Buyers' Remorse At The DNC

Hillary gave a great speech which had the effect of diminishing the actual nominee. Many have commented that Michelle Obama did not seem particularly cheery throughout, and why would she be? Earlier in the day Bill Clinton had all but predicted her husband's defeat (the "can't deliver" language), and now Hillary was looking great and communicating one message: But for our crazy rules, I'd be the nominee and we'd be 15 point ahead.
Poor Mark Warner --the keynote that wasn't. It was Hillary's night, and despite the assured nomination of Obama, it is looking like Hillary's week. Four years go by in a blink, and if Obama loses,Hillary will surely be the nominee in 2012. And there's no way Obama will have been vetted for her short list.
UPDATE: The WaPo reports that many Hillary delegates remain uncommitted to Obama. Of course that's the result. They have begun to work on 2o12.
UPDATE 2: A fine bit of e-mail analysis of the Hillary speech:
based on 3 decades of Clinton observation, if i were Hillary's Brain (shudder!), here are the goals i would have set for my speech tonight.
1. Make Them Sorry They Didn't Nominate Me.
2. Throw The Kid the Di Minimus Support That I Can Get Away With, Without Being Called A "Traitor" And Tossed Out of the Party
3. Make Them Sorry They Didn't Nominate Me.
4. Remind Them of All My 2008 Campaign Themes, Getting Them Ready For My 2012 Campaign
5. Make Them Sorry They Didn't Nominate Me
6. Show Them That I Have A Much More Polished and Professional Political Demeanor Than The Kid
7. Make Them Sorry That They Didn't Nominate Me
8. Warm Them Up For Bill Tomorrow, Who Will, probably, "BRING THE HOUSE DOWN", as ONLY Bill Clinton Can do
9. Do Nothing Substantive to Stauch the Anger of My Feminist, Middle Age Base at Barrack Obama
10 Lay the Groundwork for the Largest "I Told You So!" in Democratic Party History
i'd say that she OVERPERFORMED ON ALL THOSE GOALS,
when the Useful Idiots in the "Corporate Media" have had a few days to digest and analyze Hillary's speech, the MSM will get around to realizing just how LITTLE she really did for Obama...YES her support for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY was high, wide and handsome..but Barry got just little enough to say "she did what she had to do"
THE REAL STORY IS THAT THIS IS THE FIRST SPEECH THAT REALLY LOOKED LIKE A DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION...the first day and a half (sans Teddy The Pretender) was even DULLER than a Republican Convention (the sine qua non by which all other political dullness MUST NEEDS be judged)....
IF (and it's a LARGE "IF") Bill behaves himself tomorrow, and doesn't jump off the verbal and rhetorical cliff, and rises to one of his Best Performances, it will echo most of HRC did her tonight, present Herself (and by implication, Himself) as The Indispensible Man for 2012...

Waitin' for you to pass by..'course, you did. Amazes me, you part of this blog: you ain't Christian Evange by a mile; not Catholic, rising up in mighty defense of Doctrine; not redneck fo' sho', fo'ty fo'; not Marystella (I give ya credit for protecting her from the wolf at the door; shows ya chivalrous side); not an angry young reprobate like Charity; not a closet racist; not a fanatic military (no service, if I'm correct); etc. I could go on.
All I can conclude is, your Mom got angry and threw a toaster at you when you was little; it came back to haunt ya in later life.
But it don't matter anyway.. |
Thanks for the concern. I was an English major, actually, but I always take into account the intelligence of the person I am addressing...
Maybe that's why you guys love Obama so much. He says, "uh,uh,uh..." just like you....! Cool!
BTW, MLK loved Charlton Heston....! |

Toast, Toast, Toaaaassstttt...Bammy be Toast..! |

Not only is your understanding of syntax faulty, so is your understanding of symbolism. King's dream was about living the American dream, that we are created equal.
Sorry, you need to do better. You need more than the fantasy of cold beer and guns, lawnchair potato. |
I don't know if anybody ever told you, but when you start a sentence with, "more accurately," you are then expected to make a point that is, indeed, more accurate. King's dream was that men be judged by the content of their character. Since Obama has no character, how is this possible.....? |
Odysseus. The journey home, at last.
Insult to MLK, K.G.? What a lack of insight you have..More like a Dream. |
Hubris, I believe they call it.
Well, they need to puff up this empty suit with a lot of hot air.
What an insult to MLK. |
Tonight begins a tragedy in epic form. The conquering hero brought down by a character flaw... |
A rhetorical question: who is toast WITH a clue?
Enjoyed Marystella's poem, with its gothic cast, but better watch out. The Greeks invented democracy, and the stage, and they never misunderstood the theater of either. |
to see your poetic devastations posted next to Mr.Doodles' Seperate Comfy Universe.
Nice what'cha'call contrast.
Doodle-Bug...I luv Mitt's response to the 'How many houses' query from an MSM-Lapdawg: "One less than John Kerry!"
Toast. Bammy is Clueless TOAST. Bu-Bye, Bammy. Empty suit. Empty resume. Empty...Thong. |
Think about McCain. Doesn't even know how many houses he's living in. But there's one house he won't have to worry about living in.. |
under the silvery moon, knotted with anxiety, Dems., their vision of greatness, under the tall shadows of the Greek Temple, Barak O'polis Temple of Doom, Phosphorescent Temple, gently cracking, every so quietly, in bewilderment, in dismay, that wonderous Sanctuary, Collasping,..alas,.. and so was buried in that great Temple of Doom, another Hope of winning of the Presidency! ... Again? Alas! |
D I S I N G E N U O U S N E S S ...
Everyone knows that Obama disrespected Bill Clinton ... playing the race card on him, and trying to tarnish his record during the primaries ... but, because of the disingenuous DNC, and Obama, and their putting party above country, and blackmailing the Clintons into supporting Obama ... using their debt and Hillary's future in politics as their leverage, the Clintons have been strong armed into supporting Obama. Why should a successful and respected two term President like Bill Clinton have to stoop to the ambitions of the far left DNC, and their upstart, empty suit candidate ... while Obama and the DNC disingenuously pretend that everybody has kissed and made up??? Also, the PUMAS and other Hillary supporters have had to endure the same condescending disrespect from them as well. I say the DNC and Obama made their bed, so let them lie in it ... they deserve nothing more. |
Do you think the American people are going to elect Don Cornelius president....?
You are sadly mistaken, my friend. To you it's a celebration, but to middle America, it's a freak show..... All they need is some cotton candy. |
onvention looks more like a soul train, everybody gettin' on board! Plus despite all your months of "smelling tear gas..in Denver" the Denver streets are pretty quiet, you know, democracy-wise. You couldn't ahve been more wrong, and you couldn't be more wrong. |

You must be watching 1968 re-runs. The 2008 Dem C |

...the less there is to see. He is an empty-suited hand puppet. The real question: Who would be the hand inside the puppet?
Becky: You may get a bunch of empty-headed peeps in CA to vote Obama, whose electoral votes will go to BO anyway. But Heartland Joe-Six-Pack Lunch-Pail Dem can sniff out an effete, phony, girly-man pawn a mile away.
Real men will vote for the real man. And real women will too.
PS: I don't consider Gore or BClinton real men. Freaks all. |
....the better they like McCain....! |
I know about the Electoral College, thank you. However, the state by state polls are not done as frequently as the national polls, so the map at RCP is not current. If you've been watching, you'll know that your boy wonder has been sliding on the electoral map as well.
My point is, I don't think it's ever happened that one candidate overtakes his opponent during the week of the opponent's party's convention.
The Democratic train wreck is starting to look more and more like a plane crash. |
For the GOP convention, I would like to see the following (and would not be surprised to see them) as additional keynote speakers: McCain’s vice president (for obvious reasons), Pres. George W. Bush, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, Colin Powell, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rudy Giulianim, and other former Rep. presidential contenders including Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and/or Fred Thompson. Some other individuals to consider as speakers or participants: Cindy McCain and their children; McCain’s sons who are currently serving in the military; Sen. Joe Lieberman; Dr. James and/or Shirley Dobson or another high profile Evangelical leader; and, a Vietnam war veteran, preferably one who served alongside McCain. I would also like to see a biography similar to the one featured about Obama, though it would have more substance since McCain has had more life experience and a more compelling life story! The message should focus on McCain’s long history of public service and experience, his conservative Republican or traditional American values while remaining a “maverick,” his qualifications to be commander-in-chief and his ability to get things done while working with both sides of the political aisle. When Pres. Bush or former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani get on stage, I hope they emphasizes the fact that this nation has remained safe from another major terrorist attack since 9/11 (esp. with anniversary coming up) - and that McCain is the best candidate to pass on that monumental task of protecting this country. |
The Dems are giving fuel and fodder by the minute. |
...didn't get the memo: The "Kennedys passed the baton" to Barack--leapfrogging over the Clintons.
Hill supporters need to know who they're mad at.
As a Republican, I say: Thank you, Uncle Teddy. You are my senator too. |
Wasn't she good. And Obama yet to come! This could be the best Dem Convention ever. Makes ya want to go out and vote now. But no, first let us savor the Republican Convention (it may be like watching abad coat of paint dry). |
Watching Dems.' face on the convention floor, while her highness Hillary was speaking, Priceless! Her speech, for the people on the floor, and the women who adore Clintons, was the greatest and quite moving. You could tell, from the awe in their face, wondering regretfully, why she is not our nominee? Honestly, She surely is a better candidate than Obama, and as a Republican, I am delighted she is not on the ticket! Democrats for some reason are very confused, and that is good for now! Biden, seals Obama's loss. |
People are wanting McCain to campaign a little more aggressively, but why should he? He's safe on the Carpathia watching the Titanic go down.... All he needs to do is stick an oar in the water every now and then to remind people he's still there. The bemused look on his face lately says it all.... The show they're putting on in the streets of Denver is the perfect reminder to America of the kind of freaks and miscreants that gravitate to the Democrat Party, and this election will be remembered as one of the great train wrecks for a long, long time..... I absolutely can't wait to read the screechy posts from the lefties in November....! |
since 1980.
I wonder how many delegates saw that blinking yellow light behind her on the stage flashing "LAMONT WARNING!!!" |
I'm not a big believer in polls, but over at RCP, it not only looks like there is no bounce, but McCain has actually overtaken Obama in the two polls taken since the weekend.
Bubba is going to fire the other Clinton torpedo, and the SS Obama will go down quickly. |

Giselle/Kimberly, saw that link in a different post. It's all good.
As for the hurricane, Obama better hope it doesn't interfere with the GOP convention. If it does, Obama, as usual, will get off-message, and try to make an issue of Bush/McCain and Katrina. The message would resonate with dems, who will love it, but the undecided independents out there will shake their head, and say "yeah yeah we get it, but why vote for Obama? change? hope? where's the beef?"
The conventions don't mean squat, they are just free advertising.
The real action is the debates. The debates is where people will learn the most, and decide.

Remember the inevitable Romney!
Everything that happens is perfect for the golden Romney!
Blah, blah, blah. |
of Emotional Need, Gloria, gives me the willies! One of the really nice pluses for having moved to Central Florida is NO Gloria!! 30+ years of having to listen & see that cow was more than enough.
Another nice thing here...I don't have to look at all the nearby booths in a cafe--particularly, behind me--before saying(OUT LOUD!!)something nice about President Bush. Imagine. |
That's actually so breathtakingly stupid that I hardly know where to begin. Suffice it to say it's not that either of those two were that great. It's that the rest of the field looked more like the Saturday night crowd at the Mos Eisley Cantina than serious candidates for POTUS. And yes, Joe Biden, this includes you.
By the way, and this is primarily for the Southern Californians, I heard last night that our favorite slick butch lawyeress* Gloria Allred is, not only a delegate, not only a Hillary delegate, but a PUMA for Hillary. One loud, obnoxious, media-attention-whore woman lawyer supporting another loud, obnoxious, media-attention-whore woman lawyer. Perfect. It doesn't get any better than that.
*I was a kid at the time, but I remember the media furor thirty-some years ago when John Schmitz called her that. I think it's unfortunate he was forced to apologize. It's not much of an exaggeration even now, and back then, it was the exact truth. |

come in under the treeline. Because under her/his former Monikers, he/she's been...welll....barred.
Is that a tear I'm feeling? Naw...just a speck of dust. |

It is hysterical they do not have confidence to keep using the same name when they get crushed! And liberals wonder why we call the cowards! |

Ego on the hoof authored the 1st 2-giveaway sentences at 9:40 here...Bu-Byeeeeeeeeee. |

How about we NOT feed the "new" kosroid serial poster today, Guys. She, like Billy-Bubba, has a bottomless appetite for Righty attention. Let's starve the wench.
**MIRACLE GROW** Alert..! |

Thanks to Salvatore for coming up with that. It is very good. Do you think Team Hillary thought of it too? |
I know you liberals enjoying lying to promote your Socialist agenda - but you are fooling nobody! On Wall Street we can sniff out bulls--t better than anyone! That last response and all your posts in the last little while just prove you switched your name since you could not handle all the abuse you have been taking here!
Giselle is Kimberly - she just changed her name on these blogs! |
It is only going to get better tonight when Bubba gets on stage and talks about himself for an hour! It is amazing to hear the differences between Romney and HRC. Romney is out talking about the differences between McCain and Obama and doing everything he can to help get McCain elected. While the Clintons are doing everything they possibly can to make sure Obama loses. |
It's the lunatic rambling from the left like her that is energizing the republican base.
"Obama's tremendous success?"
"Democratic party is united?"
Very entertaining. Keep it coming.
Democrats better pray to the 'God of Liberalism' that a hurricane hits the GOP convention. Oh wait, democrats pray? Never mind.

With all my glee this a.m. on the continuing sabotage of Good Ship O'Bammy by the Chief Narcissist & His Queen, I'd overlooked the very Human(and, in this case, deserving)'Get Even' reaction in 4-years IF Hillary is the candidate. Or, BEFORE, is more likely..So that Queenie does NOT get the Nom in '12. There's not just going to be zillions of angry Black Folks...There's legions of the 'yootful voters who'll be horrified. Ohhhhh, this is gettin' better by the hour.
ONLY the Demowits could pull off their own Titanic II so flawlessly. Too much FUN. |
...as evidenced by this four-legged gazell, er, "Giselle": "...and of course, after Bush's stolen vote in 2004." (Another shining example of the Left disconnected from reality) |
What this is - the Clintons doing everything they possibly can to make sure Obama is not elected President so Hillary can run again in 2012. I think the Clintons fail to realize that they will be blamed if Obama loses. The African-American Obama supporters who stood by Clinton when he was impeached should be livid! |
would have two--COUNT'UM, 2!!--successive nights at the convention, the writin' was on d'wall.
NOW, Malignant Narcissist Billy-Bub, we learn, ain't gonna attend The Messiah's Big Night tomorrow, where the waters recede. Which will, in deliberate turn, put more spotlights on Bubba and whut'dis'mean?! Ba-Da-Bing..Billy's Mission Is Accomplished.
A Shipwreck, Train Wreck and SABOTAGE of Golden Boy ALL in front of millions. Could a pschopath like Billy be happier? I think not.
Toast. Clueless TOAST. |
Tonight will be even more interesting.
Bill is so unpredictable, he'll have a few jaw droppers for us.
It ain't over until the orange lady sings...
Hugh,
Good points.
Here is an article from the Wall Street Journal that uses history to explain why Joe Lieberman would be a terrible pick for McCain and the Republican party.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121979692393374851.html?mod =opinion_main_commentaries
This clarifies, better than any other argument I have seen, why McCain better pick Romney or someone very similar.
(I wish I could send in a hundred bucks to keep the Democratic convention running right up to election day. What a fiasco.)

Hugh, Hillary eclipsed Kid Hope big time - wait until tonight.
The trainwreck in Denver is slow, loud and sad.
