any major post-debate discussions. I would like to see a repeat for the VP debate.

After the VP debate we want the campaigns to be debating the answers to the isues and not the objectivity of the moderator.

No Trust in PBS or Debate Commission
Gwen Ifill can never be fair. She stands to gain a lot if Obama wins. Remover her as the moderator

Let the blogger beware
Never doubt that this has nothing to do with Gwen Ifill -- who has shown herself to be a professional and as objective as they come -- and everything to do with anxiety over Sarah's performance.

Don't fool yourself.

Let the Commissioner Know How You Feel
Michelle Malkin has the commissioners email address posted on her blog.

Janet H. Brown, Executive Director of the Debates Commission: jb@debates.org

This is clearly a conflict of interest and should result in either Gwen Ifil being substituted with someone else or at least making a statement of full disclosure at the beginning of the debate at least.

Never underestimate what ==respectful== viewer complaints can do.
