New Media Mania! McCain Meets Up With MySpace and MTV
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 4:30 PM
I'm in New Hampshire to cover John McCain's Presidential Dialogue, hosted by MySpace and MTV. (Full disclosure: MySpace foot the bill for myself and a couple other conservative and liberal bloggers to come up here for the event.)

Here's the basic explanation of this venture:

Each an hour in length and held on college campuses nationwide, the Presidential Dialogue series provides a national audience with the opportunity to engage with frontrunner presidential candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties by posing questions online, in real-time, via MySpaceIM, ChooseOrLose.com or LaVibra.com. A number of questions submitted online are then asked of the participating candidate throughout the duration of the event.
Pretty experimental, pretty new-fangled, but I like that kind of thing. I'm not a fan of MTV's past forays into the political process, including the "Vote or Die" bit and the fraudulent reports of a military draft to motivate for young voters. We'll see if this project is any better. I'll be back with more in a bit.

Once Bitten-Twice Shy
MK-Apparently McCain has developed short term memory loss from the last YOUTUBE debate on the Corrupt News Network. Does he expect something different from another liberally biased network posing as a thoughtful and reasoned news network??

McCain is far less adroit than Romney or Huckabee and will definitely walk into any "bear" trap set for him by MTV and myspace.

When will Republicans ever learn that MSM outlets will shape any debate or republican appearance such that we will be defined by racisim, homophobia and hatred.

I certainly hope McCain is on his game and can overcome the already unlevel playing field he will have from the begining at MTV but in the end, regardless of his success, this event will be spun to make another republican candidate look like a racist who hates illegal immagrants and wants to deny children heath care.

Don't Forget The Flektor Polling Widget
Mary Katherine - we didn't get the chance to meet at BlogWorldExpo, but that shindig you're at it also powered by the Flektor Polling Widget.

That's what allows people to register their like/dislike of McCain's responses in real time. And this time, it's simulcast at MTV and MySpace.

Go to http://myspace.com/election2008 for the simulcast.

McCain is the first Republican, so it's important there be a good turnout. And if anyone writes about it, let me know at the http://flektor-blog.com (they're a client, and this is shameless PR pandering).

But the videos and polls you can create are cool. Really.
