The Chicago Way? That's Not Change You Can Believe In ...

Sean Connery in the "Untouchables": "He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way. And that's how you get Capone." (1987)
Obama: "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." (Barack Obama, Remarks At Fundraiser, Philadelphia, PA, 6/14/08) FLASHBACK: Obama: "I chose to run ... because I believed that Americans of every political stripe were hungry for a new kind of politics, a politics that focused not just on how to win but why we should, a politics that focused on those values and ideals that we held in common as Americans..." (Barack Obama, Remarks At Campaign Event, Des Moines, Iowa, 12/27/07)

I am so sick of hearing that the tax cuts are for "the rich". I am NOT the rich, making less than $100,000 a year in one of the hightest cost of living areas in the country. I am among the middle class that is going to suffer most from the increase of taxes if Obama gets in. I WAS among the lower class most of my life that had to WORK my way up to middle class.
And....Obama is an empty suit. He is a con who is also a puppet for the media and other America-hating people of power and affluence. If the dude gets elected as president, the clueless will find out the truth and eat their words. But of course they will never own up to their own bad choices and place the blame on the Republicans or anyone else.

QUESTION: Whom does this describe (Obama or Ayers):
- Gun down political opponents - Anti-Military views - Meet with US enemies - Blame the US Govt for all problems
ANSWER: Correct!
Both men hold these views.
|
|
Senator Obama is promising the moon for the middleclass, and this is going to take money - lots of it. Pay-as-you-go is a nice sound bite in the senator's make-believe world. In the real world, it has little meaning.
This isn't about Senator Obama or Senator McCain; it's about the future of this country. Throughout his adult life, Senator Obama has surrounded himself with questionable characters and has little real world experience to prove his fitness for president.
In Obama, a lot of people are seeing what they want to see - not what is there; for no matter how hard I look, all I see is much flowery rhetoric and very little substance.

I thought of Sean Connery in "The Untouchables" the moment I saw the Obama knife/gun quote and irony of the phrase "that's the Chicago way." Good going, ML.
I'm starting to wonder whether Obama has ever had an original thought. Whenever he speaks off-the-cuff, his statements are filled with "..uh..", "...ummm...", "...you know...", "...that's not..uh...well...it's not really." So, when he does manage to make a relatively cogent statement, we should assume that, somewhere, there's a source from which whatever he says has been lifted. |

"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." - Barak Obama
...and just this morning, I saw a clip of his preaching "fatherhood" from behind a pulpit on Sunday...
Maybe the poor guy's just bitter.

He rushes to our resume as a savior, superhero, et al. He has no plan, no policy's worth a darn. He's done very little in his life, but he does have dazzling smile, and a magic cape to make us all 'feel better'.
Captain ZERO! The great Obama! The wonderful O-Man! The campaign about NOTHING! (But gee, I sure feel good!) |

This is unbelievable:
Ayham Alsammarae, Iraq’s slimy ex-Minister of Electricity under the Bremer and Allawi administrations, who had escaped from an Iraqi prison by hiring an American security company to break him out back in December 2006, has resurfaced in the Jordanian capital Amman where he gave a press conference today saying, among other things, that he hoped that the insurgency in Iraq “would continue [against U.S. occupation] and avenges the Iraqi people.”
Alsammarae, an Iraqi-American Chicagoan, added during remarks carried by Radio Sawa (Arabic link) that he had contributed the maximum allowable of $2,300 to Barack Obama’s campaign. But there’s another Obama link to Alsammarae: while serving as electricity minister Alsammarae had been involved in brokering deals in the Iraqi electricity sector for Antoin Rezko, Obama’s long-term friend and patron. Rezko is the Syrian-American hustler who was convicted of fraud in an Illinois court on the day that Obama secured the Democratic nomination.

If you really believe that this is Obama's base, you're going to have a Dickens of a time come January 20'th, 2009. Man, I'm glad I'm not you. |

Presidents do virtually _nothing_ but sign, or attempt to veto, bills from Congress. With the exception of Executive Orders, (which in the final analysis are _still_ virtually under the power of the Congress to fund or legislate into actual existence), the CIC has almost no inherent ability to bring into existence ANY of the things they bleet about for the 'public record'.
For god's sake, if your gonna give anyone credit for the tremendous growth in the US economy, present circumstances included, give it to Alan Greenspan, Diehard Capitalist.
Shortsighted idiocy and lobbyist pandering in the _Congress_ is what has screwed the economy straight into the ground, vis-a-vis our gas and biofuels woes.
I'm no one special, but do what I am starting to become much better at. Skip this crap and write yer' congressman. I gotta' go lick some stamps...jdg |

. . . sounds like something out of Nixon's so-called "Department of Dirty Tricks" circa 1972 (as the media would've had you believe). Come to think of it, anyone notice that the name "Obama" is a crypto-anagram of "Nixon"?
That whole organization itself smacks of a smear outfit.
And any candidate who sanctions such a group, I'm sorry to say, does not deserve to be elected President. |

Restore Fiscal Discipline to Washington
Reinstate PAYGO Rules: a critical step in restoring fiscal discipline is enforcing pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) budgeting rules which require new spending commitments or tax changes to be paid for by cuts to other programs or new revenue.
Reverse Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy: Obama will protect tax cuts for poor and middle class families, but he will reverse most of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest taxpayers. For those with incomes over $250,000.
Make Government Spending More Accountable and Efficient: Obama will ensure that federal contracts over $25,000 are competitively bid. Obama will also increase the efficiency of government programs through better use of technology, stronger management that demands accountability and by leveraging the government's high-volume purchasing power to get lower prices.
Obama has called for an end to subsidies for oil and gas companies that are enjoying record profits, as well as the elimination of subsidies to the private student loan industry which has repeatedly used unethical business practices. Obama will also tackle wasteful spending in the Medicare program.
Barack Obama's Record
PAYGO: Obama voted in 2005, 2006, and 2007 to reinstate pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) federal budget rules.
No-Bid Contracts: Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.
Against Raising the Federal Debt Limit: In 2006, Obama voted against misguided Republican efforts to raise the statutory debt limit at the same time the Republicans were pushing through massive debt-financed tax cuts for the wealthy.
McCain is going to be so out-classed at any TownHall or Debate it's going to be sad to watch.

Post script: If Obama is elected, and things actually do get better (more personal freedom, strong economy, less government regulation, lower taxes etc) I will be more than happy to admit I was mistaken about him. Since that's not what he is calling for at this time, you can understand why conservatives don't expect him to do well. In fact he is calling for the oppposite of what I stated as 'better'- more taxes, more regulation, less personal freedom. None of these things have made things better during my lifetime, and I'm a geezer, so that covers a long period. |

"...if history is any teacher, our economy will grow healthier under a Democratic president ..."
Please state what history to which you refer. If you are talking about Clinton, give credit where it is due. The Rep Congress and economic factors beyond Clinton's control. Before '94 Bill was headed left, rasing taxes etc. If you are talking about Carter.....OMG, you can't be talking about him. lol LBJ? Not so much. Progress finding solutions to dependence on oil? We already know what the solutions are, but they are not developed enough to replace our dependence yet [and it is going to be longer, not shorter before they are] and you Dems will not allow the development of nuclear energy. Meantime we must drill here, drill now. |
|
I think a lot of you are going to have to re-evaluate your thinking over the course of the next 4 years. If his work here in Chicago is any example, Barack Obama will make a great president. He's thoughtful, careful, and shows excellent leadership. His campaign organization has been amazingly effective, beating someone who absolutely everyone thought was a lock to be nominated. By forbidding his campaign organization from accepting any money from lobbyists, he won't find himself in the position that Bush or Clinton found themselves: owing favors to people who don't have our well-being in mind. Plus, if history is any teacher, our economy will grow healthier under a Democratic president and we may actually have some progress in finding solutions to our dependence on oil.
His biggest challenge will be overcoming the small-minded bigmouths who want to refer to him, without a bit of reason, as a "Neo Kommie" or to make fun of his middle name. The good news, is that appears to be all the GOP has to fight Obama, and I think most Americans (though not around here) have learned a very clear lesson in the downside of having another Republican administration. I mean, how bad does it have to get before people learn a lesson? If any of you can claim that the US is better off after the last eight years, step up now, and be prepared to be laughed off the page. |
|
|
...is the candidate for the elitist, mega wealthy lefties. He'll say anything to anyone at anytime to get himself elected to power. But like the true Neo Kommie that he is, once he is in power, LOOK OUT USA! The abject example of recent history is Hugo Chavez. Think it can't happen here? Just look at how far the neo kommie agenda has already been advanced over the last generation or so. This guy is scariest than any in my lifetime. |

has brought out McCain's 1974 thesis as fodder.
Now WHERE is Obama's thesis from Columbia concerning Soviet Nuclear Disarmament??
Surely people have taken note as to who was a professor at the university at the same time Obama was there. |
|
Obama had an opinion when it comes to habeas corpus ruling, but claimed to have had no knowledge whatsoever regarding the gun issue?
People are up in arms about illegal immigrants being given "rights" in the US and getting free services at taxpayer expense yet don't see a problem with the SCOTUS ruling? |
|

I am still waiting for your reply to my comments on Caol Liebau's post about taking blame. When are the Dems going to start attacking McCain [specifically on the issues I gave you] and stop being defensive and complaining about attacks on Obama. Attacking the opposition is normal politics for both sides. I don't see you, or other Dems, complaining when Obama/Dems say negative stuff or repeat rumors about McCain, like the thinly veiled comments about McCain's age. Mac's age is a legitimate issue. He is older than dirt, but in this election cycle, that isn't enough. You guys need to get after him big time. See Carol's post for good ideas. You can call it The Big Mac Attack. Is this really the party of Harry Truman? You can bet Harry would be hammering McCain. Come on Dems, get going. |
|
|
I find it odd that the two black spokes people don't have their face in front of the camera sticking up for their man. They stick their nose in every story that will get them on the nightly news. I have changed my mind about the long campaign, with the months going by the true sides have a way of slipping out for public view. Which is a good thing. It will be interesting what new developments will come out for public view in the next 5 months. I have a feeling the Dems, are going to regret being so mean to Mizz Hillary! |
|
|
You're a skan?. Nasty dirty no-good loose skan? |
|
|
|
Obama's true Chicago style politics are beginning to be seen.
I'm glad he's relaxing so much, hopefully so the voters can see the REAL Obama before they vote for him in Nov.
He'll bring 'guns' to try and beat McCain, but wants to talk it out with terrorists who want to destroy America. What a CIC he'll make....NOT!!! |
|
|
But I can't. Thus continues the unoriginal and plaigeristic tendencies of one Barack Obama. First Deval Patrick, then Mario Cuomo, and now Sean Connery. As someone once said, "Man, I can't believe we are losing to this guy" |
|
Trust, but verify. Hold McCain accountable (verify) but trust him to be loyal to his country and extremely hardworking in the White House.
Yes, we need to rally behind McCain and quit nursing our hurts from the GOP primary. McCain got the nod and he's in the face-off with a younger version of verbally slick Willy.
What will Obama do on the complex world stage without his trusty teleprompter (and his speech writers)?
I saw Obama's clip where he couldn't finish a simple sentence and then covered saying he couldn't hear himself because the crowd noise was too loud. What an obvious cover for his inability to think on his feet!
The name Chicago doesn't resonnate with positive change. Is Obama beginning to show his true colors of I deserve the way Hillary used to complain?
McCain can function under pressurel. He's vetted and Obama is politically wet behind the ears.
Obama projects himself as the common demoninator of goodness and American values that we collectively hunger for. I think NOT! He represents a relapse into the socialist world of simple, but failed policies that are plaguing Europe, an abdication of the bedrock principles of personal independence and responsibility that build this nation, and a substition of sour milk in a new container (his change ideas) as the hope of the free world.
This young emperor isn't wearing any political clothes; he's naked and we need a young boy to cry out the obvious.
|
|
What's the deal with all Obama's whining? It's distracting the press from all of Obama's low-life associations, significant progress in Iraq, his support for partial-birth abortions (ghoul), his "dead-cat bounce" in the polls (I borrowed that), his support for hard-left federal judges, his fear of nuclear power, his inability address press conferences, his inability to debate, his inability to meet McCain in townhall debates, and more.
Is anyone else beginning to question his intelligence and his masculinity? I find him lacking in both--and I'm alarmed. His allusions to "The Untouchables" is bizarre. He seems to be overcompensating for things that he lacks--again, intelligence and testicular fortitude. No wonder men aren't flocking to him. |
|
Well, of course you are going to bring a gun. You told them they were bitter and clinging to them, so yes, they will bring them.
What a lame statement. Does Senator Obama think before he speaks? |
|
trying to sound tough.
BTW, take Warner out of the VP mix.
Why is every reputable Dem running from Obama? |
|
|
That you will be asking for once the Obama Tax increases set in. |
|
|
|
|
now what meaning should we derive from the "gun" statement?? Hmmm.....assassination??? We all know that if the tables were turned and McCain made that statement at a fund raiser the Obama camp would be all over it, accusing McCain of racism and insinuating assassination. Of course, the MSM will likely totally ignore this statement (save Hannity), so I've taken it upon myself to send the statement along with it's source to everyone I know. Lets see if this one ends up on the "Fight the Smears" site? Maybe they should make another site called "www.stupidthingsisaid.com |
