Several months, maybe a year ago, Mr. Obama removed the American flag from his lapel. When asked why, he replied (paraphrasing) "I don't need an American Flag pin on my lapel to prove I'm a patriot." the reverend Wright was not in the picture at the time.
I accepted that answer then, although I thought it rather petty but, predictably, liberal.
Now, I wish someone would ask him a question like, "If reverend Wright was your friend, your mentor and has been anti-American for years, did he influence you in some way to remove your lapel pin?"
What would you say if you were he?

As someone who is also a community builder I have been in more churches than a lot of people and I can honestly tell you that somewhere in a place of prominence is the American Flag. It is typically next to the Flag of Faith. Sometimes in the sanctuary sometimes in the vestiuble but it's always there.

Actually this jibs with something I've been saying for a while. It would not suprise me at all if it turned out Obama's camp was the one that got the tapes out. Think about it for a second. I was always rather puzzled by the timing of the tapes release. It just seemed to me that if it was coming from Clinton or McCain they wouldn't have leaked it until shortly before a major primary, forcing him off message with no time to recover. Rather, the tapes came out at the beginning of the longest break in the primary season, leaving him time to frame the debate. Just a thought. |
