Ohhhh Huckabee ...
I thought that was Bill Clinton's comment to Juanita Broderick.

Dude!
I {heart} Huckabee.

Personal Property Rights
Huckabee's comments today show me that he is against personal property rights. Therefore he is unfit to be President.

Let's see: Giuliani doesn't think Illegal Immigration is a crime

McCain likes Illegal Immigration.

Paul wants to cut and run from Iraq.

Romney wants it both ways on Immigration.

I don't ask for much. I just want a candidate that agrees with me on three issues: Immigration, Judges, and the war.

If you waver on any of these you can kiss my vote goodbye.

Are you sure...
he wasn't sticking up for Larry Craig?
TheEngineer writes: Saturday, October, 06, 2007 10:28 AM
Agree about rights
He won't have my vote because he wants a big, bloated federal government to tell Americans what is best for them. Be it smoking (which I don't do) or Internet gaming (I do play poker...see my blog), Huckabee is just a Democrat with different issues.

Do you all want the government to tell you how to live? How to raise your children? What values to have? I don't. If we want smaller, less intrusive government, we can't vote for candidates who promise big government solutions.

Smoking and Non Smoking areas
worked for decades. The restuarant owner divided it, based on his floor plan, and what was best for his business. The consumer was then allowed to vote the business owner out of business by NOT patronizing his business.(Free Enterprise)When he continued to have a successful business, it was a vote to keep him in business. Never in the History of America was someone kidnapped in their home and forced to eat at a restuarant against their will! Where we went astray was not designating a "SCREAMING BABY SECTION"!....Ha-Ha.

no more big government conservatives please.

I’m a Smoker
I have no problem with banning smoking in certain contexts; however, anti-smoking Nazis cross the line! When concern for public health is overshadowed by a desire to impose will over people’s personal choices, I have a problem with that.

The most significant sources of second-hand smoke are transportation, power plants, and factories. I ride my bicycle more than drive my car. How healthy is it for me to be sucking-up car, truck, and bus fumes? I just figure it’s a necessary evil; people, understandably, are not going to leave their cars parked when I decide to go bike riding.

Should controls and taxes be applied to anything that emits smoke; how about BBQs and fireplaces?

Yes, sometimes I do indeed want the government telling people how to raise their children. For example, do you think a father should be free to have sexual intercourse with his twelve year-old daughter in order to "teach" her about sex? Or that a mother should be free to leave her toddler locked in a car for eight hours when the temperature is in the 90's, so she can go to the Casino to gamble? How about parents leaving their kids alone for a week while Mom & Dad enjoy a vacation in Acapulco? Or a stepfather chaining a nine year-old girl to a radiator to keep her at home? Or a child being kept in a cage? Or parents allowing teens to get roaring drunk in their home, after which party two kids drove home drunk and killed themselves in a car crash?

Do I have an evil imagination? No; I have a subscription to a newspaper: every one of these items describes something actually done by a real-life parent. Hopefully some low-life parents will hear what ensued and be scared of getting arrested if they do these things, since common sense and conscience don't seem to work all the time.

I'm a non-smoker
and I think smoking bans suck!

If second hand smoke is so bad, why doesn't the nanny government make tobacco illegal? The answer is simple....government is too addicted to tobacco tax revenues to be consistent!

for Lady Logician
Lady Logician asks: "If second hand smoke is so bad, why doesn't the nanny government make tobacco illegal? "

Because the Government still remembers what happened when they tried to make alcohol illegal.

Ever hear of Eliot Ness and the Untouchables?

PARDONS, PARDONS, PARDONS
I'm waiting for an article or blog on Huckabee's pathetic record of pardons and communtations as governor.
M_from_Idaho writes: Saturday, October, 06, 2007 10:09 PM
Absolutely irrefutable?
Huckabee says it's absolutely irrefutable that second hand smoke is harmful. . .
My understanding of the data, and I don't claim to be current, is that second hand smoke is definitely harmful if you are around it all the time, but the data is inconclusive for those who are exposed only occasionally to it.(with the exception of those who have respiratory problems)
Updates anyone?
DevilsPaintbrush writes: Saturday, October, 06, 2007 11:45 PM
Cigarettes are not illegal
Because politicians are more addicted to the tax revenue than smokers are to nicotine. You can't by votes with nothing.
Tazzmax writes: Saturday, October, 06, 2007 11:52 PM
Huckle- berry
is full of it, just like all the rest of the RINOs,....as far as I am concerned, he can "stuff it" where the sun doesn't shine, I'll never vote for him!
