Rebounding Barack?
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 8:16 AM
That's what Reuters writes, and it will be enough for Obama to stagger into Denver with a delegate lead even if he manages to lose Indiana and North Carolina (and Kentucky and West Virginia).

What Obama has won is the heart of the left, and they don't care that he cannot win Pennsylvania or Ohio in the fall.  They want one of their own.  They prefer six months of theater they produce to four years of power in which they have supporting roles.

So the Democrats, fresh off the 2004 rejection of an elitist senator from the far left edge of their party, will choose to nominate an elitist senator from an even farther left precinct of their party, only one much less experienced than John Kerry.

Incredibly, the Dems are about to nominate the hardest left major party candidate in modern American political history, despite that candidate having lost almost every big state primary and despite his deeply troubling personal associations with radicals and crooks.

They are counting on a partisan media running interference for Obama, and a general fatigue with Bush to burden McCain as well.  Before long they and the MSM will be hissing at anyone who brings up Rezko, Wright and Ayers, and opponents of Obama will routinely be accused of racism.

So a lot of the Obama opposition will simply go underground, but it will not change its mind.  Every count in the indictment Hillary built will remain valid, and in circulation, and persuasive: Obama comes out of a radical environment, he has no experience, and the center-left Democrats won't vote for him.

John McCain's task is to travel this country extolling its virtues, its history of raising up all of its citizens and protecting the world, and its responsibilities today in that world.  He doesn't have Reagan's charm, but McCain's record of service and sacrifice is greater than Reagan's was in 1980, and McCain has the reality of the world's dangers as a backdrop.  Even the most reluctant conservative will have to recognize that Barack Obama represents the wholesale abandonment of the country to the hard left's agenda.  The nomination of Obama complete's John McCain's outreach to the conservative wing of his party.

Yesterday the Los Angeles Times ran a story on the rearming of Hezbollah:

Almost two years after its war with Israel, Hezbollah has rearmed and is stronger than before the conflict, according to Israeli and Western officials and the Lebanon-based Shiite Muslim group itself....

Hezbollah now has about 27,000 rockets and missiles, more than double its supply before the 2006 war, Israeli officials say. Acquisitions include Iranian missiles capable of hitting Tel Aviv, they allege.

"The Syria-Iran-Hezbollah axis is closer than it has been since 2006," an Israeli security official said in an interview. "In operational planning, the Syrians know that Hezbollah is part of their defense architecture. Hezbollah is stronger than before the war. They have improved their antitank capabilities, the number and quality of their rockets."

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has asserted that the militia's arsenal has attained or surpassed its prewar level. He has said that his weapons can hit "any area in occupied Palestine."

Read the whole thing.  This isn't news.  It is just a reminder of the world we live in.  Does anyone really believe that there isn't another major explosion coming in the Middle East?  Can you imagine Barack Obama superintending it?

Hillary, yes.  Obama, no.  The Democrats have a chance to reclaim the White House, but the hard left of the party would rather have the party than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Mike,
STOP IT!

Don't you see what the Democrats are doing here? They keep attacking "Bush, Bush, Bush" because they know that McCain is popular. They're trying to associate the unpopular Bush with McCain for EXACTLY the same reason that we're associating Wright with Obama--it hurts the candidate to be associated with an unpopular figure.

And you keep falling for it. You keep being baited, rushing to Bush's defense, and so reinforcing the perception that McCain really is just a continuation of the Bush policy.

LET BUSH GO. Stop defending him. Stop allowing the discussions about Obama and McCain to be hijacked into endless discussions of Bush.

It doesn't help the GOP and it doesn't help McCain to keep trying to defend Bush. The public has had it with Bush and you can't keep beating that dead horse.

How many times do I have to explain to you Democrats that BUSH IS NOT RUNNING this year? McCain is.

Unless you can show that McCain enthusiastically backed these policies, what Bush has been doing is irrelevant.

Your incessant attempts to paint McCain as a shill for Bush are not going to work. And conservatives like me refuse to be baited. McCain has disagreed with Bush on numerous issues, including Rumsfeld's conduct of the Iraq War, global warming, etc.

McCain is the candidate. Not Bush. Bush is yesterday's news.

God and Country?
I hear that Obama is still talking about Rev.Wright. Hmm..Lets look at the bible. God gave his only begotten son so that others could live. Wright teaches people to riot and hate so that people can die! Jesus healed with love, Wright tries to "heal" with hate. Where does it say in the Bible to Hate your neighbor? It says to Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Obama did NOT say that Wright was just a pastor or friend but a MENTOR! A MENTOR! Think about that.

Its simple..True Christians don't surround themselves with people of hate ( ie, Wright, Ayers, etc). Christians would not subject their children to the false and hateful rantings of the Rev. Wright. Christians would not be proud to be a member of a church where Rev.Wright spoke.

If you want to heal a nation and bring people together, do it through truth and love, not bitterness and hate. Are you listening, Michelle?

Whose grasping at straws when you start bringing the 100 years in Iraq quote up to defend Barack?

Reverend Wrights quotes were not taken out of context and in fact were available as his "greatest hits" in his church.

The 100 years comment is wildly taken out of context and is being used to attach McCain firmly to GWB.

Let's see, Obama knew nothing of this side of Wright even though the man married he and his wife, was his mentor, baptized his children, and was his reverend for 20 years.

Yeah, that's almost the same thing as saying that we could remain in Iraq for 100 years as long as our soldiers were not being hurt or killed (which would indicate that the war is over).

Michelle Is a Fake
Because of her life of privilege, she has no clue how the rest of us live. She's trying with all her bleeding heart to identify with the woes of the common man, but she has no clue.

She whines about her student loans so we will think she's one of us. She whines about her child care problems and dual income needs. She has her troubles too so she knows the trouble we've seen.

Baloney! This is just like Hillary dodging snipers. Making up stuff to make her sound real to the rest of us.

We are not buying her elitist patronizing pandering. Phony, phony, phony. These folks have NO idea what it's like to be a normal person in America.

My family is proof that the American Dream is alive and available to all who will work and contribute to her Greatness!!"

Nope, what we get from this inexcusably angry socialist girl, is: Bad America. Folks are scared. Folks are depressed. Folks can't even afford to be Neighborhood Activists and PAY BACK Federal Loans for their schooling!! Poor us! Shame on America!

Michelle Obama's Unhappiness -
Hitchens, Steyn and several other journalists have correctly pointed out that Baraks wife is exceedingly unhappy almost depressed -virtually every statement she makes says people are ISOLATED, FRUSTRATED, FEARFUL, ANGRY, THE BAR keeps being raised, can't live on what they earn, can't go into real jobs like "community organizer" etc., because they are paying off college loans,

Question: If Barak can't make Michelle happy how can he make all the rest of us happy ?

I think she wears the "pants" in this family. Maybe she will do the "negoiating and diplomacy" with Iran, Korea, China, Syria, Pakistan since Barry is a wuss.

I was just wondering if you have any new ideas that would improve the life liberty and freedom of the peoples of this nation? You always criticize the tried and true, successful conservative policies that have proven to increase these virtues yet have espoused no creative ideas of your own or your party for that much. Don't you realize that you are backing failed miserable policies from the left which lean the way of tyrany and slavery to God's people? Succinct policies that have been thrown on the ash heap of history yet you believe they somehow haven't yet been tried by the correct leaders? Why do you think that socialist policies are the best for our nation when they have brought only suffering death and misery to mankind all throughout history? Can I call you a moron? (Laughter)

Oops. What I meant to say was it doesn't matter if the Obama/Ayers association isn't that close... But whatever. Ayers or Wright. It's not a matter of typical con thinking. It's typical voter thinking.

I believe the Average Dem Joe (as opposed to hard-core leftists, who support Obama)will hear a simple message: Obama went to a church where the pastor screamed God damn America and served on a board with a domestic terrorist who stomps on the flag.

Bloggers can argue the distinctions til the cows come home, but the average voter will not. He or she will just hear a simple, bold anti-American message. It doesn't have anything to do with libs or cons--just the perceptions of average people who don't pay a lot of attention to details.

HH just now playing Michelle. The woman is beyond annoying. Complaining that her 70-something year old mother has to take care of her kids because the Obamas can't make it on one salary. Michelle was making $350,000 a year. Well, I say let Barack stay home and take care of the kids and let the Obamas scrimp by on her salary. However, Michelle thinks "mean America" should do something so granny doesn't have to do kiddy-care.

I just don't think the average person is going to warm up to this angry, nutty, grating woman.

Do you have any idea how stupid that claim is? Do you not realize that from the moment of Israel's creation, the Muslim countries of that region have been hell-bent on her destruction? Do you no know that four of them invaded her days after she declared herself a state -- and that there have been three major wars of aggression since that declaration -- wars that predate the Bush administration by many, many decades?

Do you not realize that the Iranian revolution occured during the Carter presidency -- not the Bush presidency. And do you not know that the 8 year long Iraq - Iran war occured twenty-odd years before Bush took office?

Those are examples of "middle east violence". Please explain how Bush is responsible for those incidents and wars.

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=51121

Concerning the woman's right to choose, you're probably correct that it lands a candidate somewhere in the middle 60% of the country and not on the hard left. However, it's my understanding that support of partial-birth abortions puts him squarely on the hard left.

Any links to some credible, contrary sources would be appreciated.

Truthseeker,

the Democrats are in control of education in this country. Also, the only solution to healthcare is not socialized medicine.

The Democrats are the ones who support all of the abortion clinics in minority neighborhoods. The Democrats are the ones who support aborting black children in a percentage far greater than the abortion rates for white, yellow and brown children.

A child living outside of the womb is no longer a fetus, still Obama supports the murder of these children. That is your Obama. He supports infanticide. If you do, be honest about it.

What if....?
If the Democrats were smart....well they'd be Republicans, but that's not my point. If they were acting rationally as Democrats, the super delegates would be looking seriously at Hillary Clinton at this point. The Democratic support that the super delegates are so keen on being a part of should be viewed as something of a mirage at this point. What would the delegate count be if the events of the last month had taken place in December? Would Obama have as much support as he does now? Would he be the presumed candidate? And yet the Obama of today is the one the Democrats are likely to insist represents their party. The Obama that sees middle America as "clingers," the Obama that wouldn't repudiate Wright but is now right to repudiate. This is the Obama that will face McCain in November. For a party as down on America as this one, an Obama nomination seems awfully optimistic. Perhaps, it's not just Michigan and Florida that need a do-over: perhaps the Democrats ought to have a national do-over.
