I should have picked that up from your earlier post.
I disagree with you about Phil. I don't believe he actually wants the GOP to lose. I think he's basically in the same mindset as I - ambivalent. I really am fairly indifferent as to which liberal wins because neither are going the direction I want to go.
I also understand, as I have said before, those who think the best way to change is to go along with the GOP and hope to change it from within. I have actually tried to talk myself into that as well, but I just can't.
I'm juist doing what my own conscience dictates to me - doesn't mean that's right for anyone else. |

Party Unity My A$$ = PUMA. At least that is what the Hillary supporters mean by it. So if you want to label yourself with it, by all means.
I understand your principaled opposition to John McCain and your reluctance to vote for him. I disagree, but I respect that (and I understand the merits of your arguments). You need not explain it.
But Phil wants the GOP to lose. He actually wants Barack to win. Not because he is a Barack fan, but because he wants the Dems to totally screw up the country so there is a conservative rewakening. I find that irresponsible and I will resist that. |
|
If I wanted Democrats elected wouldn't it stand to reason that I would actually vote for a Democrat?
I would NEVER vote for that socialist/Marxist Obamessiah.
I have explained my position before so it doesn't do any good to restate it.
My question was, I don't know what "PUMA" stands for. Care to enlighten me? |
|
But you have to also join the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits and like Hillary Clinton to be a true PUMA! I know Pasadena PUMA is no Hillary fan, but he does prefer her to McCain (has said so in the past).
As for the different teams, the original analogy does not really work. The point is you do not help conservative causes by getting Democrats elected. It is really that simple. If you want to change the GOP, the best way is within not from the outside.
I disagree with voting third party because you do not like McCain (but I can at least respect yours and Scarlet's position on the subject), but Phil is a bully about it. His latest is to write to him privately on his secret plan onhow to drive me off TH. How cowardly. A man would not do that. Then again, pershaps he is in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits.
Well I have thrown down this challenge. If McCain loses I will leave TH quietly. If McCain wins, Pasadena Phil can hit the road. |

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees, last I checked, were in different leagues. Why would my Red Sox or the Evil Empire Yankees care what the Braves are doing?
I'm just saying. By the way, how about what the Sox have done to the Pinstrippers the last two days. Could be the KO?
By the way, maybe I have been paying too much attention to baseball, but can someone help me with the acronym "PUMA"? Just wondering if I should consider myself one? |

Suicide of the Democrats
The defence is in ruins, the 'keeper has died and, miraculously, the striker is on side and facing an open goal. That, roughly, was the position of the Democratic Party at the start of the American election campaign. Bush was less popular than cancer, Cheney was out-sinistering The Joker and the economy had gone weird. But then, in the great tradition of the Donkey party, the Democrats proceeded to shoot themselves in both feet prior to stepping on a rake. Denver is a debacle with hordes of mad, Hillary-briefed women stealing the coverage while McCain creeps ahead in the polls. Hillary said as little as she could get away with and God knows what Bill will say - he'll probably take credit for motherhood, the McFlurry and Michael Phelps. Post-primary Obama is over-cautious. Standing before that open goal, he's lining up his shot like Tiger planning a putt. He is, I would guess, within a few days of losing the election.

The GOP and conservatives would be wise not to follow the advice of Pasadena PUMA. We should just get out of the way of the Democrats and Obama as they throw themselves down a flight of stairs.

He's not going to do anything for McCain. He has little experience on the national stage - and so far his performance is not even lukewarm. He would get crushed in the debate.
He doesn't help in any key state. If Mac picks him, he is taking a risk. Maybe he feels he has the momentum to do so, but the safe, solid pick is still Romney by a very long mile. |

Joe, you are dumb as a post [Okay, you are off your psychotropic medication again].
That's why no one listens to you [Well some do and some don't, you seem to care].
If Hillary supporters vote 3rd party, is that a good thing or a bad thing? [It is a good thing because it weakens support for Barack Obama].
Is that a vote for Obama too? [No, obviously not].
Stuck on stupid. But that's what happens when you hold your nose and cut off the circulation to your brain.[Again, up those meds].
If your favorite team, say the Red Sox, start losing to everyone, are all the other teams the Yankees? [Well following your analogy, no all the other teams are not the Yankees, except the Yankees. But under your premise, Barack Obama plays for the Yankees. Since I know you are a RedSox fan, you know better than to root for or do anything to help the Yankees. But if you started rooting for say the Braves (representing Bob Barr) that would not necessarily help the Yankees. But voting for Alanta Brave Bob Barr and encouraging voting against McCain only helps Yankees Barack Obama. So yes, you are effectively acting as a supporter of the Yankees].
You're probably too stupid to follow the logic anyway so why do I bother trying? [I understand you hate McCain. Fair enough. But your obsession with defeating McCain when that means electing a candidate who is actually far worse is just amazing to me. I understand your logic, I just disagree with it].

I agree only insomuch that it would look like a pick from a stance of weakness on McCain's part. Other than that there is no similarity.
I don't know what it is but everytime I utter Pawlenty's name I yawn.....I'm just sayin. |
|
Pawlenty is Biden!
A safe pick, sure not to torque anyone off too much.
Pawlenty doesn't seem like a mavericky enough pick for McCain. |
|
|
I think Pawlenty is the right pick. He's got a great story, is very smart, a good performer, and is prepared to lead. Pawlenty is not the "safe choice," Romney is! He's already a known commodity with little to no upside. His unfavorability ratings are incredibly high, negatives are high, and comes across as a liar and a fake. On the other hand, Pawlenty is a great conservative leader with actual core values. Even if he is little known, he will get a week of good coverage to even that out. He is clearly the best pick, more so than the Ken Doll. |
|
ROFLMAO....brilliant!!!
McCain very well might not need Romney to win the election but I hope he picks Mitt because the country surely needs him.
Mitt Romney is an Olympian (keeping with the theme) in the world of problem solving. American's like people who solve problems especially successful ones. |
|
I say Romney would be the best candidate.
Let the dems attack. I don't think McCain will let that effect his decision. The maverick in McCain will go for it.
Both McCain and Romney are big boys, and both will do extremely well in the upcoming debates, which is where most people finally decide who they like. McCain is going to crush Obama in the debates, and Romney? OMG he is going to utterly destroy Slow Joe Biden. It will be brutal.
Personally, I think he's keeping Joe in everyone's face, so when he does appoint Joe to his cabinet, it won't be a surprise.

We the People of the United States of America have the right to have our borders and our laws respected and enforced.
Citizens of other countries illegally in our country have no right to demand anything from our government. They most certainly have the right to petition the governments of their home countries for change if they are unhappy with their home country. If they want to be Americans, we have a path to citizenship, more generous than any other nation, and it starts in their home country.
We need to insist on the equal protection, application and enforcement of the law or devolve into anarchy. Our Republic only functions if everyone follows the same rules. We should not change the laws to accomodate those breaking them.
If America annouces to the world "We can't stop you, so come on in" with another amnesty, the deluge will be overwhelming. If 3,000 a day didn't get your attention, then wait until it's 10,000 a day. We cannot sustain this influx and survive as a nation. We must speak up and speak to each other about this and not let false claims of racism or bigotry be used to intimidate us into silent assent. America is not Congress' to give away. America belongs to We the People. Speak to your neighbors, speak to your coworkers, but please speak up to your Congressmen and Senators. It's O.K. for us to enforce our laws, no really, it is.
Someone please tell Sen. McCain.
|
|
Sen. McCain is a trained naval aviator. This is a class of Americans that takes risks. They "come in unannounced and unexpected."
There are fine unspoken potential Veeps in our GOP.
Trust a sober and sound man such as Sen. McCain to promote one to be his latest wing support.
The deck may pitch and roll but the tilly grabs and the craft lands sound. |

|
Are you joining the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits Too?
Yeah, being a conservative PUMA to help elect Barack Obama is a bad thing. |
|
Romney to beat Obama. I predict that Barack will not even get a big bump after his Big Fat Greek Convention. Lord Obama is coming off as a caricature of himself.
McCain can take this guy down if he plays it safe (ergo Pawlenty).
I'm a big Romney fan, but that would give the Obamamedia a large target to aim at (unless Huckabee can be made to do the right thing and stop player-hating on Romney--small chance of that happening).
If McCain picks Romney, I will be pleasantly surprised. But he can win this one without Romney. |
|
|
Why? Conservatives are not nose-holding robots. Call us whatever you want but the fact remains that the GOP has allowed the Dems to select its candidate and you nose-holders are just going to go along with it like robots. Eat crapola, it's all you are being offered by the elites. |
|
|
|
can you imagine responding to all the ads. It would eat up McCain's limited funds. That's what the left is hoping for. Pawlenty is safe, but could he be POTUS? Pawlin is wise beyond her years and very conservative.
I choose: Michael Steele. Attack him!? n/t |
|
and is interested in the future of America's prosperity he'll pick Romney.
If he's scared & weak about the houses attack he'll pick Tim Pawlenty.
If he is feeling invincible he'll pick Lieberman. |
|
He's going to outmaverick himself and surprise everyone with his reaching across abilities.
|
|
Helps the GOP. But wait a second, Conneticut's Governor is a Republican. My mistake, I just assumed Conneticut had a Democratic Governor. Will she appoint a Republican to replace him?
What are the state rules in Conneticut about a U.S. Senator stepping down, is it the Governor who gets to pick the replacement to finish out the term?
Still, not Veep. Give Lieberman a cabinet post. |
|
the curtain.
Romney or Pawlenty.
No Lieberman. |
|
|
I like Romney, but unfortunately, he wouldn't help Party unity. Too much crap would fly in the way of Dem commercials. They wouldn't be able to reciprocate the hell McCain has caused Barack for picking Biden. |
