NYT Continues Anti-McCain Coverage

This NYT piece from this morning's paper, leads with Obama hitting McCain for "losing his bearings." This is an apparent attempt by the Obama campaign to use code language in order to play the "age card" against McCain.
What is noticeably absent from the print newspaper edition, however, is the response from McCain Aide Mark Salter.
It is a common courtesy for newspapers to include such a response before printing the accusation.
The fact that Salter's response did not make it in this morning's newspaper is interesting, inasmuch as the response went out at 6:16 PM last night (Marc Ambinder posted it immediately).
In fairness, the NYT's "The Cuacus" blog did include Salter's response this morning -- but they also included an Obama follow-up response to Salter's follow-up response (apparently, Obama always gets the last word at the NYT).
This, of course, is just the most recent example of the less-than-stellar journalistic standards currently being practiced at the nation's "paper of record."
Following are a couple of other examples I spotted:
... Check out this gossip-columnist effort from Elizabeth Bumiller. She seems to be incapable of writing anything that deals with policy or real issues.
... And this article on the FEC is another aggredious exampel of media bias. They don’t note Obama’s role in holding up FEC nominees from Senate consideration.
The NY Times is starting to look dangerously like an arm of the DNC…

He keeps providing the Times with such great fodder -- Hagee, Goodyear . . . bet it makes you fear what's next, eh? |

For once I agree with the NYT.
McCain is a Liberal Senile Geriatric.
Bob Barr...Bob Barr...Bob Barr... |

Obama was elected to the US Senate 4 years ago. He is the Chairman of the European Affairs subcommittee - overseaing NATO, Middle East, etc.
His Foreign travel includes Africa (Chad, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia), Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Russia, Ukraine, etc.
QUESTION: How many times has Obama been to Iraq to visit our troops?
ONCE: 1/8/06
The guy wants to be President. Complains every campaign about this terrible war - yet doesn't have time or interest to SEEING what is actually happening, talking to the troops or Generals???
When will this get media attention?

The mainstream media will be working overtime to introduce their former "Maverick" to the politics of personal destruction. Say what you like, but John McCain is the Republican nominee for president and unless you relish an Obama or Clinton II administration, our choice is to support him or stay home.
Now that Barack Obama is almost certain to be the Dem nominee, the media will now go into full damage mode. Damage to John McCain that is. The challenge to all who either read, post to, or host personal blogs, will be to be on the MSM like .... well what ever cliche meets your mood.
It is about time that the MSM got "swiftboated." |

Pobre John McCain, el amigo de la National Council of La Raza. But for the rest of us, our children, the future of the nation they will inherit (maybe), you don't have squat for us.

And FOX isn't and arm of the republican party? hey Pot meet Kettle! |

First, I realize that this is a blog, but, Mr. Lewis, what is an "aggredious exampel"? Did you intend "egregious example" and simply commit what William Safire recently describes as a "thinko"? By the way, for all McCain defenders and other intelligent people, I urge you to read Safire's "On Language" column for 4 May 2008:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/04/magazine/04wwln-safire-t. html?scp=3&sq=Safire+language&st=nyt
It provides you with the definitive response to those who insist on characterizing mere misspeaking as stupidity.
Second, The New York Times piece reports that Obama said, “And so for him to toss out comments like that I think is an example of him losing his bearings as he pursues this nomination.”
In that sentence, the "of" is a preposition, which requires a noun or noun equivalent to act as its object. Here, the object is NOT "him"; it is "losing," which in this sentnece is a gerund--sometimes known as a verbal noun.
At any rate, the pronoun that Obama SHOULD HAVE USED was "his" rather than "him." His error was what is called a "fused participle."
So, Kimberly, looking at Obama's remark THAT way, Obama is, in fact, WRONG. Maybe it was a thinko. |

Virginia Patriot and the New York Times all on the same page now.
And VP--the NYT endorsed McCain, accused him falsely of adultry, then went with Obama. |

They're S-T-A-R-T-I-N-G ?
Matthew, they've BEEN an arm of the DNC for a long time.

Who knew that the NYT would dump all over their former favorite Pubbie the moment he became the standard-bearer?
(Your winnings, sir.)
Thank you. Roll them over into the Colts winning the next Championship Game That Shall Not Be Named. |

Hillary over Obama was the NYT's choice, seems like long ago. Even longer ago was McCain's bragging years ago that he didn't vote for Bush in 2000. I wouldn't assume he didn't vote for Bush, but he wanted to get in good with some Hollywood types. That's also no doubt part of NYT's anti-McCain conspiracy. Just one thing: isn't claiming he voted Gore positive press? |

They wanted him to be the nominee as much as Joe did. Joe have you read John Hawkins column yet? Get a clue. |
