The problems with Judge Sotomayor's nomination are manifold, but one of the fundamental issues is the hypocrisy of the Administration who has nominated her.
Notwithstanding the fact that Judge Sotomayor's nomination has not been public long enough for anyone to truly know if she is "qualified" for this position, it is clear that she was picked, most likely, for a purely political purpose.
I do not doubt the possiblility that Judge Sotomayor is a competent judge; however, she was nominated because she is an ethnic female. This is political posturing at is finest--not what I would expect from the administration of "change".
All Americans should desire one common quality in their elected and appointed officials--excellence. When we are blinded by racial and political matters, the country turns onto a path of implosion.
I will support the confirmation of Judge Sotomayor if it can be proven that she is the best judge and will uphold the Constitution of the United States without "feeling" or "empathy". |

If Soto was a trial judge, she would appropriately be the subject of a motion to recuse in any case involving a white and/ or Hispanic party or lawyers because of her racist remarks and membership in the very problematic La Raza(n.b.read the whole speech!).No lawyer(of any ethnicity!!) worth ten cents could fail to examine her expressed bias on the record and in open court.If she failed to recuse herself,that is remove,herself any decision she made would be subject to appellate review for perceived racial bias.At a minimum, a judicial disabilities and even a bar investigation would be initiated. Based on experience,I would predict a reprimand at a minimum and not rule out suspension from certain cases.In my state,we currently labor with an intemperate judge whose out-of -courtroom remarks about the accused has led to his removal from criminal cases. I'm not sure if there is a "recusal" motion for the Supreme Court,but is this the best Obama and liberals can do--shove this flawed nominee down the country's throat and insinuate the opposition to racism is racism is racism.....Confirm her at the Court's peril. |

Argentina is as different from Peru or Puerto Rico as England is from Scotland or Ireland. Hispanic is a myth created to wedge English speaking European Americans away from Spanish speaking European Americans. Example: 80% of Argentines are German, Italian, or Spanish, nearly 100% speak Spanish, 90% of the population are Caucasians. The same is true for Uruguay and Brazil except Brazil speaks Portuguese. Most of Central America and Mexico have large populations of European Caucasians and equally large populations of native Indians and Africans. The phrase "people of color" is designed to be used as a "victim" label to identify people the Progressives want to exploit. All people have color of some sort but the title sticks to those looking for an excuse to be viewed as some one's victim. It is all about wedges and trying to convince people Caucasians will be a minority some time in the next 50 years or less. Not so, race is not dependent on Language or culture and neither is success. |
