Will Colin Powell
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 9:38 AM
vote Democratic?

Considering he's a McCain donor, I wouldn't read too much into this.

Update:  Also, Powell's son (Michael Powell) has endorsed McCain.

NO WAY!
I am certain Powell will vote for McCain!

John McCain Is Out of Touch
As a political independent I am searching for the best candidate to lead our country without regard to their political party. Considering the fact that the two main issues are the economy and the Iraq war and McCain's debate responses on these issues paraphrased were "I would surround myself with people who are experts" and "We'll stay there for a hundred years if we have to" tells me he is out of touch. Shouldn't he have some economic ideas and doesn't he realize the war is draining the economy as well as being unpopular with the majority? What makes our borders more secure by having our troops over there which seems to have become the justification for the war? How does this prevent the terrorists from coming over here?

Illustrative Of McCain's Leanings
The very fact that a high profile McCain donor could plausibly consider voting Democratic tells us all we need to know about McCain. Do I vote for a Democrat or Democrat-Lite??? Some kind of choice for us conservatives, huh!

I hear the interview...
It's obvious that Powell is doing his part to give credence to Obama and his campaign. As a leader in the African-American community, he is well within his rights to make it seem as though he might vote for Obama, even if it's rather certain he will not. I think it is a smart move on his part.

Its Called Manners
The one thing you can say about Colin Powell is that he has class. He is not going to trash another African-American, espeically one that may be of historical importance. However, Powell has donated to McCain and not been critical of McCain. Reading way too much into this.

Don't assume...
...that donating to one candidate in one race-- leading the GOP-- translates into a vote in the fall. Pay attention to this quote: "Frankly, we lost a lot in recent years," and consider that a Dem, particularly Obama, is better positioned to regain much of that. What a shot in the arm it'd be for our respect in the world!

I think Powell would
like to be the secretary of defense in the Obama administration.
