Reid Gives Burris Path to Senate

Roland Burris appears to be getting the green light from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, albeit with some requirements.

Democratic leadership basically said three things needed to happen before they would give the full Senate a floor vote on Burris's fate. First, the Illinois Supreme Court needs to rule whether or not the Illinois Secretary of State needs to sign-off on the appointment, Burris needs to publicly answer questions about his relationship with Blagojevich and the Senate Rules Committee needs to make a favorable recommendation.

Update: Does anyone besides me find it hypocritical that Reid is insisting Burris answer questions about his discussions with Blagojevich, while Reid has refused to answer any questions about the same thing? We know which people was ruling out for the appointment, but we still don't know who he was pushing...

needs to answer for his connectiopns with blogo before demanding others to dont ya think. That arrogant a-- needs to go back to nevada and stay out of our life.And some of the worst crooks and idiots in congress are acting like KING and I believe its time we cleaned house and started with new people who arent crooked or plain idiots like so many in congress are.

I agree with you on Reid. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel though, political rumor has it that he is worried about losing his seat in the next election. Hopefully this means that the good people of Nevada have finally tired of this idiot making fools out of them and himself. Ahhh, if we can only put some truth in the waters of San Fran, then maybe we could finally be rid of San Fran Nan as well. Here's to hoping!

Even though the Bush/Cheney crowd gave it their best shot with "The Patriot Act," we still have our basic rights in tact. Blago might be a creep and a foul-mouthed punk, but until he is indicted, tried and convicted he is still innocent until proven guilty. The power of the Governor should remain in place, including the right to appoint a Senator to replace Obama.

This whole tantrum is a staged event. Blago saved the Dems from possibly losing a special election. Reid and Obama just needed some plausible deniability and appear not to be linked to Blago. Now the trifecta will be complete when Princess "You know" Kennedy and Caligula's back half of the horse, Al Franken get into the Senate. The greatest show on Earth. Too bad it is a circus.

Rarely do I agree with you, but your post is 100% correct. Burris is not a part of the tangled web that Blago has spun, he should be seated. I believe you will find that all republicans feel this way.

Well it seems that Mr. Reid is finally backpedaling and letting this guy in. Reid saying that the second signature wasn't there so Burris was not acceptable. Even though the second signature is simply a hospitality thing and not leagally needed in such cases. What a joke this entire endeavor is! Just another instance of how Chicago politics will eventually be able to stick to the teflon president...it's only a matter of time when enough Americans start to wonder how so many people can be connected to the president are dirty but he is always clean.
