Tuesday Looks Like A Good Day to Find A Good Book
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 6:20 PM
Because if you turn on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOXFox News, CNN, MSNBC, E!, BET....you'll get the Michael Jackson memorial Tuesday.

Townhall will not be live from the Jackson memorial.   But we'll certainly be watching the networks for their expected over-coverage.

A Really Nice BIG Plus For Baseball
season nuts like me and Missus Neo is that we've not seen one minute of nighttime Freaky Boy coverage. Wouldn't even be more than peripherally aware of Mr.Bizzarro's death 24/7 kulture koverage...VERY COOL place for us old farts to be. Happy trails, Mikey. Now, for the ESPN Sunday Night Game of the Week with our Rays and the Texas Rangers from Arlington.

Thank God for the Conservative sport of Big League Ball.

An Opportunity
Tuesday will be an opportunity for the alphabet soup networks to pretend they are journalists. It also will be an opportunity to avoid having to do any real reporting. Of course, they haven't done any real reporting in years. And they think we haven't noticed.

Why do we need the E Channel
When we've got Fox News Network. Fox is nothing more than Hollywood entertainment so now Bill O'Reilly can stop comparing its 'fair and balanced" coverage against the same crap seen on MSNBC and CNN.

Pilgrims regress.
Returning from Church today, I saw a large Filipino family walking up the neighborhood street that leads to the Jackson Family home.

Since the death of Michael Jackson, there have been the satellite media trucks and the trudge of fans up that street in North Los Angeles.

One thinks, that the need to express empathy for an early death would be tempered by restraint from parents that march with their kids to lay flowers in front of a closed gate. Restraint from involving their children in a moment that cannot be separated from the individual and his personal life.

Child abuse, child lust is a crime that rivals homicide. It destroys. How is it that anyone can balance the probability of Mr. Jackson's conduct from the odd chance that he wasn't as he was?

And yet, they walk on a Sunday morning, up the street with their children as if reason surrenders to a cadence and a beat that strobes past the acts that are the man.

Wall to wall coverage? Just the outcome of the many bad choices made.

State Funeral
It's almost like a state funeral. Did Reagan's funeral get this much coverage? (As if I didn't already know?)

"It's almost like a state funeral. Did Reagan's funeral get this much coverage?"

Actually, you've been lucky. From what we can tell, there's been MORE coverage in Europe than in the US. You have to switch to CNN to get away from all Michael Jackson, all the time.

To All
Can it be that liberals and conservatives finally agree on something? I knew we were in trouble the day I sat down to watch ABC Evening News and Charles Gibbs announced "Tonight we will be devoting most of our coverage to the death of Michael Jackson". Hello? Teheran was still on fire, the health care debate was raging, and we're getting thirty minutes on Michael Jackson? Then I turned to townhall, where somebody was suggesting they put Michael Jackson's face on the twenty-dollar bill "because nobody is really interested in dead presidents". Right, Tuesday will not be a good day for television, unless of course Mark Sanford reveals an airport tryst with Larry Craig and Sarah Palin gets a lover in Argentina. Meanwhile my husband has retreated to Wimbledon and I am getting a lot of sewing done.

Reminds me of...
.. the Obama inauguration and a majority of his speeches, which were covered on almost every single cable channel imaginable. I was flipping through channels trying to find something that WASN'T Obama. I think even Lifetime was covering his speech. It was ridiculous. The price we are paying for making our politicians celebrities is our freedom and prosperity.

God, yes. That should be obvious to all. The Inauguration of the President of the United States is totally unworthy of American television coverage. What's the matter, did you miss Dancing With the Stars?

To put this in terms you may understand, we voted McCain and Palin off the island, and what you saw on TV was the result.

With you on this one
Haven't been this disgusted with the main-stream media since the OJ Simpson trial (although to be fair, that was way worse than this).
