A Hard Choice, But The Right One

I'm disappointed. Doing it right after the Vanity Fair controversy, muddled in investigations, with nary a few months to see her term through -- why bow out now? And I fear the worst: that Palin has a skeleton in the closet, one she doesn't want to come out while she's still in a position of power. Her lack of reasoning during her press conference would provide fodder for that theory.
But I trust her to have done the right thing. I trust her a lot more than I did, say, Mark Sanford, after that first rambling presser. Palin seems more shrewd than that -- she knows what she's doing. She's looking at the cards and isn't just holding out for the river, but instead cashing in her chips when she thinks she should. Maybe it's for her family, or for the integrity of the Alaskan GOP. Maybe its for her future presidential run, or maybe it's just because she's just sick of politics all together. But in any of these situations, staying one more day past July 26 just wasn't going to work out. I'm disappointed at that choice, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that it was the right one.

I sher hope she, ya know, runs fer da presidency dare...I'd like another liberal administration. It'd be like putting an 18 handicap against Tiger. Can you imagine her in a presidential debate? Oh, what fun that would be. |

What Michael Steele is doing this weekend?
Will he still be employed as of the 25th?

Really Jillian! Did McCain's gang not scrutinize her background when they vetted her? If there was a skeleton to be found, they would have found it. Its not there. You can stop worrying. |

"She is resigning She didn't quit. Bit of a difference."
In what way are they different? |
|
Here's some restoration, reformation, & revolution that Our Founding Fathers supported:
1) Advertise and Promote the Fact that you are forming a Grand Jury in Blogs, Local Newspapers and Community Organizations.
2) Form the Grand Jury and select a Foreman.
3) Select a Private Attorney General to make Presentments to Grand Jury, if local DA refuses to make presentments.
4) Select a convenient Meeting Place.
5) Communicate with all Citizens who have criminal information to present.
6) Schedule presentments by said Citizens.
7) Subpoena documents from Government Offices and Officials.
8) Schedule presentment of said Documents to Grand Jury by Grand Jury Attorney General.
9) Have Grand Jury Attorney General present said Documents to Grand Jury.
10) After investigation and deliberation is completed, vote and issue a True Bill (Indictment) or No True Bill.
11) Announce all Indictments to the Press.
12) Serve the Indictment on the Judiciary for the Issuance of Arrest Warrants.

She didn't quit. Bit of a difference.
Why would you be happy with her double-dipping ala Barry? Seems pretty cagey way to serve your 'public'.
I mean, if you don't believe in your chances enough, and you want a position to 'fall back on', I guess double-dipping is a fine thing. I think Sarah is a bit more honorable and focused than that.
More importantly, why would her constituents be happy with a Guv who is busy with books, tours possible campaigning? |

Also, gives the Rahm Emmanuel/Chicago style of politics a huge victory. See, if we just slam and slam, smear and smear...they will leave, or fold under the pressure, or just screw up. We win!
They just did.
I get how you can say she's clearing the path to 2012 w/o the duties of governor. Money can roll in. I get how you can say she's putting her family 1st.
She quit. She did what the Obama team and DNC would love: leave the elected position she had.
Leave it under a cloud....I hope I'm wrong on that. But, I just don't see any other real reason for her to do this so suddenly........ other than health. |
|
I like Palin. I wish her family, & her well. I hope & pray it is not a health issue, or a scandal..... The sudden departure leaves that very much a real possibility- a sex or money scandal of some kind. I hope not.
However, she just quit the elected job she won. With plenty of time left to on the calendar.
From tough, determined, fulfull your promises Barracuda.....to self interest, political aspirant, quit to make money Palin.
That's not Presidential material.
The Obama team and Romney team are preparing the 'Quitter' ads right now. Why vote for someone who just walks away when times get tough?
