Politico: '... John McCain and Sarah Palin are getting hosed in the press, and at Politico'
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 11:14 AM
This is truly, TRULY unbelievable!  Politico admits "hosing" McCain, but says that doesn't make them biased (They say McCain objectively sucks, and they're just reporting on it).

"OK, let’s just get this over with: Yes, in the closing weeks of this election, John McCain and Sarah Palin are getting hosed in the press, and at Politico.

And, yes, based on a combined 35 years in the news business we’d take an educated guess — nothing so scientific as a Pew study — that Obama will win the votes of probably 80 percent or more of journalists covering the 2008 election. Most political journalists we know are centrists — instinctually skeptical of ideological zealotry — but with at least a mild liberal tilt to their thinking, particularly on social issues.

So what?"

My take:  That's fine, but it also seems to me that many -- if not most -- of the truly damaging stories about McCain have come from Politico.  For example, I think they asked McCain how many houses he owns -- and also broke the story about Palin's clothes (which appears to be not exactly correct, anyway, since some of the clothes were returned, etc.).    I've long wondered why the McCain campaign continues to grant them such access -- and even to help promote them.  So I guess you could argue that -- by continuing to grant exclusive to Politico -- McCain DOES deserve negative press ...

Granted, the McCain campaign has been less than perfect.  Everyone makes mistakes.  Joe Biden (God love him!) makes mistakes.  But clearly, there is a double-standard.  Biden's gaffes are forgiven; Palin's are obsessed over.  McCain gets criticized for running "negative ads," yet Obama has been more negative.  I could go on and on (and on and on)....

Finally, the Politico story is frankly a startling admission from a supposedly respected site.  Even assuming you buy their argument that they are biased for Obama simply because he is winning (not because of ideology) -- this is still an open admission of poor journalism...

What the Media taught me...
There are very few journalists out there.
The guy with the most money...wins
The 'truth' is what they say it is

I have rarely been as disgusted and heartbroken as I have been during this election.
Looking back at everything that has taken place for the past eight years (and, no, I am NOT a Bush fan), I have to wonder how much we weren't told. I know from the soldiers who have returned from Iraq that we built schools, that women voted for the first time in their life, that the Iraqui people were very friendly and often volunteered to cook dinner for smaller detachments (They declined), and I know that they don't live in fear every day of bombs going off in their streets. Parts of the country are still causing havoc, but Bagdad now looks like a real live, thriving town with lots of shops and vendors.
Being assured that they would NEVER report anything positive, I'm left wondering what else has the media held back.
Regardless of the outcome of this campaign, I will never subscribe to another newspaper and I'll stick to watching the Animal Planet.
If anyone at CNN told me the sky was blue, I'd go outside and look.
Because of them, I wouldn't vote for Mr. Obama, even if I was offered a dollar or a cigarette.
America loses big time, but now journalists have a lower acceptance rating than the current congress. They did it to themselves.

You guys would be hilarious if the underscore to your postings weren't so completely ignorant.

My, you lefties spend a lot of time on sites with which you disagree; and pontificate as if you are the font of all knowledge.

McCain may not be running the best campaign but neither has BHO throughout the past 18 months. The difference is the MSM has distinctly not reported his faults, associations(Ayres, Rezko), statements (redistribution of wealth) or policy preferences (e.g. BAIPA)to the same extent or with as much zeal as they have any of McCain or Palin's similar faults.

FoxNews simply demonstrates how far left the MSM has drifted in my adult lifetime. Only Brit Hume's report has a balanced commentary segment between libs and conservatives - certainly not CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.

Truly unbelievable, as the man said

Late last week Matt Lewis picked up and ran with the Ashley Todd story. It appeared on this blog under the headline "Anti-McCain Hate Crime".

Within 48 hours it was proved to be a crude hoax, but neither Lewis nor Hugh Hewitt, who played it up on radio, have apologized to readers of Townhall for misleading us.

But then maybe Lewis is too preoccupied lecturing others about partisan bias and lousy journalism.
Julie writes: Tuesday, October, 28, 2008 2:06 PM
The press is to blame for this:
The press have refused to reveal obama's shady ties, which IMHO will reveal as strong association with our enemies.

IMO, I fear we will wake up after the election or even later to find out we have elected an Taliban operative to the POTUS, and the press will be a big part of that blame.

I mean, think about it. BO is going after the rich. Those are the same Americans the Taliban targeted on 9-11.

That is exactly why they attacked the twin towers because it was a symbol of the rich.
The taliban would not dare attack us on our own soil again. Osama knows we would come at them at full force and attack any country suspected at harboring the terrorist.

The best way for them to cause death to America is to do it from the inside.

Why is it that Chavez, Achmadinejad(sp), Hamas has endorsed him so strongly? Because they want to have an operative in the White House to destroy us.

Why do you think BO does not want to drill? Because that would shuttle money AWAY from the middle east, and thus reduce his income from them.

I am not saying BO and others were sent straight from the middle east, but I do think they were looking for an American hater like him. I am sure he and his friends have been promised billions of dollars and protection.

I post this as my opinion and my fears. We all need to be very afraid. Any candidate that CHAVEZ ENDORSES should cause the American people to run from that candidate as far and as fast as possible.

And I blame a huge part of this possibility on the press.

Pensacola, Florida = Anti-American MSM
McCain raised questions about his judgment in his selection of an unqualified running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who, while energizing the "base,'' has been a flop with most voters outside of what she recklessly calls the "pro-American'' parts of our country.

And so we ask: Where is the McCain who warned that President Bush's tax cuts, without spending cuts, risked creating the deficits that followed? He now embraces them. Where is the McCain who once spoke with authority and reason on immigration reform? "We do not torture,'' John McCain famously, and courageously, said. But he now supports a presidential veto of an anti-torture law.

I used to be a quiet calm GOP'er
But this election has turned me into an angry, volatile, outspoken, sometimes wacko conservative.

I have seen these reports come out from journalist saying, ‘yes, we were biased and we think it was wrong how the GOP was treated.’

Well guess what, WHY IN THE HECK DID YOU NOT STAND UP MONTHS AGO?

Yes, our press is dead and now they are coming crawling back at the end of the election because they know they have pissed us off. The NYT stock has been reduced to junk status by the S&P. There are hundreds of news organizations laying off hundreds of people because these companies are tanking.

I DO NOT HAVE ANY SYMPATHY FOR ANY OF THE PRESS ANYMORE. You should have stood up MONTHS ago and admitted your biasedness. Now this pathetic attempt at apologizing for how horribly you treated the republican ticket is nothing but a shell game.

You press folk need to sit the 'f' down and shut the 'f' up because it is largely your fault that this country will be tanking in the near future.

The press absolutely sickens me.

Chuck Hagel = Tool Of The MSM
"I don’t believe she’s qualified to be President of the United States," Hagel told the magazine. "The first judgment a potential president makes is who their running mate is—and I don’t think John made a very good selection."

Hagel scoffed at McCain’s attempts to portray her as an experienced politician, according to author Connie Bruck.

"To try to make the excuse that she looks out her window and sees Russia—and that she’s commander of the Alaska National Guard." He added, "There is no question that this candidate is arguably the thinnest-résumé candidate for Vice-President in the history of America."

You probably proclaim to be liberal. You probably proclaim to be the descendent of peace and love and all the good stuff your friends of the 60's represent, and then you attack a woman with 5 kids who's got more courage in her little pinkie than you have in your entire soul. Yea, attack a woman with a kid with Down's syndrome and claim its her daughters kid. Go ahead and talk about how she dresses and her hairstyle. Mock her on a personal level and then claim the high moral ground. There is word on the street for people of such ilk -"punks". It is so easy to sit in your judgmental seat and rap on your keyboard about such irrelevant crap and make her the butt of your jokes while her and my kid defend your as- and allow you to spew your hate. You got no class and no brains. Yea, I'm white and proud of it- so what. I don't give a rats a-- whether that offends your pea brain a bit. White, black, red or yellow makes no difference to me. There are really only two types of people decent and indecent. Guess which one you fit in? The fact is Obama is a man who happens to be black and happens to be a socialist who espouses marxist ideas and if he weren't black he wouldn't be where he is. If that's racist to you- I DON'T CARE!

No bob. It is Obama fermenting racial division, hatred and class warfare. In California there is an effigy of Palin hanging from a noose. Can you even imagine the outcry that would ensue if this were an effigy of Obama? And not a soul on the left has decried this hateful event. The so called hateful things being yelled at Palin rallies have been all been debunked by the secret service and truthful journalists.

Centrist?
Claiming the MSM to be centrist is a joke. They are liberal, plain and simple. Obama is the most liberal, some might even say radical left person that has ever run for the presidency of the U.S. And what does the liberal press say is their reason for "hosing" McCain? Why, they say he is a lousy candidate. Funny, the MSM loved McCain whenever he went against Bush. No, the reason that the MSM has "hosed" McCain is that he is running as the republican. But, the real irony of the MSM and their absolute bias is that they have absolutely no credibility left. Maybe that is why the NYT has been downgraded to junk. Maybe that is why CBS, ABC and NBC news are all in the toilet. Maybe that is why the L. A. Times is on the verge of going out of business. Maybe that is why the overwhelming majority of Americans see the MSM as nothing more than an arm of the DNC.

When a "free" press fails to investigate one candidate because of political bias and knowingly withholds pertinent information that would damage that candidate, we need only look to China, North Korea, Venezuela and Russia to see what happens when the press is one sided. We all lose.
bob writes: Tuesday, October, 28, 2008 12:44 PM

maybe it's because your candidates (McCain/Palin) are running the worst campaign ever, Palin is not qulaified and acts as a divider, and there is actual HATE appearing from people attending campaign rallies and McCain nor Palin do nothing to quell it. They are disgusting for not clearly making a statement against it.

He's a black liberal-end of story
Sorry but this is the final story. He's Black and he's far left. That's all one needs to know. Racism exists and its on the left. I have no idea how Martin Luther King would view the world today, but if you take his words literally- "a man should not be judged by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character" you would have to come to the conclusion that that is NO longer applicable. Judging Obama's character is off limits- particularly from a white person. He is the prototypical victim representing the victim classes and any criticism is ripe for claims of racism. We have moved as Sean Hannity so correctly notes to the "end of journalism" as it died officially in 2008. We are a tyranny- a soft one at this time. No guns and physical coercion at this time, but mental and verbal manipulation of the airways to get a one sided point across. And it is with the perfect storm as Joe Biden said and I paraphrase "a black guy who is articulate and clean, blah, blah blah". Biden said this stuff when he was running for the presidency. To say that this is the America I served in the military and my son is now and my family for generations would be a lie. This is no longer a free country. This country has already fallen. You may say nonsense, but you would be wrong. Any country who's press behaves in these ways and is one sided is no longer free. Yes, we have these forums and the talk radio circuit, but for how long? It's a sorry fact- he's black and he's far left and it makes him invulnerable to true MSM criticism- that my friends (as McCain says so often) makes us unfree in a myriad of ways and the future is bleak. I could give a rats a-- about Political correctness and will never give in to the loons on the left-ever.

Politico and . . . . . Nancy

And, Nancy . . . .
"It would be one thing if they openly denounced the hateful ravings of their lowest of low base, but they haven't. Palin spoke in Des Moines where a woman loudly called Obama the n-word and Palin chose to ignore the comment and continue onward - even though she obviously heard it. Disgusting all the way around."

When was the last time Obama personally denounced verbal attacks against McCain . . . from anywhere? I would say never! And, I haven't heard yet whether Obama has denounced the actions/person that hung the likeness of Sarah Palin out his/her window. I believe I will be waiting a very long time.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the story of the person yelling obscenities about Obama is either not true, or this individual was an Obama plant. That has actually happened.

I am ignoring your last little quip since HuffingtonPost news is actually not news, but lies. The MSM and their online crony websites are going to try anything to get Obama elected. It would be intersting to find out (I probably already know the answer to this) where Obama would be in the polls if the MSM had actually covered him like they did any other candidate . . . investigating when necessary, and asking tough questions. We will never know.

If Obama is elected, he will be a President in the likeness of Wilson. For more information on President Wilson, check out "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg.

'"Our Team" has not lost every game.'

Yeah, they pretty much have. The McCain campaign has been averaging one serious newsworthy mistake per day, just enough to fill up the news cycle until the next one comes along. To find things that you can twist into Obama mistakes, you have to search the archives for things he said in 2001.

Just look at foxmustang's list above. Is there anything in it that isn't years or even decades old?

What if......
there was no Fox News? Years back, it might not have been a big problem. But with this election, thank God for Fox News. And standing pretty much alone in the integrity department, they may not be enough to get the truth out. They're greatly outnumbered by the MSM.
If not for Fox News, we would have LITTLE OR NO information on Obama and his relationships with:
1...Rev. Jeremiah Wright, United Trinity Church and the hate taught there, and the Black Liberation Theology.
2...William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, former Weather Underground Terrorists
3...Tony Rezko and the crooked property deal
4...ACORN, their voter registration fraud and strong-arming of banks for minority sub-prime mortgage loans
Also, if not for Fox News, we would probably have never known about Sen Chris Dodd (D) and his sweetheart mortgage loan from Countrywide.
Let's not forget Rep Barney Frank (D) and his gay male lover over at Fannie Mae. Dodd and Frank are the Senate and House leaders overseeing our financial system. Both clearly have conflicts of interest, should be investigated and probably imprisoned.
The MSM ignores or omits all these stories, hoping they'll go away. When Fox exposes the stories and their coverups, then the MSM becomes official "Democratic Party apologists".
SAD!!!!!!!

BM, the problem is that the reporters
are only covering one side of the story. "Our Team" has not lost every game. And some "errors" were misreported. Those of the opposing team are under-reported at best.

Like if the press only covered the total casualties at D-Day and the destruction of the paratroopers at St. Mere Eglise... while leaving out the rest of the story and the successful bridgehead and breakout...

One-sided press is what one expects Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Iran, North Korea, or other petty dictatorships. It is not the American Way. And it should not be rewarded.

Period.

Getting "hosed" is what the McCain campaign DESERVES at this juncture. He has sold his soul to give the far rightwing the dirtiest, most deceptive campaign in modern history. Don't think that the assassination plot by the skin head element of the fring-y right isn't somewhat attributable to the increasingly disturbing rhetoric coming out of Palin and McCain rallies of late. Enough of the "Objective Media"
If the media had even one ounce of self-respect, shame or decency they would just admit right now that they are liberals and want the liberals to win. They should quit demeaning themselves with their idiotic pronouncements of objectivity and just let everyone know where they stand.

BUT, that will be a cold day in hell because liberals have no self-respect, shame or decency! That is why they are able to wake up everyday and lie, cheat and steal. No one ever calls them on it because everyone recognizes their lack of decency and says, "What's the point trying to hold the indecent to a sense of decency?!"

What is truly depressing is that around 70% of Americans see the bias yet cannot help but fall prey to it.
