Catching up, don't know if you're still following this one.

OK, Euclid, you find one offensive comment from a liberal and I'll give you ten from conservatives.

enough to remember the 70's (or have studied their history) know that this doesn't get better anytime soon. 1974 to 1983 was a long time. In fact, some parts of the country will NEVER be the same. At least not for a generation or two. Look at the rust belt. Sure they were doing much better than they were at the bottom but they never matched their hey day. And they're sinking fast. Even in good times those area's continued to lose population, tax base and the promise of a young energized work force. Don't belive me? Take a drive from Detroit to Pittsburgh.

Yup, I worked through that time in the Steel Industry. Pittsburgh went through a revitalization and pulled itself up. As long as labor intensive practices are maintained, the Auto and steel industries were destined to die.

The Steel Industry was never bailed out.

How They Compute "Jobs Saved"
CALLER: Okay. Well, I found out yesterday one way the Obamas may be keeping score on jobs created or saved, my wife and I own a manufacturing company, and one of our customers received stimulus money. So they send us a form from the Department of Administrative Services, about 50 questions to go through and two of them were how many jobs were created or how many jobs were sustained. So I put zero because there really wasn't any, and sent it in. They called back and said, "Well, didn't anyone..."

RUSH: Well, now, wait, I'm confused. You didn't get the stimulus money, somebody else did. Why are you filling out the form?

CALLER: They bought our product.

RUSH: Oh. So stimulus money bought your product and then you had to report back to Washington?

CALLER: Correct. Yeah. And so they said, "Well, how can it be zero, didn't someone process our order or make the product?" And I said, "Well, to me a job sustained is if I didn't have to lay-off or fire someone because you ordered something and that's not the case." And he had a guide that the government provided that explains their logic on each line item, and they said, "No, sustained would mean that someone actually worked on the product and made it and so that counts as a job sustained." And so I said, "So the person that answers the phone would be one, the person that boxed it up would be two," and I said I can't do that.

RUSH: What happens if a machine answers like if you call 211?

CALLER: Yeah. So I gave 'em one, but, you know, that's one too many, and, you know, I'm sure that's what they're going to use --

RUSH: This administration is phony from top to the bottom.
Don't Tread On Me writes: Friday, July, 03, 2009 11:57 AM
Obama Causing Job Losses
CALLER: Just wanted to point out real quick here, kind of quick hit before I get into the real jobs number, I think I may have figured out where Obama is getting this "saved" number when he talks about jobs.

RUSH: It's made up.

CALLER: Well, it may be because of how many employees are still employed at ACORN since he's been the president. Maybe that's where he's getting that. But, you know, just back to the real jobs number that came out today at 9.5% unemployment. I find it real interesting that over the last six months, the first half of this year we've shed over 3.2 million jobs but ironically there is a private sector that has added 122,000 jobs and that's health care, the only private sector that's gained jobs. Is it possible, Rush, that Obama is going to make sure that the only sector that's going to grow the economy is government jobs? And so therefore that's why he's trying to socialize --

RUSH: Regardless of the mechanics of it all, regardless of the mechanics, the one area that's really growing is government employment. But they're even threatened now with all these states in trouble, government employees are in trouble. But this is a systematic wrecking ball taken to American prosperity. There is a War on Prosperity. It's being led by Colonel Obama, and it specifically has as its aim to deplete the private sector. Now, if health care happens to be an exception to the rule, I would have to say that the market is dictating this in the private sector. Obama is not doing anything to cause jobs to be hired in the private sector, folks. Nothing. Zip, zero, nada. What Obama is causing to happen is jobs to be lost.

The unemployment rate will level off in time I suppose but it will still be at least 8-9 % nationally come 2010. There is no 'magic bullet' to stabilize it any lower by that time.

Expect things to be very interesting that November.

And BTW, if Gov't can stop a recession, how come we even have them?

Obama is NOT the only Political FRAUD! Want to LEGALLY remove Obama from POTUS? Start HERE:

There is an ongoing criminal conspiracy among Obama supporters in Nashville to cover up crimes committed by his campaign in 2007, 2008 and 2009. These crimes include, but are not limited to, VOTER FRAUD, IDENTITY THEFT, COMPUTER THEFT, INVASION OF PRIVACY and petty BURGLARIES similar to WATERGATE.

Judge Tom w. Brothers and a Partner in Karl Dean's favorite FIRM, Bass Berry & Sims, were INDICTED once and Tom w. Brothers and Bass Berry and Sims will be INDICTED again and CONVICTED this time.

When Nashville Judge Tom w. Brothers was first INDICTED for Drug Money Laundering Karl Dean was the Public Defender FIXING Cases his Wife's FIRM, Bass, Berry & Sims.

According to an old Law School friend of mine who was working for the DEA when Tom Brothers was INDICTED for DRUG MONEY Laundering, Bass, Berry & Sims was the biggest Drug Money Laundering FIRM in the Southeast.

My DEA Agent Friend's words were similar to what Phil Williams of http://www.NewsChannel5.com wrote about Russell Brothers. According to Phil Williams, Russell Brothers was a "Giant among Giants" in the Drug Smuggling Business.

Somehow the Deans accumulated a "reported" Fortune of $100 Million despite the fact that they both grew up poor. The cover story spun by the Deans is that Ms. Dean's STINGY MISER Uncle gave her the money.

Coincidentally, the Deans' cover story was similar to Tom Brothers' cover story about where the money that he was LAUNDERING for his Convicted FELON Uncle Russell's Drug Money came from.

Tom Brothers testified at his trial that he thought, "Uncle Russell got the millions from selling insurance for CNA."

The news just keeps getting worse
Employers in the U.S. cut 467,000 jobs in June, the unemployment rate rose and hourly earnings stagnated, offering little evidence the Obama administration’s stimulus package is shoring up the labor market.

The payroll decline was more than forecast and followed a 322,000 drop in May, according to Labor Department figures released today in Washington. The jobless rate jumped to 9.5 percent, the highest since August 1983, from 9.4 percent.

“This will be another jobless recovery,” said John Silvia, chief economist at Wachovia Corp. in Charlotte, North Carolina. “We may get positive economic growth driven largely by federal spending, but people on the street will say, ‘Where are the jobs?’”

Yes, it is a pleasant change.
Frank was one of the main reasons I stayed away form commenting much here. He truly was the lowest form of idiot. Nothing to say but spent all day saying it. I quite enjoyed humiliating him from time to time. His only interest was in being noticed. He once bragged about how the bloggers actually addressed him directly conveniently ignoring the fact that none of the bloggers comments were remotely positive.

TH could play a useful part in advancing center-right debate but will have little success if they continue to let the site be nothing more than an insult forum. If conservatives spend their time reacting to the trolls (whose sole purpose for rushing to post first is to get you to do exactly that) instead of being proactive then the whole thing becomes nothing more than a snark fest. As such it's waste of bandwidth.

TH appears more interested in traffic volume then they are in anything involving promotion and growth of a conservative or even center right movement. Until those with influence on the right understand that they have to play to win instead of playing hoping the other side scores an own goal then not much will change.
The Plumber writes: Thursday, July, 02, 2009 5:25 PM
Thanks, Gruff
I've noticed that conservatives are actually commenting on each other's comments, and the actual topic of the post with more frequency. There are exceptions of course, but a good thing nonetheless.

Well No Bush to blame BHO or fellow lefties posting here on townhall. The unemployment rate is near 10%. The Stimulus did not stimulate . Jobs, well they are not really pointers to recovery say the MSM. Nope, BHO has convinced the lefty lemmings that other factors will show recovery, just around the time of the 2012 election. The Blue States run by Dem guvs and Dem Legs. are all going bankrupt and have dead industries that Obama has continued to destroy through this absurd Cap and Trade bill. With health-care coming as nationalization, the tax hikes should just about finish off profit making innovations. This naif in the WH is a tyrant. A soft one to be sure but a tyrant nevertheless.

The President started, It was like this when I got here after years of bad policy but we can correct this within a couple of years, wow not exactly word for word, but I was thinking of all those unemployed people out there listing to Obama, did he say anything to help the unemployed workers today, next week, next month, naw maybe within in a few years. He talk about that they were able to straighten out the financial market and then he said that the housing market getting better. We have in our neighborhood sign for sale every 4th house, the only ones that are selling are the cheap foreclosures, we have vacant new housing by the acre their prices are drop 50% from their old selling price. So Mr. President what has changed here, zip, zero, nada, zilch nothing our unemployment rate is topping 14% we are in a construction area I haven't heard a hammer pound on anything for 1 year or more. We have plenty of hot air from our politicians; yep it’s the same old Flim Flam Obama spewing out more bull chit.

Boehner is misleading. Again. The President said his bill would be stimulating employment by the end of 2010, not the end of 5 months. Not for anything, but isn't Boehner at a current low of around 23% favorability these days? It's understandable why he would want to appear in a video with the ever popular influence of dogs, but this is ridiculous when he combines the love of dogs with Republican deceit.

PL credts our current woes on...
"3 decades of Reep leadership".

Well, let's see........it's 2009 minus 30 years puts us back to 1979.
Hate to tell 'ya this but 1979 and 1980 belong to Jimbo Carter. Also don't forget that 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 belong to Slick Willie Clinton.

In summary......10 of those so-called "Reep" years belong to the DemonRats.

And if you want to argue that during a lot of those "Dem" years Congress was controlled by the GOP, then I counter with the last 2 years of GWB's term and the first 1/2 year of ODumbo's administration were/are controlled by ......guess what??......a Democratic controlled Congress.
AND those 2 1/2 years corespond EXACTLY with our economy's current failure.
A coincidence?????

Oh....no, no, no!!!!

these FACTS lend proof to the belief that it's not who's in the White House, dummy........it which party controls Congress....
(speaking of dummies........in charge now are Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Boxer, Feinstein, Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, and on and on.....)

Good sniffin' Ellie Mae..woof woof
Since last May, Minnesota has shed 96,000 jobs, and the seasonally adjusted rate is now at 8.2% compared with 5.3% in May of 2008.

Today, it was announced that a Hibbing, Minnesota, taconite plant shutdown will last nearly one year. 700 workers out of jobs.

Cliffs’ United Taconite is operating on a shortened, 32-hour workweek due to recession and lower demand for ore and steel. Good news for the employees but how long will it last?

Today, the EPA announces new emission standards for Great Lakes shipping, both ocean going freighters and lake traffic. Standards may result in the scrapping of some of the older vessels because some of the older manufacturers are no longer in business and it may not be possible for ship owners to make the necessary changes. Taconite pellets and coal (among other products) are handled through the Duluth/Superior port on the western end of Lake Superior. Good move on the part of the EPA: the economy is in trouble so lets make it more difficult for the shipping industry so the environmentalists can feel good.
