"Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks."
That's from Senator McCain's defense of Joe the Plumber, who's become Public Enemy #1 for the left -- simply for having had the temerity to ask Barack Obama a question that Barack now, doubtless, wishes he had answered differently.
One of the (many) great underreported stories of this campaign has been the left -- and the media's -- effort to silence dissent about the greatness of The One.
Obama Action Wire alerts have been disseminated in order to intimidate radio stations that dare air the views of Obama critics.
Then there was the Missouri Obama Truth Squad, made up of law enforcement and prosecutors, which threatened a "vigorous response" to any "misleading" criticism of the Obamessiah.
At least one pundit -- me ;) -- has had commentary invitations withdrawn from an MSM outlet because pro-McCain/Palin views are not welcome.
As I noted earlier this week, there's a deliberate effort on the part of the Obama campaign and the press to silence and marginalize Obama critics -- a troubling precedent, should Barack win. Will we then be "dissuaded" from criticizing the President?
It's ironic that, after spending eight years screaming about the supposed "suppression of dissent" by the Bush administration, the left's own behavior is what really bears the whiff of totalitarianism.
Any "civil rights" that were supposedly jeopardized by the Bush Administration (critics still haven't provided specifics) were in the service of protecting us from a murderous terrorist enemy. The left's effort at speech suppression is in service of a political candidate. It's a telling difference.

It is astounding to me that the libs on here want to trash "Joe the Plumber." My gosh! Is anything beneath them? I don't care if he is freaking Pinoccio and his nose is three miles long! You are worrying about Joe and ignoring the three hundred pound gorilla that is Obama's answer to him!
Maybe you are a bunch of people who didn't bother to get an education, so you don't make much money, and you are all about somebodyelse's money flowing your way. Well, those of us who make a decent paycheck are not feeling too generously toward you--and for good reason. Get off your lazy butt and do something for yourself.
I do not work hard so a nutjob like Obama can "spread my wealth around." You people making over $30,000 a year better wake up and realize Obama is no friend of yours. He is nothing more than a thief with an eye on your wallet! |
|
Obama was in Rev Wrights church for 20 years, and Obama must share Wrights views of America, along with, Bill Ayers,Resko,Evans,Pflger,Farrakhan, and then you have, Pelsoi,Dodd,Reid,Franks,Franklin Rains, Jim Johnson,Fannie,Freddie,ACORN, these are corrupted organizations associated with Barak Obama, wake up America. |
|
Here we have it. Obama's "different" kind of campaign.
He is showing us what a man of the people he is - Better put Joe on your prayer lists ! |

do their jobs and then the common people don't have to? |

You miss the point entirely as usual. No matter who or what got the chosen one to say the words "I think it is better if you spread the wealth around" those are his actual words recorded for the world to hear that BHO said them. Here we go again with the Clinton era politics of personal destruction MO that is to not focus on what the front runner in the presidential race, the likely leader of the free world actually said, but pick on and besmirch and try to embarass and belittle an average american citizen who asked a simple question...What Joe Plumber said, who he said he was, if he has tax leins etc is all of no consequence to you, me or anyon in the USA, but BHO's now admittedly socialistic world view and opinions of how things should be will have a direct and measureable effect on you and me and the USA. The DEMS....forget the message, just annihilate the messenger... |

Who cares about Joe the Plumber?
I care about Rev Jeremiah the Hater....
AND William the Terrorist Bomber.......
AND Tony the Convicted Felon.......
AND ACORN the Corrupt Organization......
These seem a little more important to me..... |
|
Joe the Plumber is actually HIS OWN worst enemy - the left is merely amused by the fact that the guy McCain talked to {the ONLY American, outside his wealthiest friends, that he seemed willing to talk to} turns out to be LIAR. And a big one, at that!
Not only is his name SAM, but he is not actually a plumber! He makes $40K a year or thereabouts, not $250-280, he's not actually looking to buy his boss' business (which is worth only $100K, rather than $250K).
Oh yeah, and he's a tax evader, ta boot. McCain's "Joe America" is a fraud - just like McCain's campaign.
A note: seems that "Joe" [Sam] is registered to vote under a misspelled name. Given the GOP's attack on voter registration, Joe - who turns out to be quite the wingnut, and not as "undecided" as he claimed - won't actually be able to vote as a result of GOP hardball.
Karma. Pure Karma.

Obama met the man and it was a one second story about a man disagreeing with Obama.
McCain was the one who brought Joe up during a nationally televised debate and used him repeatedly to attempt to sell his tax policies.
If you are seriously telling me that it was Obama's goal to put the spotlight on Joe I have to question your sanity. |
|
The lawsuits Obama supporters want to file against the NRA and media outlets who play their ads critical of Obama. Clogging the phone lines of shows daring to question "the one". Democrat support of reinstitution of the (un)Fairness Doctrine so they can try to shut talk radio up. Then there was the kids singing about Obama saving us. Admitedly he hasn't done much yet - he's not in power.
If Bush had done stuff like this you can bet the Bush-is-Hitler crowd would have got their panties in a bunch - and for once they would have been right! |

More like jack boots and hoods in your neighborhood.
Ultimatly, the middle class and the normal Americans are the ones that have cherished the Second Amendment over the decades. We have the skills to rebuff intrusion and constitutional mayhem.

Diane just got you with strategic well-timed humor. It just went over your head.
You'll learn one day. |

Thanks! Whenever some townhall poster responds with a vacuous insult, I know I've made a good point they can't figure out how to answer! |

So, 'fascist dictators' complain about media outlets? Hmm. I thought they tended to be a bit more severe.
Also, I know that y'all are trying to mitigate the disaster of the upcoming election, but Obama is going to get power from the American people, not ACORN. And Obama will help to RESTORE the Constitution, which conservatives have shown so little care for. |
|

This is just the beginning of the decline in our freedoms. Freedom of speech will be first. Anyone with any brains can see his obvious irritation to any opposition to his views. He constantly brings up FOX. Why? He has everyone else on his side. Because, he is acting like a facist dictator. And, if he gets in power, thru his ACORN crowd, then it is the end of democracy of us. The democrats will give him power and throw out the constitution. This sounds ridiculous, but I believe it's true. |

...go get your rabies shots. |

But wait--aren't we in a time of war? Didn't you used to say that if you attacked the Commander in Chief in a time of war you were undermining the truth?
It's funny that you are getting preemptively fearful that Obama supporters will act like Bush supporters. Don't worry. They're not going to plant FBI agents in your church group if you oppose group--that's Bushian behavior, and Obama will stop it. |
