Two Headlines And The Radical, Anti-National Security Democrats
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 9:40 AM
Both from the MSM's "paper of record," The New York Times:

U.S. to Produce Data on Iran’s Nuclear Program

and

House Leaves Surveillance Law to Expire

The first story reminds those who need it that the threats arrayed against the U.S. are extreme and growing.

The second story is an account of the astonishing and outrageous conduct of the radical House Democrats.  In a time of war and WMD, of jihad and regular attacks against targets across the globe, the House Democrats have intentionally blinded the U.S. to intelligence it could otherwise have gathered:

The House broke for a week’s recess Thursday without renewing terrorist surveillance authority demanded by President Bush, leading him to warn of risky intelligence gaps while Democrats accused him of reckless fear mongering.

The refusal of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, to schedule a vote on a surveillance measure approved Tuesday by the Senate touched off an intense partisan conflict over the national security questions that have colored federal elections since 2002 and are likely to play a significant role again in November.

The Senate bill enjoyed broad biparitsan support, and it would easily pass the House if the radical Democrats led by San Francisco's Pelosi would allow the vote.

Even though many House Democrats would vote to pass the law, each one of them owns this recklessness because they put Pelosi in the Speaker's chair.  They are each as responsible as she is for this unbelievable stunt that endangers American lives as well as the lives of innocents wherever terrorists are planning attacks.  This is a defining moment for the anti-national security Democrats, one that should remain front and center of all the Sunday  shows as well as the next nine months.  Democrats are gambling with the country's safety, and their denials of this obvious fact as well as the reality of the strong majority support for the law conveys how dangerous it is to allow them to continue to lead in the Congress or to assume the presidency.

UPDATE: How radical have the Democrats become?  Daniel Ortega is praising Senator Obama's campaign as "revolutionary":

MANAGUA, Nicaragua: President Daniel Ortega, who led the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua, says Barack Obama's presidential bid is a "revolutionary" phenomenon in the United States.

"It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change," the Sandinista leader said Wednesday night as he accepted an honorary doctorate from an engineering university.

Ortega led a Soviet-backed government that battled U.S.-supported Contra rebels before he lost power in a 1990 election. He returned to office last year via the ballot box....

Ortega also called Obama a spokesman for the millions of Central American and Mexican citizens who migrate to the U.S. in search of work, though polls indicate most Latino voters so far have favored Clinton over Obama.

Excerpt: Readers of my previous post may wonder if I hold Clinton responsible for 9-11. Let me clarify. I do believe that his actions and his inaction directly led to 9-11. The structural faults in our intelligence machines, the treatment of terror...... (Click here to read full post)
