Today is the 215th Anniversary of the finalization of the original Vermont Constitution. Although its politics today make it arguably the most notable state where modern-day liberalism thrives, classical liberalism dominated its founding. It is lovely with its green maple clad mountains and old preserved 18th and 19th century houses, but the local economy sucks and no one seems to care. As local farms and businesses struggle, it has become a playground for seasonal flatlanders from New England, New York and New Jersey. Why is New Hampshire so much more prosperous? Here's a hint, it's the poltiics not the water.
Vermont it is time to seize your destiny. The only thing you have to lose is the bondage of your kooky liberal politics. |

a long time ago, much like we are losing CA by just leaving. I used to live in Tidewater VA and were these stately homes on the Chesapeake Bay that were being sold for white flight. And I kept wondering when do you stop running from a problem and start fixing it? Vermont gave up? Will we? |
|
My family used to vacation in the Burlington area in the mid-1950s, and I have fond memories of such a wonderful rural environment. We were from NYC and the people in Vermont were different then. Small-town America. Fresh vegetables and fruits sold by the roadsides, a magnificent Lake Champlain for leisurely boating, warm days and cool nights.
I'm sure all that has changed, judging from the goofs they send to DC these days - Lying Leahy, Bernie the Red, Dr Howard the Scream, Jumpin' Jim Jeffords.
What a shame. The Democrats are a plague, like locust. |
|
The Dems are like a plague of locust, everywhere devouring everything.
Terri: I'm with you; stay put and fix it. But like the plague they are, it's almost impossible. People wanting their handouts keep voting them in.
Vermont might be fixable. But CA? The mess is bigger than all of us. Too big for even the Terminator, who tried at first to fight government workers' unions, but finally gave up and just became a Dem with an R.
The Golden State has long been Cacafornia. So sad. |

That Vermont is liberal and it has one of the worst records for prosecuting and sentencing child molesters and rapists? |

Do a little research on Tim Gill. There's quite a bit on him. A multi-millionaire major liberal who is pouring his millions into the states he wants to push his agenda through. Don't believe me?? Serious, go on line and Google the name, Tim Gill. Guy lives in Colorado, BUT he has his pockets in MANY state elections, Vermont being one of them. |
