Palin on Senate Ambitions
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 3:01 PM
Governor Sarah Palin has been storming the networks (FOX, CNN, NBC) since the election ended, fielding questions about the campaign and her future in the Republican party.

She sat down with CNN's Wolf Blitzer earlier today for yet-to-be aired interview and Blitzer asked her willingness to run for the Senate. She didn't rule it out.

BLITZER: Do you want to be in the United States Senate?

PALIN: I believe that I have – I feel I have a contract with Alaskans to serve. I’ve got two more years in my term. I’m going to serve Alaskans to the best of my ability. At this point it is as governor. Now if something shifted dramatically and if it were, if it were acknowledged up there that I could be put to better use for my state in the U.S. Senate, I would certainly consider that but that would take a special election and everything else. I am not one to appoint myself or a member of my family to take the place of any vacancy.

Dramatic shifts could certainly occur in the days ahead. If Alaska's disgraced senior senator, Ted Stevens, wins his recount he might not be seated by the Senate because of his recent conviction. If that happens, Palin could run for the seat in a special election early next year. Palin could also challenge Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski in 2012. (Notice she took a shot at Lisa's dad, former GOP Governor Frank Murkowski. Frank appointed daughter Lisa to the Senate when he won his  gubernatorial race. Palin later became Governor by unseating Governor Murkowski.)

I laid out Palin's path to the Senate in a previous post HERE if anyone wants a recap of applicable state laws.

about that...
...she already said she wouldn't appoint herself in the interim because it would be "hypocritical" of her to do so. Check out out the Bob & Mark radio show: http://www.bobandmark.com .

The best part is hearing Piper Palin consider the Presidency. ;-)

Palin to the Senate...
...would be the Stupidest Move Ever.

Why so?
It doesn't have to be an exhaustive list of reasons why you feel this way, just something to support your assertion.

Palin in The Senate
Palin in the Senate would be much better than the current crop of no-goods who run the show now.

Palin
would just become another one of the no goods.
Better to stay where she is and continue to accrue actual experience running a successful (state) government than become a nobody in the US Senate. If she did win Stevens seat, anyone think she'd do a darn thing in the Senate that could be called useful experience when running for President?

I think at this time, she needs to hold her cards close to her chest, lay low and gain experience and allies. If she hadn't been a VP candidate, I would say go for it. But she's too much on the radar now and the Democrats are scared of her so would do everything in their power to minimize her if she got to the senate anytime soon.

...and maybe go visit a foreign country or somethin'...Altho that's alien to today's bumpkin GOP...

Hmm, I wonder how many airline miles that non traveling today's bumpkin GOPer Condi Rice has?

It'll be interesting...
to see if the people of Alaska call for their governor to make the move to D.C. Based on the caliber of current members in the US Senate, she exceeds standards.

Unemcumbered by the thought process, yet another liberal weighs in with more tired, anti-Palin slander.

Other than illustrating that you are a typical
leftwing dullard, mike, I'm not sure what your post accomplished.

No please, Palin 2012!
I'm happy to watch your party go down again. Until you figure out her folksy anti-thought TV charm is a smokescreen for a total political lightweight.

We could do a lot worse in the
Senate in 2012 than Sarah. The would give her more quality experience and she could learn from Obama and his leftist illuminati cabinet and then do the opposite of what they do.

Right, Need to Visit Foreign Countries
Unlike current Washington intellectuals Governor Palin likeloy knows that Canada and Mexico are not part of the USA and that the Big 3, USW and the political allies have been ripping off the rest of the country for 60 years. A large part of her attraction is that she went after corrupt and self serving politicians in Alaska. We need that in Washington and in all our state governments. The country is long past the time it is rich enough to afford the everyday waste politicians consider part of the process.
