No Stimulus $$ for IL Until Blago is Gone

Big H/T to David Weigel fo the Washington Independent for picking up on this line from the draft stimulus package:

None of the funds provided by this Act may be made available to the State of Illinois, or any agency of the State, unless (1) the use of such funds by the State is approved in legislation enacted by the State after the date of the enactment of this Act, or (2) Rod R. Blagojevich no longer holds the office of Governor of the State of Illinois.

Got that? Congress is saying no money for Illinois until Blagojevich is GONE!

Me thinks
that someone who is high up on the ladder in DC is a little worried about what will come out of the entire Blago nightmare once all is revealed (as it will be). A little odd that our transparent congress would single out and discriminate an entire state for one governor, who by the way hasn't even been officially indicted yet. Does anyone besides me think that this stinks to high Heaven?

I know the dems last concern is about legality but cant that state now refuse to give tax money collected until polosi is gone.wouldnt that be a kick.It seems to me they could just keep all that money in their state now and flip[ polosi off big time.

Great move
Now if Blago is convicted in his impeachment trial, he can appeal to some court saying his jury (the Illinois Senate) was influenced by the withholding of federal funds. But then, maybe some cour will say that makes the entire bill unconstitutional.

Either way [(1) or (2)] Blago will have no authority over federal stimulus funds. Sounds like Congress is the ones who have already tried and convicted him.
