Good Luck To Alan Colmes
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 6:28 PM
As an occasional guest over the past few years on Hannity & Colmes, I have gone more than a few rounds with Alan.  He's a pro, always a gentleman, and while rarely right in his analysis, has always been a pleasure to spar with.  I hope Fox keeps him front and center in the years ahead as he is certain to have excellent sources inside the Obama Administration.

Another brilliant non-responce...
by Mr. Intellectual One Trick Pony. Again, showing the lack of any understanding of even the basics of these types of internet forums. Why should one expect anything else from your ilk? My bad.

Anyway, Colmes plays his part within the Fox forumla (read: success) and he'll be missed by the network. Your have the dominant personality in Hannity and the more submissive one in Colmes. In the course of playing to that substantial audience that's sitting there to be had, he's done his part well. It's tougher than you'd think to find that kind of chemistry where conflict is found to be compelling to so many. And btw, there's nothing wrong with that sort of thing on one channel within a cable universe of like 90+ channels. But it's not surprising that a grown man would tire of the role at some point and want to do something else. I'm surprised he's lasted this long, frankly, regardless of the money or the other goodies he gets. I agree with Hugh in the sense of hey, good luck to him. event.

Look genius, this is an Alan Colmes thread. Right, your first post said you didn't care for him. And that's fine. Point made. Now you're done. See how easy that was?

Do you even have any clue as to the nature of topics and threads and how that all applies to internet blogging and message boards?

I understand the distinction between knowledge and predictions, that the future is open-ended. In fact, you could probably use such an understanding..

As for your grim outlook, complete with activist judges and a hard right Great Reaction, who knows? maybe. Stranger things have happened. The greater likelihood, in my opinion, is that the public experiences relatively effective Democratic governance and, for a generation, remembers with a shudder the failures of Republican leadership. Those failures were strategic, economic, civic, and moral.

Sorry to say, next time the pendulum will swing too far to my liking to the right!
It will not be conservatism.
You have no idea where we are heading in few years, things will gradually change, and change.
With activist judges appointed by the Democrats, who will keep trampling the Constitution, leading the nation where no one ever dreamed of, you will find few left in the middle.
The Country we all so cherish, love and enjoy its liberties will be on hold for a long while.
Till, Some will remember history, and how it used to be.
And then, First the pendulum will swing to the very hard hard end of the right.

The "last laugh" verdict is in. We're getting the last laugh. After a quarter-century of preening and self-important right-wingers, brimming with hubris and conceits, you've been trounced two straight elections. Your party is in disarray. It is discredited. All the strutting and taunting, even up to November, but certainly over the past couple decades--we are "laughing last."

There will come a time when the pendulum swings back towards conservatism, that's for sure, but it sure won't be the current variant of conservatism that has driven America into the ground. It will be something you folks come up with in prayer and humility and honest Christian inquriy. But you guys are miles away from that point.

2CENTS....LAURA IS TRYING TO HELP YOU.
You are hurting your cause by continuing to write false and ill-informed statementd.

McCain was born on a military installation in Panama but could have been born in Moscow and still been a natural born citizen because his parents were both U.S. citizens. Not so with Obama who had only one parent who was a citizen and thus the rules change.

His grandmother has stated msny times that she was present at his birth in Kenya.

Cos and Obama's websites each show "real" certificates but each is different and both have been altered.

Newspaper birth announcements are printed when phoned in by anyone and hold as much legal status as an engagement announsement.

Obama has spent many thousands of dollars on attorneys to refuse the release of his real birth certificate, if there is one, as well as other documents such as school records which could indicate birth info.

Obama could put an end to this if he released the documents but he refuses. What is he hiding?

Please go to that site and educate yourself.

The Constitution says:

"If Obama's not a natural born citizen,

He doesn't get the chance to be sworn in."
sarah writes: Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 1:00 PM
eddie - it's so obvious its unreal
the document takes 5 minutes to find in the records. The governor of HI would give it to him in a moment's notice. So why is he hiding it and why are the courts reluctant to ask for it? I hope the justices make a request for him to provide it. I am really hoping he is natural born, even if I don't want him to president, otherwise we will really be in a crisis.
sarah writes: Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 12:57 PM
Thanks Monique - I signed and send out
the request. I don't like Obama much and I do hope he is a natural born citizen just because our country's system would really be in jeopardy for having a foreigner become commander in chief when he has access to all that 'confidential' information for military intelligence. I also hope other's do the same and I have emailed as many people as possible. My hope is that he obama will provide the EASY TO FIND DOCUMENT called a birth certificate complete with doctor signatures so that we can all put these questions to rest. If he does not, I am sure it will comeout sometime sooner or later. There is always the tapes incase of Nixon, the blue dress in case of Clinton and with Obama the birth certificate incase he is lying about his place of birth. Lies do eventually come out - even if the person is president.
eddie too writes: Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 12:56 PM
The million dollar question, why will

not Obama provide his original birth certificate?

Another million dollar question, why did Obama try to pass a forgery off as his birth certificate?

I understand that the answer may be that Barack Obama, Senior is not identified as his father on the original birth certificate and he did not want to point that out.

However, it seems preventing a constitutional crisis is more important than pretending he knows who his father is.

my2centsplus - not bigotry just facts
I have dual citizenship, my kids have dual citizenship but were born here. However, they have always held the same name since birth and it would be easy to provide a birth certificate to prove they are natural born citizens. We are also not white and have relatives in asia, africa and europe. Obama's issues are major - his aunt in Kenya says she saw him being born, his mother's best friend who lived in Seattle confirms his mother brought him to seattle to visit when he was a few days old, and to boot - he posted a fake birth certificate on his web where his dad as described as African under race. Obama's sister Maya has given 2 hospitals as where he might have been born as his campaign. Somehow, the hospital where he was born is unclear and his aunt saw him being born in Kenya. In the sixties blacks were negro or coloreds yet his father was described as African on his fake birth certificate that he posted on his web. These circumstances make it easy for any logical person to support berg in saying 'obama should produce his birth certificate confirming he was born in a specific hospital in HI complete with doctor's signatures. Why is this difficult? Plus Obama has used multiple names throughout his life and we need to know if he used his legal name on the ballot. Did your father have these many questions surrounding his birth? I doubt it. It's not bigotry, I am a multi-racial person with many multi-ratial and multi-cultural family members and we are all wondering......who is Obama- really? One document will clear up any misunderstanding so why won't he produce it?

I went. And becaue I am honest, I will tell you, I don't see the problem. My father had a certified birth because he was born at home in Nebraska. He needed a passport, and there was no birth record for him. His aunt verified he was born. so, by your logic, my father could have born just about anywhere.

He's an american citizen. Sorry to burst the bubble. But your barking up the wrong trees. Maybe next time, the bigots in the party won't discount a very well qualified person, just because he's a different brand of Christian. That's what this boils down to, right?

As much as Alan Colmes pissed me off, the chemistry between him and Sean Hannity is what made the show fun and interesting. I think it will be hard to find a replacement, as we have seen with the guest substitute hosts.

And I don't think Hannity alone would be the same. It is the real right/left debate that makes the show interesting. On all the other shows, everyone is on the left, but some pretend to be moderate.

HAWAII STILL IS A STATE
Re: The confused comments by MY2CENTSPLUS at 1:26AM and 1:29AM

Yes, Hawaii was a state when President-ELECT Obama was elected but, more importantly (to make your point), it was also a state when he was born. Check the NewsAtNoon to make sure it's still a state today and pay attention to the weather report to verify that the sun came up this morning.

The state of the state has nothing to do with the phoney and different birth certificates posted on multiple sites. If Obama cannot or will not produce a valid birth certificate he cannot be sworn in. That's the law.

Obama has nothing to do with lower gas prices...
he keeps prices high by refusing to drill until he bankrupts coal companies and skyrockets
electric prices.

You'll be even more proud of your children if you describe them using capital A's but most proud if you discribe them as American without the racial discrimination adjective.

I have conisered it, and looked into it. He was born in Hawaii. A state, at the time of his birth. McCain was born in Panama Canal Zone. A terrority at the time of his birth. Both were within legal rights to run for office. One won, one did not.

I am fair minded. I also noted that gas has dropped, the market has begun recovery and Obama's birth cert is a total non issue. If Romney would have been the candidate and won, you would have found something to question him about as well. One of my daughters was born in Mexico, yet has a Utah ammended birth cert as she was adopted here in Utah. While she is smart enough to run for president, she is not eligible because she was born outside the United States.
Laura writes: Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 9:12 AM
2cents: Are you a fair minded person?
Have you ever even wondered about the validity of Obama's Birth Certificate?

Have you ever gone to the site and compared the pictures of the one Obama claims to be his birth certificate with the one right below it for the same year, and seen the total difference in the documents?

Have you ever wondered why Obama has 'THREE' teams of (expensive, tax-payer funded lawyers) fighting to keep from having to produce his birth certificate to the court?

Have you ever wondered why his own Kenyan grandmother told some investigators that she was in the hospital IN KENYA when he was born?

Have you ever wondered why Phillip J. Berg, Attorney At Law is fighting this with little to no funding?

Before you blindly accpet this man as your President, you should ask a few questions - or do you beleive in being led to slaughter without so much as a question on your mind about this man?

And stop accusing people of not wanting him as President because he is black. You can't know that! You can't speak for people!

I wouldn't want any illegal as President even if it were my own husband. We do have laws in the country and they should be adhered to, lest one day you might need one and not have it, as what is about to happen when 'your' President takes over.

Laura writes: Tuesday, November, 25, 2008 9:01 AM
MoniQue: Thanks for your continuing
effort to prevent Obama from being inaugurated on January 20th. It thrills me to see that someone has the backbone to want to stand up to this injustice that is about to be prepetrated on America by allowing an illegal alien to become our President.

America is very close to being taken completely over by the Liberals who are as far from common decency, morality, conscience or compassion as any place on earth has ever been. It's sad, and it breaks my heart because of all our great forefathers did to assure us of a new nation that was based on the Judeo-Christian faith, only to have it, the American Flag, the rights of the unborn, and common decency trampled underfoot and their sacrifices tossed aside for the wishes of the most evil, wicked and heartless members of our society.

I am totally flabbergasted at the lack of common sense the left has. I don't understand how they can not see the Communist-laced Agenda Obama has planned for us all. The complete ignorance of the left where this man is concerned knows no limits - and because of it, we are all going to suffer like we have never suffered before. Continue the fight, and I will assist you by forwarding the information you post on this subject to all those in my address book.

Fox Democrats Like Black Conservatives
To fbear's post:

Let me clue you folks in: Being the "resident liberal" on Fox is a good career move only if you have no other choices. Alan Colmes is not highly regarded by folks on the left.

It doesn't matter what liberals work for Fox News, Juan Williams, Mort Kondracke, they will never be accepted by their leftist colleagues just because they are on the evil Fox network. Hillary Clinton could go to work for Fox News and she immediately would be relegated to "not highly regarded status" by folks on the left.

It's like the black community not accepting Clarence Thomas or Thomas Sowell. They simply are not one of them because they bear the conservative philosophy.

The one reason I liked Colmes, is because he is one of the happiest liberals I have ever seen on television. Unlike Olberman who has mad perma brow and has to shout at the screen, Colmes did it all with a smile and an underestimated sense of wit. He respected the other side as much as his own. MSNBC doesn't respect any other opinion but their own.

Never liked Colmes, all he did was recite inane talking points, just like most stinking libs do. Except when Ann Coulter was on, then I liked watching. Remember when Ann called called him a liar and he came unglued! That was great.

Need I remind those of you who are praising Colmes that he tried to blame Governor Palin for causing Trig's Down syndrome by flying after her water broke? Of all the scummy things the left said about Mrs. Palin, what commie Colmes did was up at the top.

He doesn't deserve pats on the back, he deserves condemnation. Plus he was a phony.

I hope he takes Hannity with him. That man cannot debate and all he does is repeat his own inane talking points (he thinks they're so clever, he loves repeating them over and over again). Hannity and O'Reilly both got big heads with their success and became unwatchable for the most part.

Fox is only worth watching when they have unapologetic conservatives on.

H&C became unwatchable too many times with Colmes. He's from the Dan Rather, fake but accurate school.

I believe that Rove, Morris, and many others became irate with him because he was more a contrarian than an accomplished challenger. Typical of those on the left, emotion wins over reason.

It's really bad when he insisted on telling the guest that they, the guest, said something they did not say. And, he would insist they did say it even after the guest denied it and stated what they had actually said.

Good riddance for the guy that thinks OJ is innocent. He REALLY is a dim bulb. Let him go be a 'nice guy' somewhere else.

It's a shame but...
it was probably inevitable. We should be happy that the two of them stayed together as long as they did. I can understand that Alan probably feels like the foil for Hannity's dominant personality and would like the opportunity to be his own man. Especially through the past two years, Alan has been forced to defend some pretty indefensible positions. I have wondered, at times, if he really believed some of that stuff or had to argue the position because of the tenor of the show. More often, however, I have seen Alan as one who argues poor positions well and in the end desires to be fair in his own assesment of the facts and in the presentation of his side. He does not tend to descend into mindless vitriol or ad hominem and does not appear to subscribe to the oft employed technique of talking over one's opponent. I love Sean and agree with him with decidedly more frequency than with Alan, however, I can't help but think that the show will lose some of its soul without Alan. Though they disagreed on almost every issue, the barbs they threw at each other were always tempered with humour and an underlying sense that these two people really did like each other. I don't think they could fake that for 12 years.

Pity
It's a pity that we have someone of the caliber of Colmes, and have to put up with such as slimer as Huck on the same station. Good luck Alan. Gentlemen are hard to come by. And on the right, they are now as rare as hens teeth.

Goodbye
I liked him best when he said nothing. It was like Chinese torture listening to him argue with Hannity. His job was to take the contrary position no matter the issue. Even if he mostly agreed with Hannity, he always made sure he found at least one point of contention to raise.

Annoyance
Message to Sean and Fox:
I would prefer to have Sean go it alone, but if you do get a replacement for Alan, who I agree seems like a genuinely nice fellow, please let it be someone who allows guests to finish answering the question. It looked like Dick Morris was becoming increasingly irritated while trying to answer the question put to him by Alan. Yes, Sean will also interrupt, but I think he is pretty disciplined to only interrupt when the guest refuses to answer the question and heads immediately into talking points.

Alan Colmes
This is payback to Sean Hannity for having the gall to confront Obama with the truth!

Alan figures
that with the impending Fairness Doctrine that he will get his own show and that it will be a felony for us not to watch him as much as we watch Hannity.
