World Health Organization Drops Label 'Swine Flu' For 'H1N1 influenza A'
Posted by: Greg Hengler at 5:59 PM

When clarity counts, you can count on the World Health Organization. Their reasoning rests with the likes of PETA: they want to protect pigs.

This relabeling reminds me of what Thomas Sowell wrote in his Tuesday column: "President Obama can ban the phrase "war on terror" but he cannot ban the terrorists' war on us."  The same theory can be applied to this. The renaming of the "Swine Flu" does nothing to stop the virus from entering us. But, like the terrorists, at least the pigs will no longer be offended.

How Humane!
Ironically, those who want to protect pigs can't find the desire to protect the unborn. How predictable! Let them remain in the pig sty, after all, they can relate better with pigs.

Can we all pray that
that advanced staffer on the Mexico fiasco, French kissed Hussein, i mean, after all, he's probably one of his butt-boys!! All together now, "yes we can", "yes we can", "yes we can", "yes we can", all together now, "yes we can", "yes we can". Can tyranny be "swined"...., "yes it can", "yes it can", "yes it can"........

rachel you fool
“All those little porky things that the House put in, the money for the [National] Mall or the sexually transmitted diseases or the flu pandemic, they’re all out,” Charles Schumer.

Most of the pandemic funding was in the March Omnibus bill that was passed by the Senate.

rachel the hypocrite
I guess it's OK when your mob votes against pandemic flu funding huh?

"It would set aside $1 billion for improving port and mass-transit security. It would also provide a $650 million increase in children’s health care funding. An additional $3 billion would go toward converting U.S. military bases that plan to close. “Other domestic beneficiaries include state HIV grant programs, mine safety research, youth violence prevention activities and pandemic flu protection.”

Vote type: Recorded Vote (Help)
A standard vote that requires a simple majority for approval or passage of the legislation.
Result: Passed, 280-142, with 11 not voting.
Date/time: May 24, 2007, 6:45 p.m.
Republican majority opinion: Yes
Democrat majority opinion: No

Question
"Their reasoning rests with the likes of PETA: they want to protect pigs."

I hate to disturb your fun, but do you have anything to back that up?

Prices for hogs and pork products have been collapsing over the past few days. There's no evidence whatsoever that you can get the flu from eating pork, but obviously a lot of people hear "swine flu" and stop buying bacon and ham. So the name change isn't to protect the feelings of the pigs, it's to protect the wallets of the farmers. And I don't see what the problem is with that.

I have to agree with you on this one. Lets try to keep Biden from talking about though ,he might finish those poor farmers off.
