Brilliant Job, Governor Palin!
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 10:30 PM
With a solid, articulate, polished performance tonight at the debate, Sarah Palin made liars of the MSM, which has used edited interviews, elitist snobbery and repeated abuse to try to convince the American people that John McCain's running mate was nothing more than an ignorant, backwoods hick.

Governor Palin's strategy was to talk about what she wanted to talk about -- whether, as she put it, it was what her opponent or the moderator wanted to talk about.  This, of course, is highly defensible given that the world knows Gwen Ifill wasn't going to do much on terrain that's unfriendly to Barack Obama.

Yesterday, on KTLA here in LA, I said that it would be a mistake to underestimate Joe Biden in a setting like this one. He did a good job tonight.  It's no surprise that he's capable of holding his tongue in a debate format -- as he proved in the Democrat debates through the spring.  Unplugged, he's a goofball, but a likable one.  It was never realistic for Republicans to hope he'd implode in a controlled setting, and he didn't.  He did a very good job (aside, of course, from insisting that Iran is far from obtaining a nuclear weapon).

But it was Sarah Palin who smashed the expectations game out of hte park.   She denied the MSM the opportunity to play and replay a gaffe that supposedly would justify the contempt and vituperation they've heaped on her.

Sitting comfortably at home, it's easy to point out one missed opportunity.
For example, when Biden conceded that Obama might have to cut back on his foreign aid plan, it would have been great if she had pointed out that Barack Obama wants all of us to become global taxpayers.  But she was fabulous in pointing out that Biden supported most of John McCain's approach to the war in Iraq . . . until he landed on Barack's ticket.

Governor Palin was able to attack with a smile -- she called out Barack brilliantly on a reckless comment about our bombing villages in Afghanistan --and held her own with Biden every bit.   She likewise articulated her point well in rebuttal to his insistence that no surge can work in Afghanistan.

Sarah Palin has a delightfully down to earth, "real" quality about her that makes it clear as she pointed out (again, brilliantly) that she's no Washington insider.  Her "Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again" moment was utterly charming (and it provides a stellar example of how female leaders can be tough without coming across as unappealing).

What's become clear is that anyone who has tried to smear her as stupid or ill-equipped owes her a deep and profound apology.  I'd trust her instincts and judgments over Barack's any day (why, by the way, does no one ever point out that when Barack opposed the war as a state senator, he had no access to any of the intelligence possessed by those who actually had responsibility for casting a vote?).

Of course, the MSM may try to argue that "anyone" can study for a debate.  Well, I'd point out that the same goes double for their candidate, Barack Obama, too.  He's a good student and a well-spoken Ivy League professor.  She's a leader.

Well done.

Remember the Racist
Imagine this is a KKK rally and the Obamanation was on the front row. Sorry, it isn't imaginary. Imagine he was there for 20 years listening to his mentor. Sorry, it isn't imaginary. This man is sick and so are his 21st century hitler youth.

Biden on Supreme Court Nominees
Governor Palin won hands down, no question about it.

Yet there was one area that I think she could responded to and hit a grand slam on, namely, when Senator Biden talked about how he changed his mind to support the idea that Supreme Court nominees have to have their ideology examined by the American people.

What do I think her response should have been?

Senator Biden, that is one area that I'm glad to say that I have not changed my mind on. Not only am I not in favor of allowing Congress men and women try to assassinate the characters and attempt to destroy the reputation of decent men and women, nor do I believe that Supreme Court nominees need to pass the Democratic litmus test on abortion, but I favor the appointment of originalist judges, not activist judges who reinterpret the Constitution and attempt to legislate from the bench.

I'm still waiting and hoping to see SOMEONE from the McCain campaign to start making the case that the current liquidity crisis is the result of well-intentioned, but misguided Democratic policies under Presidents Carter and Clinton, that some members of the current Democratic leadership should have their ties with Freddie and Fannie investigated, and that the Republicans were sounding the alarm about these policies years ago. I also wish they'd start making Senator Obama's questionable associations a campaign issue.

Once again, Governor Palin wins hands down. Way to go, Sarah!

GOVERNOR PALIN CHANGED MY VOTE TO MCCAIN
I voted for Obama in the primary, and now I am voting for the only ticket who really understands middle America. Governor Palin convinced me tonight that she knows what it is like to be middle class, and thus, she better understands the impact of the decisions Washington insiders have on middle America. She held her own with a seasoned lawyer and debater, as she demonstrated her knowledge of foreign policy, economics and energy. She has my vote, and I will campaign for her in the coming days along with Senator McCain because I believe they really want to change America.

Shelly
Do you actually think that voting for Hussein will "punish" either Bush or the Republican Party? No, the only ones who will be punished if Hussein wins are the American people, through higher taxes, more government intrusion into our lives, terrorist attacks against us because Hussein is too weak to stand up to them, more debacles like the financial problems we're having now because of the Democrat's refusal to reform Fannie and Freddie, skyrocketing fuel prices because Hussein and the Democrats will block all attempts at our getting truly energy independent, the suppression of political dissent through Hussein's "Truth Squads", as he is now doing in Missouri, and our gun rights being taken away. The thought of a Hussein presidency scares the living daylights out of me. That's why I will vote McCain/Palin.

Governor Sarah Palin was spectacular in debate,
she won hands down,
