1/2 Hour News Hour Sneak Peek
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 12:23 PM

Allah found a YouTube clip of the show I wrote about yesterday-- slated to premiere this Saturday--but it appears to have a different woman in the anchor chair than Susan Yeagley.

It's mildly funny at points in this clip, but looks like it has potential to get better.

Update: Uh-oh and double uh-oh. I'll still give it a shot, but I'm nervous. Luckily, "Red Eye" has been pretty fun so far.

They need Julia Gorin
She and her Republican Girls Gone Wild are
the only funny conservative comedy act
I've seen. They are charming and unique,
and although not everything "works" yet,
I really think they've captured lightning in a bottle.

nothing's funny in a vacuum
Comedy's not funny in a vacuum. It takes a receptive audience. If you've ever eavesdropped on the green room of a comedy club, the sick material that comedians use to make each other laugh would just bomb up front, but the comedians know that. They don't do that stuff on stage. What makes a standup comic "professional" is knowing what kind of material to pull from the toolbox, based on the audience. I don't think liberals and conservatives will ever laugh together at hard-core political humor. Ann Coulter doesn't have a lot of liberal fans. That's why it's non-political, or soft-core political comedians (like Jay Leno) that survive. But Janeane Garofalo for example, a few years ago, took half her audience, spit in their face, and kicked them out the door. And didn't even get even a Grammy....

Is that the political way of saying you didn't find it funny :)

It's funny enough
I think they should get Larry Miller involved. That guy is a funny conservative.

I agree on the laugh track. It's atrocious.
