Dem Divide Grows Ever-Greater
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 7:10 PM
Ouch:
Nearly six in ten Obama supporters in Indiana say they would be dissatisfied if Clinton were the nominee -- that's (I believe) the high percentage of Obama supporters who have ever said that.

In both IN and NC, two thirds of Clinton supporters say they'd be dissatisfied if Obama were the nominee -- I believe that's the highest number recorded for that question, too.

The percentage of Clinton voters who say they'd choose McCain over Obama in a general election is approaching 40% in Indiana. Put it another way: in North Carolina, less than HALF of folks who voted today for Hillary Clinton are ready to say today that they'd definitely vote for Obama in a general election.
And, no matter what you think of him, Republicans managed to nominate the one Republican most likely to lure the sore losers away from the Dem ticket entirely.

From your lips (or keyboard) to
the voters' ears.

I am a big McCain fan and he is my first pick. While I am sure Obamanuts hate Hillary's guts and visa versa--tonight looks like an Obama victory (not an overwhelming one but a definitely plus in his column).

Obama winnng by double digits in NC and Hillary winning by less than double digits in Indiana seems to be meeting expectations. That sounds like a push to me. I frankly thought it would be closer in NC (although Indiana sounds about right).

Given Obama is ahead going in, a push is a victory for him. If Hillary drops out we can expect a bump for Barack. I hope she keeps fighting and burning bridges but don't get your hopes too high.

Merry Christmas McCain...from Dems.
Today's polls have reached the highest rate of divide yet in the democratic party. Why? 52% of Hillary's supporters say they will not vote for Obama or will vote for McCain if Hillary loses the nomination. 50% of Obama's supporters say the same. Let's assume only half of each group will stay home and the other home will actually vote for McCain - then (26% of Hillary supporters and 25% of Obama's will vote for McCain) that is a wopping 48% of democratic voters saying they will vote for McCain. Okay, let's take it lower to adjust for republicans who were voting as democrates and say only 38% of voters were genuine about their response. McCain will get 65% of republicans and 38% of democrats and lets give him 50% of independents......since electoral college is winner takes all - who still thinks Obama can win?

FL and MI - whooaaa!
Voters will not forget in the fall about FL and MI. Another gift for McCain.

Whistling past the graveyard again
"Republicans managed to nominate the one Republican most likely to lure the sore losers away from the Dem ticket entirely."

First of all, it was non-Republicans who nominated the Democrats pick for their preferred opponent.

Second, has someone forgotten "Operation Chaos"? Aren't many of those Hillary "voters" being polled actually crossover Republicans who were going to vote for McCain anyway in November? You can't have it both ways.

"No matter what you think of him..." That does not help the argument you conclude with. It is irrelevant to conservatives which of the two big libs who will head the two-headed United Establishment Party, we now have Bob Barr to vote for and that will send Shoeless John to a crash and burn finish.
