On Like Donkey Kong: Cavuto at 4 p.m.
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 2:59 PM

Check me on Cavuto at 4 p.m. We're talking Iraq, and undoubtedly, Kerry's comments. Good gracious. Gotta love the week before elections.

Update: Click to watch.

Sorry the blog's been so Me-centric today, but it was so fun to get to talk about John Kerry. I mean, who'd have thought I'd have a chance to do that? I thought I was two years too late on the scene, but no, JFK pulled one out for me. Really, I think one of the most positive things about this for Republicans is not only that it reminds people how Dems are deficient, but it also reminds Republicans of what 2004 was like.

I thought that earlier today. The cloud of pessimism rose as Kerry's foot rose to his mouth, and I thought, "man, remember how good it felt to get out there and work to beat that guy and how good it felt to beat him? And, how it was totally the right thing to do? We should do some of that again." Got me a little charged up. Maybe I'm not the only one?

And, looks like I'm not. George is feelin' it, too.

The American Legion jumps on the bashwagon.

Will You Be in the Studio?
I'm curious as to whether his head is as large in person as it appears on TV.

Finally on Fox
MKat, it will be good to see you on Fox. Since I don't watch CNN, I had to catch you on the Internet reruns.

Congrats!!!!
You seem to be the flavour of the month, start writing the book now, so you can ride all this good exposure.... ;)

To comment on the previous comment; MacZed, do you think if the Dems regain any ground they'll try and reinstate the draft? Last I heard (I think on black five) the Marines at least had meet recruiting goals.

Can you imagine...
...if he'd just apologized for "any unintended slight"? It could have been mostly over. But two press encounters later, it's just worse. It was news ALL day.

Note: He should fire his joke writer, speech writer, and speaking coach. Bad topic, bad words, and bad delivery. How can they expect people to not take the words at face value? Duh. It's mindboggling that he can't see how foolish he looks. Again. Go MKH!

He may have flubbed the joke...
But he ended up saying what he meant to say.

Kerry's 35 year punchline about troops
MKH,

Great appearance on "Cavuto."
According to my scorecard, you are 'undefeated' thus far in your TV appearances, boasting a record of 3-0.

I couldn't believe the 'it was only a joke' excuse which your lefty adversary on "Cavuto" offered.

John Kerry explicitly established a predicate for NOT getting stuck in Iraq; 'getting your education, studying hard, doing your homework, and trying to be smart.'
The flip side to Kerry's predicate is that someone who has an education, WON'T get 'stuck in Iraq.'

And since President Bush has an undergrad degree from Yale, and an MBA from Harvard, one can say that the President "has" his education.
By virtue of Bush's education, Kerry's predicate argues that Bush won't get 'stuck in Iraq.'

Therefore, how can Kerry explain that he was merely joking about the President's Iraq policy ?
He cannot.

Pasadena City College is an entirely commuter school---there are NO dorms.
It is a 2 year community college from which students transfer to a 4 year college/university.
Kerry was explicitly speaking to young college students whose education/career paths are uncertain.

Now we know that in his heart of hearts, Kerry believes that entering the military is merely a 'last resort' for dummies.

And it's just as you stated on "Cavuto;" Kerry's disparaging of the military is the same punchline he's been making about our troops for the past 35 years, beginning with his 'Genghis Khan' testimony about our troops in Vietnam.

Stuck in the 60's (on Stupid)
MKH, you are great on TV, and I love seeing you there. You take to it, and you are a great advocate for the conservative position.

Kerry is still stuck in the same place as the vast majority of the far left anti war types. Their self image was entirely defined by the anti Vietnam movement. Its where Kerry learned his chops.
What he was trying to say was that the only people going over there and dying are the minorities, the poor, the failures. Because, in the 60's Vietnam draft, 18 year old men had few options. Go to college, go to the peace corps, go to Canada, or go to Nam.
Oh, and the privledged few like Kerry got to grab quick officers duties for a few months, make a name for themselves with a few high profile bronze star moments, then come back and use those 3 months service as a irreproachability sheild that you then use for the next 30 years to justify your sensational high profile smears against the good men who really DID fight and die because they were not connected like him.

The great selling point for the intense dislike of the Vietnam war (which I shared then and still do) is that they were drafting unwilling, mostly middle to lower class young men to send into a war that they NEVER INTENDED TO WIN.

The DEMOCRATS were running that one, and they were just as mealy mouthed and chamberlainesqe then as they will be now if they are put in charge again.

Bush is fighting this war, he is not just sending boys to die. And the war is being fought by men who voluntered, who believe in the action, and who are among the very best America has to offer. The best of the best. Nobody is getting sent to war 'against their will'. They signed up for this duty. They believe in their country, in the service, and in the war on Terror. THEY ARE PROUD TO BE SERVING.

But to Kerry and the Left, that is inconceiveable. Because their understanding of war, and of who THEY are, is all based upon the sick, eliteist, political, indecisive body mill that the DEMOCRATS turned Vietnam in to.

We lost Vietnam because we REFUSED to win. We also REFUSED to get out. Just enough to keep it going. Forever. Over 50,000 Americans dead. Think of that. And the Democrats compare that fiasco to Iraq?

Now the Democrats are hell bent to see to it that we repeat that failure. And for what?
To prove, once and for all, that Bush is evil?

I love you, but...
MKH,
Time for some constructive criticism.

You seemed more nervous in this appearance than in previous ones. Your opponent was a little smoother with her delivery, even if what she was saying was garbage. (of course, it is easier for liberals to appear smoother since they don't have to stop and think about what they're saying)

BTW, where the heck was Cavuto? He is starting to become like Johnny Carson. :P
