Incumbent Smackdown...Returns Show Them Trailing (UPDATE: Lieberman Concedes, McKinney's Out)
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 8:59 PM

LIEBERMAN/LAMONT:

Fox is reporting that CT has only about 11 percent of precincts reporting, but Lamont is up 56-44 so far.

Apparently, there was an exit poll, but no one's using it for projections.

Hotline also documents an early bad sign for Lieberman-- a blue-collar town precinct going for Lamont by a slim margin.

UPDATE 9:20pm: 38 percent reporting-- 54-46, Lamont

UPDATE 9:26pm: Sixers says with 38 percent, it amounted to an 8,000-vote lead for Lamont.

UPDATE 9:29pm: Republicans for Joe?

UPDATE 9:34pm: RCP has a late-afternoon report of Joementum. Might've been too late.

UPDATE 9:59pm: Lamont leads Lieberman 52-48 with 69 percent reporting.

UPDATE 10:33pm: Lamont leads Lieberman 52-48 with 84 percent reporting.

UPDATE 11:06pm: Lieberman just conceded the Democratic Primary.

MCKINNEY/JOHNSON:

UPDATE 9:46pm: With 16 percent reporting, McKinney's down 64-36.

UPDATE 10:49pm: 66 percent reporting, McKinney down 58-41. (H/t Lorie)

UPDATE 11:12pm: Joe: "You can go to my Web site tomorrow, www.joe2006.com, when it's unhacked."

Drudge on McKinney:

McKinney Trails...
Georgia, U.S. House Democratic District 4
Precincts Reporting: 20 of 167 (12%)
Hank Johnson 2126 74%
Cynthia McKinney (I) 745 26%

Of course Cynthia McKinney's staff person threatened a photographer:

Her staff asked photographers to keep their distance -- which they did -- until McKinney rolled down her window and motioned to a reporter. The photographers approached, thinking she was about to give an on-camera interview.

At that point, a staffer again got between the vehicle and 11Alive's Kathy Bourn.

"That's right, and I'll touch you again, if you do it again," the staffer said.

You really gotta love those humble citizen legislators.

Jeff Emanuel is live-blogging the McKinney race from Johnson headquarters in Dekalb.

Dignan was live-blogging throughout the day:

9:12AM - Just received a report from a friend in central DeKalb that the Hank Johnson supporters near her polling place were many and appeared well organized.

10:15AM - Wow! Just voted at my polling station next to Oglethorpe University. Poll workers said that around 230 people had voted so far today and that there had been a steady stream all morning. This sounds like a stronger turnout than some were expecting.

10:30AM - Another report from Briardawg: “I voted at Oak Grove precinct north central DeKalb. I was number 135 at 8:30 this morning, but I did not get a break down of how may GOP or DEM ballots had been cast.
Hank Johnson had supporters along Briarcliff Road and in front of Lakeside High and Oak Grove Elementary. There were large “vote today” signs along with persons holding Hank’s red signs. It looked very well organized.”

UPDATE: The rest of my updates can be found at Dignan’s 75 Year Plan.

Here's MUCH more from Dignan, and a warning not to get so excited about McKinney trailing:

9:15PM - We are now at 13% reporting with the percentages still the same. However, looking at the county returns, the only precincts reporting so far have come from Gwinnett and Rockdale counties, which were expected to be won handily by Johnson. So we still have a long way to go until DeKalb County starts reporting some precincts.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's MSM bloggers seem kinda slow...just sayin'...
