Another Obama Surrogate Attacks McCain's Honor
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 1:35 PM
Are we seeing a pattern emerge here?

Just days after a Barack Obama surrogate referred to John McCain -- a war hero -- as a warmonger -- another surrogate is making outrageous attacks against him.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, an Obama surrogate, recently said that as a fighter pilot, McCain,

dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground? He doesn't know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues."
What makes these comments absolutely despicable is that these are similar to forced-admissions McCain made under duress as a P.O.W. in the "Hanoi Hilton."  In both cases, the idea that it is an act of cowardice to be a fighter pilot was advanced.  The only accusation Rockefeller left out was in not calling him a "black criminal" or an "Air Pirate."  But the idea that McCain's service was somehow dishonorable is still the same.

This is the second incident in less than a week where we have seen an Obama surrogate -- not just questioning Sen. McCain's ideas -- but directly attacking his character, integrity, and war experience.  Is this a pattern we should get used to?

The latest attack on McCain is also interesting, in that it echoes a sentiment expressed by Bill Maher -- when he said the 9-11 highjackers were not cowards:

Lobbing cruise missiles from two thousand miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building. Say what you want about it. Not cowardly. You're right."
(Clearly, the fact that McCain was shot down means considerable risk was involved.  It's not as if fighter pilots were not putting thier lives in danger.)

Is there an effort to portray fighter pilots as somehow dishonorable?  This would not be the first time Vietnam Veterans have been criticized and attacked for their service.

These attacks are disgusting and should be considered out-of-bounds in terms of appropriate political rhetoric.

But what makes them truly disturbing is that a pattern is emerging.  If Barack Obama truly wants to be a new "brand" of politician, he should immediately condemn these remarks.

Who knows, maybe Bill Clinton was right when he said that Hillary and McCain could have a respectful debate on the issues ...

Jay Rockfeller
In the 60's, when John McCain was in the Hanoi Hilton, serving his country honorably, Jay Rockfeller was in West Virginia serving Jay Rockfeller. Have you every wondered how a wealthy Rockfeller would or could become a senator that represents West Virginia? Jay Rockfeller, a carpetbagger, came to WVA with a political goal in mind. He came to the outshirts of Charleston, WVA and worked for a governmental poverty program passing out benefits to needy persons. Its hard to believe that he went there due to his compassion for the people. No, I believe his goal was to become a political operative in WVA with a long-term objective of the US senate.

He's a typical democrat, you pass out government benefits and subquentially the recipients credit you with the handout.
How can a carpetbagger like Jay Rockfeller critize a man like John McClain.

Rockefeller where were you when McCain was in combat? Your privileged rich white stinking butt didn't have to worry about the draft, but, I'm sure you really cared about the poor sonofbitch who took your place. Right Rockefeller?

Stupid Kimberly
McCain's attitude towards the Iranian people ["Bomb bomb Iran"] indicates a man who doesn't give much thought to who is targeted - just making a gigantic dent in the land to make a point.

=================================================

Just so you know - the Hanoi Hilton was located in Hanoi. John McCain knows quite a bit about being on the receiving end of a US bombing campaign - only a few dozen Americans still living have that experiance first hand - and one of them sure as Hell aint Jay Rockefeller.

Honorable?

It is not honorable to conspire behind closed doors with Ted Kennedy and La Raza against the American people.

It is not honorable to try to rush an amnesty for foreign nationals illegally in our country AND their employers through Congress without committee hearings shortcutting the normal process.

It is not honorable to have contempt for the will of the people. "I'll build the G-D fence if they want it

Benedict Arnold - John McCain
Benedict Arnold was a Hero at Saratoga.

How did that work out?

If you chose to believe John McCain's account, he was a War Hero 40 years ago.

Can someone tell me one thing that John McCain has done since then, that would justify anyone calling him Honorable, Trustworthy, or Conservative.

A-4 Skyhawk is a fighter bomber
Sorry, Rick but John McCain flew a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk fighter-bomber, which is equipped with bombs. I believe in the mission in which he as shot down, McCain's squadron was tasked with blowing the sh-t out of a powerplant or water plant at the harbor in Hanoi....McCain's "mistake" was going back in for another lower level pass after Hanoi's AAA had homed in on the attack aircraft....someone school me if I didn't get this right...

Retired CPO of the Worlds Finest Navy!

I haven't fought in any wars.

Technically Vietnam wasn't a war either. But those who served, deserve our praise.
(Unless they have become lying treasonous Ba$tards since, like McCain)

I cruised into a few places that I'm not sure I am at liberty to discuss.

I spent many days in "82" doing 5 knot circles in the Gulf of Beirut.

I served aboard a Support Vessel during Desert Shield.

The day Desert Storm started, I was in the Bahamas at Captain Nemo's.

I was sitting at the bar, eating Conch fritters, drinking cold beer and watching the invasion on CNN.

Obama's surrogates
It appears to me that Rockefeller is contradicing himself. He certainly didn't have compassion for one of his fellow Americans suffering, that of John McCain. How can any elected official, put any other country or their citizens above those of us in this country they represent, are beyond reason.

I think John McCain knows privilege, and I also beleive he knows what it is like to "to be hungry", to live in inhuman conditions, to know human indignities, to feel pain that most of us will never know.

To try and tarnish this man in the attempts that Obama and those that support Obama are doing, shows a lack of compassion, a lack of respect to the millions and millions of Americans that fought for this country.

Obama and his supporters more compassionate, I think not.

So if you chose to believe John McCain's account, he was a War Hero 40 years ago.

Although he offers no proof, other than the corroboration from his friends in the Viet-Cong.

Since then he has been a Treasonous, Lying Rat Ba$tard!

He cheated on his wife!

He lied about Romney!

He has lied repeatedly about securing the border.

He has conspired with Kennedy and others to surrender our country to the Illegal aliens.

He conspired with Feingold to take away our First Amendment rights.

His campaign reminds me of John Kerry's…

His performance in congress is so pathetic, he has to run on his military credentials from 40 years ago.

Sorry!, But when I think of John McCain, the word "HERO" just doesn’t come to mind.

Word's that do come to mind when I think of McCain are:

Senile, Angry, Lying, Backstabbing, and Liberal!

always sounded like a smug, despicable human being whenever I have heard him utter a comment.

This doesn't surprise me.

The left is lost and knows no bounds in sinking to the lowest and most deceitful level of discourse.

The debate is over; McCain is going to find it hard to reach "the respectful compromises" he dreams about with people who the right shares not one core value.

Forgive me for butting in,
but does this guy realize that fighter pilots DON'T drop bombs! JM was a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War. His job, since the Vietnamese didn't have bombers, was to knock their fighter aircraft out of-the-sky - not drop bombs on "innocent" civilians.

The LAST thing a fighter pilot wants strapped to his plane's undercarriage is a bomb! They are unwieldy and affect the performance of your plane. With one installed, you are no longer flying on a razor's edge; you're flying on the edge of a roll of playdough.

A few questions
Jay Rockefeller and Jane Fonda related ? HMMMM !!! I wonder. Should we call him Jane Rockefeller.

To those of you who are so concerned about bombing women and children, what are your thoughts on terrorists using women and children to transport weapons and bomb making material? What are your thoughts when terrorists use or dupe women and children into becoming a walking human bomb.

The "children" that are in Israeli jails are in their twenties. But it sounds so horrible when we use the term "women and children".

What are your thoughts when these human bombs attack such military targets such as busses loaded with commuters, shopping malls and open air markets? What are your thoughts when these "brave" men of courage hijack civilian airliners and fly them into buildings. Would you feel differently about their bravery if you were one of those passengers ?

What are your thoughts about women in the military ? Do you think it is wrong to shoot their women but not our women, or is it that you think you're only in the military when you dress like everyone else ?

I have a simple rule. If you don't want to become a nuclear target, don't develop nuclear weapons. Has anyone ever tried to negotiate with a robber, a rapist, a car thief or a thug who runs with a gang.

Do you really think you can negotiate with someone who believes they are doing "God's" work, some call "him" Allah ?

Democrat Politics
The mission of the Democrats and the MSM is villify Senator Clinton and praise Senator Obama. Praise will not be enough to place this shallow man in the White House.

He does not pack the gear to be a U.S. Senator. His rapid rise in politics from a community organizer in Chicago, Illinois to becoming a candidate for president is because of the "Daley Political Machine".

Senator Obama, as a youth, was mentored by a member of the Communist Party, USA. Obama was tutored by socialists in college. Obama has been ministered to by Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., Pastor of TUCC, for twenty years. His wife and children were in the pew with him absorbing the preacher's hatred of America and white Americans. His "change" will be failure for our Republic.

The So-Called First Surrogate
The so-called first surrogate you are referring to is Ed Schultz, who is clearly NOT an Obama surrogate. I listen to his radio show every day and not once have I heard that he has fully committed to a candidate.

As for him calling Sen. McCain a war-mongerer, it should be fairly telling that this kind of bashing on the military is not centrally on the left side. Michael Medved has repeatedly referred to General Wesley Clarke as "Weasle-y Clarke" during and after his own presidential campaign on the Democratic ticket because Medved thought Gen. Clarke weasled out of certain questions about military policy. I don't see any difference between that incident or this one.

And FYI, Sen. Rockafeller should have been condemmned by everyone in America even before he made those comments about Sen. McCain because Rockafeller is trying to censor television. He's trying to get rid of all the violence, sex, and profanity, and that is anti-American. We want more violence, sex and profanity on TV. Well, at least I want more violence, sex and profanity on TV.

Respect
Most of us haven't an inkling of how tough it is to become a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy. Here John McCain becomes a fighter pilot, serves in Vietnam, is was shot down and tortured in the "Hanoi Hilton". He survives this torture for five years, then comes home and eventually becomes a Senator. Like him or not, the honorable among us (be it Republicans, independents, Denmocrats) all have respect for McCain.

Here we have a SENATOR, Rockefeller, smearing Mr. McCain's honor. Senator Rockefeller needs:

1) he needs a good encyclopedia to grasp the fact laser-guided missiles weren't used in Vietnam.

2) he needs a copy of the book "How to Make Friends and Influence People. Smearing McCain for being a fighter pilot isn't going to win friends or influence people, at least not in the right way.

Johnny writes: Tuesday, April, 08, 2008 7:03 PM
Hero or warmonger? Why not both?
Why is it that a war hero can't be a war monger?
People are not one-dimensional. The same man can one day step into the line of fire to cover his squad, or jump on a grenade to save a CO - and on another day kill civilians, or torture POWs. A man can be praised for heroic actions and bravery and at the same time condemned for poor policy, for civilian casualties, for overeagerness to go to war.

To evaluate a person entirely we must consider that they have done both good and bad, and neither let good acts give a man carte blanche to commit atrocity, nor let bad acts eclipse a generally positive and helping life. Attempts to use one-dimensional labels, as if views must always be diametrically opposed - either "war hero" or "war monger", either "brave" or "coward", and nothing in between - these things are nothing but an obstruction to a clear and objective evaluation of people in general and candidates in particular.

Conservative?
Do John McCain or conservative republicans respect the moral foundation of this country? The U.S. Constitution was actually designed, among other things, to protect the people of America from misguided government.

U.S. Constitution: Amendment I - Freedom of Religion
Right now, for the first time ever, your tax dollars are funding religious groups you may not agree with. To add insult to injury, conservative judges have ruled that taxpayers do not have a right to challenge this expenditure.

Amendment IV - Search and seizure
Under the guise of court action against abortion, Conservative republicans had John Ashcroft subpoena all the medical records of literally thousands of women just like you and members of your family. Conservative republicans are invading your privacy every day. Unfortunately for all of us, they don't appear to care about our U.S. constitution, or by extension, the people of our great country.

Amendment X - Powers of the States and People
John McCain and conservative republicans have tried consistently to overturn States Laws. They used your tax dollars to destroy the will of the people of Oregon, and the famous "Death with Dignity" law; they lost, but undoubtedly will try again. Conservative republicans and John McCain do not respect States Rights.

Amendment VIII - Cruel and Unusual punishment
Would you rather die, or support a government which supported and sanctioned torture? The founding fathers would rather have died, and in fact they were proud to fight and die for our government: A government which specifically outlaws cruel and unusual punishment for very important reasons.

I am one of millions of people that view this straying from our moral foundations as very bad news for our country. I urge you to keep this in mind in the coming election.

God knows I have no love for McCain but I really have nothing for disdain for Rockefellers, especially those who make stupid statements such a s that one. I expect warriors to be killing machines. It is suicidal to send troops with tortured minds into battle. You don't take pity on those you are at war with and who are dedicated to killing you. We know what the North Koreans did to McCain and his buddies when they captured them.

I've never seen so much bi-partisan stupidity in my life. Can we dump ALL of these guys? One side is as bad as the other.

A problem or two with Senator Rockefeller's statement. First, when Mccain was bombing Vietnam, the US was not using Smart Bombs. Second, later in the war when the US starting using Smart Bombs, you could not aim them from 35,000 feet, either.

Matt,

if you do not yet know who Obama is and what he represents you should not call yourself and analyst or a pundit.

He is what he is. He is a far-left demagogue with very little substance. Does that help?

He (like most politicians) will do or say anything to get elected.

The Obamaramamamas are of two types. There are those who are as far left as Obama and there are the more pragmatic who believe he can win in November. His character, his beliefs, his rhetoric and his policies are either the same as the Obamaramamamas or they cynically do not care what his character, beliefs, rhetoric and policies are because he can win. Take your pick, but stop appearing to be bemused by his campaign.
