All right, fine. I'm watching "The View" again. It just happens sometimes. I have no control over it.
Today, our friendly host Rosie O'Donnell accused Kelly Ripa of acting like a homophobe on "Regis and Kelly," when she had Clay Aiken on as a guest-host. What, pray tell, was the act that set Rosie off, making such accusations on national TV justifable? Here's the clip:
Clay claps his hand over Kelly's mouth because he felt like he wasn't getting a word in edgewise. Kelly's obviously upset by it, and says, among other things, "I don't know where that hand's been."
On "The View," Rosie and the girls talked about the Clay and Kelly incident, and Rosie, predictably, said Kelly's comment about where that hand had been was "homophobic."
"If that had been Mario Lopez doing that, she wouldn't have said that. As a gay woman, it seems to me, that was a homophobic gesture."
Kelly promptly called into the show and let Rosie have it, saying her comments were "irresponsible" and "she should know better. Not everything is homophobic." Kelly said she was concerned about germs because it's cold-and-flu season, and miffed that her guest-host had made a pretty rude, condescending gesture toward her.
Rosie laced her accusations of homophobia with the fact that she thinks Kelly's a "good girl" and "really good at that job," which she felt made everything okay. Rosie didn't back down. She defended the comments as "her view," and said "that's just how it came off." You know, "as a gay woman," which I guess means you can just throw around baseless accusations.
Thank goodness Kelly came at her. It was nice to see someone standing up to her other than Elisabeth. "The View" guest-host also stuck up for Kelly, saying she wouldn't want someone's hands on her face, and adding that shutting up your female co-host by putting your hand over her mouth isn't exactly politically correct, either.
I've always been a Kelly Ripa fan. Just like Elisabeth, she has a thousand times more class than Rosie. Maybe she'll be on the show more often if Rosie keeps insulting her. It'd make the programming better.
For the record, I think I would have had trouble not flipping out on someone if he clapped his hand over my mouth on national TV. She was totally right to be insulted. It was disrespectful.
I'm sure someone will have the video of the Kelly phone call any minute now. I'll keep an eye out.
Update: Watch the video over at the Political Pit Bull.

I think if there is anyone out there who needs a hand over her mouth, it would be smelly rosie. I've had enough out of that piehole. But, it is also nice to see two stupid liberals at it... |
I am gay and thought that Rosie O'Donnell comments were ridiculous. Not everything is homophobic. He was rude and most people would have reacted the same way that Kelly did. I don't get how Rosie can even remotely justify using the word homophobic to describe someone like Kelly Ripa when she would use the same word to describe someone who beats a kid to death while calling him a f****t. I wrote my thoughts about it on my own blog if anyone wants to check it out. http://think.dumblaws.com |

I happened to run across a standup comedian named Ron White on Comedy central while channel surfing. His act is probably too perverse for many folks, but I must admit that he made a very good point in his routine. In one part he is talking about all the medical ways that parts of the anatomy can be improved/fixed by surgery and he makes a point that is absolutely true::You just can't fix stupid!!!!!Ignorance can be cured by study and learning,,but stupidity is something that is permanent |
Rosie O'Donnell has all the class of a wart.
I don't watch the View, and if ever I had entertained the idea of doing so, which I didn't and don't, that notion would have been deep-sixed the moment they announced they were putting on the loud mouth. Good lord, with all the looks and talent available, they surely could have done better than this.
Kelly was right. She would also have been right to slap his face. Clay Aiken is a below-the-radar talent who should not be invited to fill the shoes, even on a temporary basis, of Regis. |
Rosie is just your typical homosexual extremist. They try to curb your free speech, they try to curb anything that is decent. She has no idea how much she marginalizes herself and every homosexual extremist out there. Anyways, Kelly Ripa is a homosexual extremist supporter, she isn't much better. She plays the PC game too. |
Please, Rosie can't help it. She's a Christian hating, facistic, athiest zealot. She doesn't have a free will, and she barely has an intellect. Rosie was born that way. Therefore, she can't help herself; she must act on her impulses.
I'm sorry, are my statements uncharitable? I'm simply drawing my conclusions from Rosie's philosophy. |
why dont they get that mixed gender hog off tv,nobody wants to hear her constant harping about what she thinks about anything, she is disqusting. |
someone please put the hog back in the stye ,it makes a terrible noise, suey, suey come libby suey, aaarrrghh |
I'm not afraid of homosexual practicioners, Allen, I'm afraid of God.
(Snap) girlfriend! |
So far the only gay person that scares me is Rosie.
I fell asleep watching one of the Star Wars movies one night and had a dream that Rosie the Hutt had imprisoned me and was going to feed me to the Michael Moore Rancor monster.
Oh, and Barbara Walters was chained to her and was...dancing. (shudder)
When I woke up I noticed I had severe lacerations on my eyelids from trying to claw my eyes out in my sleep.
Frightening. I haven't watched Star Wars or any other sci-fi movie since. So yeah, she's scares me. |
her mouth and I was offended just watching. If he had done that to be I would have slugged the little punk. How rude can you get?
For Rosie to make it into a homosexual thing is going way out there which she does on a regular basis. If she only know how little people care who she's sleeping with. Get over yourself Rosie, you are not that interesting. |
Since when does the gay community have exclusive rights over the use of the prefix "homo?" "Homophobia" is a misnomer.
I find P.J. O'Rourke's definition for this term right on target: "Fear of being afraid of the same thing all over again."
You think none of us have had gay friends. How, pray tell, would that be relevant even if it were true? |
"on the other hand, all of you homophobes here who are ripping Rosie and suddenly praising Kelly, uhm, you are hypocrites. Kelly Ripa has a ton of gay freinds and wouldn't like any of you..."
Who here is afraid of homosexuals? I just re-read every comment, and for the life of me I couldn't find anything anti-gay about any of them. Just like Ripa's statement. You're just like Rosey O'Quixote chasing windmills.
Take off the victim complex and you might find the scary images were just figments of your imagination. Stop being such a heterophobe. |
Rosy is a truly bizarre person who believes that she is far superior to all that follow. She has demonstrated many time her limo elitism. Remember her gun crusade and what a hypocrite she turned out to be. She is just a sick individual that will force her version of reality on the unfortunate that have little understanding of any realities outside of there own space. I would guess that she will crash and burn within 6 months....and that's to bad....the country needs to be reminded of the left and she does a good job of showing it. |
I guess if Kelly said that to a black person, she'd been labeled as racist. A fat person? Kelly then hates fat people. Give me a break! I'm what politicians call liberal. I believe in gay rights and acceptance but Rosie went way WAY too far on this one. First of all, I wouldn't want ANYONE touching me in the mouth with their hands. No telling if they just got finished using the toilet, blowing their nose, etc. because AMAZINGLY some gay & straight people dont wash their hands. Shocking, I know. Second, Clay was a GUEST. I'd like to hear from people who would let a person they barely know put their hands on their mouth like that. If you are a person who doesn't mind that disrespectful behavior, more power to you..and, oh..get a flu shot..PRONTO. |
This is a huge success for "The View." No one ever talked about this show before. Now, at least once a week, it's all the buzz. The sponsors must be laughing all the way to the bank. |
How the heck do we know what political party Mr. Aiken is from? How do YOU? |
Cak,
If Clay Aiken was a Republican you'd be screaming that his covering Ripa's mouth was just the sort of thing you'd expect to see from a Republican male. So please stop the faux outrage. |
that Rosie! trying to dominate the show. I was being patient with her but she is getting worse. |
Unfortunately, this writer only wrote tidbits to support her story. What was unfortunate about this entire ordeal was Kelly set the tone for the snarkism that took place on Friday. Clay Aiken made a mistake about putting his hand on Kelly, but he apologized. What this writer failed to mention is Rosie started off defending Clay because he was young and this was his first time at co-hosting a talk show. She later took offense to what Kelly said to Clay..."no telling where this hand has been." Kelly said she respects her guest, yet anyone who saw the Regis and Kelly Halloween show two years ago will remember her playing Clay and Regis playing Bo. She ended the skit by kissing "Bo". I think Rosie hit it on the nail. |
I'm 99.9% sure that Rosie's weight has nothing to do with her lack of intelligence. It's rather disturbing to see how easily some here and over at HA have immediately used her weight to attack her.
Just sayin. |
Who the hell is Clay Aiken?? |
This event only proves that the homosexual/same sex marriage proponents will take every opportunity to put forth their agenda. If someone put their hand over my mouth in that same fashon, I would break it off and feed it to them..It was a rude, crude action and Kelly handled it much better than I would have!! It is bad when it gets to the point we have to wear a hat on which is written,"Keep your damn hands off me!" |
I don't care who puts his/her hand where, as long as they keep it out of my space and off my body!! Had I been Kelly I would have had my hand slammping that fool right off the stool. Where and who raised this idiot?
Rosie is just the most unhappy person on earth. Seen from that angle, all you can do is dismiss her. |
...then if she survives, she might have a slightly different idea of what's "homophobic." She has absolutely no clue what that word means. They just throw it around because they know politically correct, spineless fools are so terrified of being insulted that they will just give in. Rosie is proving to be an amazing fount of ignorance that is not so much offensive as it is revealing. If she gets kicked off it won't be because she is offensive, but because she plainly says what most liberals think. That's proven by the applause after her other Christian-bashing comments. |
In the world of "political correctness" (see 'newspeak') one is open to denigration when interacting with any of a plethora of protected 'species' (Homosexuals, wimmmenn, Hispanics, blacks, transgenders, transvestites, mentally retarded, handicapped, Jews, native Americans, peace-loving Muslims etc.) if the offender is a 'prvileged hate-filled oppressor' white person.
Boorish behavior on the part of the protected one does not excuse the 'offender' in any way (see Rodney King et al). Straight white folks are guilty on the face of it and that is that.
Kelly Ripa's reaction may, in fact, have been a veiled reference to clay Aiken,s sexual practices or not. In my opinion, she did the right thing in putting this rude lowlife into his place.
BTW I am offended by anything associated with R. O'Donnell...so what?
"I think Rosie is getting out of hand and it almost looks while watching the view that Rosie trys to take control or over the show."
By the end of the first week she was on the show, I was seeing The View referred to in print as "O'Donnell's CBS show". (I think it was in the WSJ.)I remember thinking at the time that Ms. Walters might have something to say to that. |
I want to see MK flip out. But don't worry about recording it...YouTube is your friend!
isn't what they do to conservatives on talk shows basically the same as putting their hands over your mouth? They always have more liberals present, they always try to shout you down and they always give the liberals the last word.
So I guess what I'm saying is, when are you going to flip out on a TV appearance and please tell us so we can record it? ;) |
Do you suppose Rosie might be "heterophobic?" |
...according to Rosie.
If a known homosexual cuts you off on the freeway, and you flip him the bird, that's homophobic.
If your waiter is gay, and his service is poor, and you complain, that's homophobic.
If you think Rosie would get her butt kicked on a daily basis if she were a man, for all the loud-mouthed and knuckleheaded things she says, well, that's homophobic, too. |
Personally, I want Rosie to stay on the View. Not that I've ever seen the show except through YouTube via Mary K.
Since I get the filtered version, all I know about the View is how stupid and funny Rosie is on it.
Is it possible that Rosie is an evil comedic genius and this is all an act? |
I'm not a biter, but if someone put their hand over my mouth while I'm talking on national TV, they might pull back a bloody stump, like what happened when that gay british rocker on Real World London put his tongue in the wrong mouth. |
I know there have been rumors about Aiken, but has he actually come out of the closet? If not, it seems Rosie is either making assumptions or outing someone against his will. |
They need to boot Rosie for someone less shrill, smarter, and with less of an agenda.
Everytime she opens her pie hole she ends up on "You Tube".
Maybe they can replace Rosie with someone conservative to even the odds... gee... wonder who could do that... (nudge MKH) |
marginalize herself. I say let her have at it. |
I think Rosie is getting out of hand and it almost looks while watching the view that Rosie trys to take control or over the show.
They need to find another replacement
