I heard today on Hugh's radio show that he questioned Obama friendship to Bill Ayers.
It looks like he does not understand basic human nature. There was times back in my old country, under soviet occupation, when I not only offer my friendship but kiss the hand of the people who blow up the Kremlin with the politburo in it.

If you were in law school, then you should know that the law takes into account mititgating circumstances. Getting hooked on pain killers following back surgery is something that mitigates Cindy's addiction to some degree.

So - it's not okay that Cindy is the higher wage earner in their household? She still runs her family business (actually McCain's adopted son from his first marriage does), so you are implying that she should not use that money to take care of her family? McCain has also written a couple of books that sold pretty darn well too.
McCain's grandfather died two days after returning from WWII, so McCain would not have benefited from that. Also, his father would have been an O-3 - O-5 when McCain was growing up. No one would have known that he would be a 4-star. agian, hardly elitist. You obviously know nothing about the military culture or you would know that leaders cannot ride on a relative's coattails.You succeed or fail on your own merits. Period.
Finally, claiming that his father and grandfather had anything to do with him getting into Annapolis displays astounding ignorance as to what it takes to get into and stay in a military academy. There is no legacy system like in the Ivy Leagues. Also, where you graduate in the class has absolutely nothing to do with how good a leader you are. Many of our best combat leaders graduated low in their class and were troublemakers who were always testing the rules. |

He served through 3 wars (4 if you want to count the Cold War). He also "lost" a plane once while serving overseas. Mechanical failure and he had to bail out. His plane hit a house and the scumbags in the country in question prosecuted him for murder as a result. There is no man I have more respect for on the planet. Totally self made and dedicated his life to serving the country.

Rich certainly does not disqualify or John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, Mitt Romney, Joe Biden, John McCain, Chris Dodd would all have been disqualified from running.
McCain is running for president, not keeping track of his and his wives houses. They probabaly have a financial advisor or team handling these investments. The Republicans and most Americans don't begrudge wealth, as long as it comes with responsibility. |

Oh, and patriotic liberal...as an officer and the wife of a former officer I can assure you that on our salaries, we are anything but elites! My kids have lived in housing so small that to change the sheets in the baby's crib I had to hang off the top of the bunkbed because the crib was wedged between the dresser and the bunk. In more then one set of quarters we have had to set up our kitchen table in the laundry room because the kitchen was to small for it to fit - and we have GREAT housing compared to what officers had in the 40s and 50s.
And we won't even begin to talk about the conditions that our "officer elites" live in while deployed or in the field. |
