Health Care Throwdown: Palin vs. Pelosi
Posted by: Meredith Jessup at 12:13 PM
Sarah Palin used her Facebook page today to send a message to Nancy Pelosi: "Speaker Pelosi: Your Blue Dogs are Howling."
Like many Americans, I’m very concerned about the efforts underway to rush through the 2,000 page Pelosi health care bill this weekend. Why the rush? That’s a lot of pages to read. Why not give everyone the chance to read it and debate it?

How much will this bill cost us? It’s unclear because the figures coming out of Washington keep changing – and always in the direction of costing more, not less. The latest numbers show it will cost more than a trillion dollars over the decade, but when has a government program ever come in on or under budget?

How will we pay for it? Taxes, of course – and not just on the “rich” (you know, the people who spur the economy by buying goods and running companies that employ people), but also on just about everyone, especially small businesses – the job-creating engine of our economy. One of the points of health care reform was to help small businesses with the cost, but this bill hurts them – and right at a time when so many Americans are out of work and need the jobs that small businesses produce.

What’s in this bill? The “death panel” provision is in it. Medicare cuts are in it. Coverage of illegal immigrants is in it. And federal funding for abortion is in it. I commend the many Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are taking a principled stance to fight this.

I had a message for Speaker Pelosi in a speech I gave last night for the Wisconsin Right to Life – “please, please don’t break the ‘transparency promise’ by prohibiting at least a vote of your colleagues on funding abortion-on-demand.”

Speaker Pelosi has already broken many promises thus far in this “reform” exercise. She promised that this would be a bi-partisan effort, but the bill she’s pushing isn’t bi-partisan. She promised that the final version of the bill would be posted online 72 hours before it comes to a vote so that the American people could clearly see what’s in it and how we will pay for it. But she broke that promise too when she decided to rush the bill to a vote this weekend.

The speaker must be held accountable for her broken promises. Now is the time for Americans who believe in the free market and who believe that we need policies that promote job growth instead of job loss to say once and for all, “Enough!” Stand up and make your voices heard before it’s too late. Call and email your representatives and tell them to vote “no” on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote “no” to sending them back to Washington when we go to the polls in less than 12 months.

There were 4.5 million pink slips FEDEXED to these nincompoops and I read somewhere that

The Botoxed gang are reading the wrong tea leaves, they think because they picked up two seats they have a lock in the election even if this health care scam passes.

What 'Throwdown?"
This isn't a contest between these two people -- are you all really that nuts???

Pelosi is the Speaker. For all her popularity Palin is just another Facebook blogger -- another pundit. Her "message to Pelosi" is just one of many -- and I'm sure it will get as much attention as mine or anyone else's message from the public will get.

I'm sure Pelosi has better things to do this weekend (like lobby elected officials) then worry about what the losing Conservative V.P. Candidate, and elected governor who quit in her first term think or write. Like most American, Pelosi probably doesn't give a rat's behind about what Palin thinks.

Palin gets very little respect from actual elected officials and it's a safe bet to say that she has almost no clout on the healthcare front. Her ignorant comments about her parents and baby Twig standing in front of a "death panel" showed the world how tenuous her grasp on reality is, and how her entire agenda is about spite and retribution for how she feels she was "harmed" by the media.

Throwdown?? In Jessup's perverse fantasy world, maybe it's a "throwdown." But for the rest of the world -- Palin gets old quickly -- her whining is getting very tiresome.

Corndog writes: Saturday, November, 07, 2009 3:23 PM

we should resolve this healthcare issue.

Let's have nancy pelousy and Sarah Palin strap on the blades and throw down the gloves on the ice. The one who skates off gets to decide the fate of the healthcare bill.

I've got a vision of nancy p. with her jersey over her head and Sarah p. throwing haymakers like Ali on speed.

And it's a beautiful vision.

The 100 year emergency
I really don't think the Democrats realize how foolish they sound stepping up to the podium and ranting that 'we have needed to fix this crisis since Teddy Roosevelt first said we needed it' and other ridiculous statements for the record. They will be embarrassed when the 'record' comes back to bite them in the next election.
then there are others who are invoking - yes they are - the other Teddy - Kennedy that is. We must pass this for Teddy, blah, blah, blah, they are really desperate to pass this spending bill. they need to raise taxes right away to spend on the paybacks and favors they owe - don't worry, if you are unemployed and uninsured, 2013 is just around the corner, you can wait for your coverage.
Before they mess something else up why don't they stop, go back and fix some of the things they have already messed up.

My wife hates virtually all politicians and probably don't think much of Sarah either.

Still, she says that the uglier the woman, the more she will dislike Sarah Palin.

"Palin gets very little respect from actual elected officials and it's a safe bet to say that she has almost no clout on the healthcare front."

Oh....then why worry about her let alone post about it?

If she "has no clout" and is "just another Facebook blogger" why pay her any mind during a debate about the biggest piece of legislation in 40+ years?

You could focus on something you find relevant. And there lies the effectivness of Palin.

You can't ignore her because she makes people like you who think she has "no clout" treat her as if she has "clout" thereby cementing the fact that you do indeed find that she has "clout" therby dismissing any claim by you that she has "no clout"

Thus giving her "clout".

Don't worry. You can read this over and over again to get it.

Or are you living proof of Seadog's wife's theory on why woman like you hate Palin so much?

I acknowledged Palin's popularity. Of course she's well-known, but no I do not believe that she has a grasp of reality or an understanding of what's in the bill and the true implications of it.

I get what you're trying to say -- it's not brain surgery. But there's a difference between recognition and influence. You'll read what a celebrity has to say, but will it influence your decision??

It's obvious that she doesn't understand the bill so how could she have any influence?

Yeah, that Sarah Palin really is stupid, isn't she? Remember how she talked about FDR going on national television to address the 1929 stock market crash? What a doofus! Didn't she know FDR wasn't president in 1929, and that national television didn't exist?

Oh, wait a minute. That wasn't Sarah Palin who said that. It was Joe Biden.

Well, what about the time she leaked national security secrets to the press? Doesn't she have any sense at....

Oops! That was also Joe Biden.

What about the time she lied about her class standing? She claimed to have graduated in the top half of her class, when in fact she finished near the bottom....

No, that was Joe Biden, too.

Hmmm. Didn't she plagiarize from an English statesmen's speech? No, that was also Biden.

What about that ill-timed comment she made that people should stay away from air travel because of the flu scare? No, that was Biden, too.

On second thought, maybe Sarah Palin isn't so dumb. Next to that "genius" you call a Vice-president, she looks like Albert Einstein.

If you have info to the contrary, please reference it.

"Palin gets very little respect from actual elected officials"

So what? You do understand that the 535 congrassholes and senators are not the ones that would elect her nor whom she would represent. You might want to consider the 59.9 million people who voted for her and McCain as the ones whose respect she commands.

I'm pretty sure she views them as somewhat more important than the respect of a couple hundred lying crapweasels in DC.

Will ACORN Get Cash Earmarked in Health Care Bill for ‘National Network of Community-Based Organizations’?—Bill’s Author Says ‘I Don’t Know’

en. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.), the man who is shepherding the health-care reform bill through the Senate, says he doesn’t know for sure, but the controversial Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) could qualify to receive health-care grants under a provision of the bill that provides money for groups that are members of a “national network of community based organizations.”

The grants are designed to fund groups that will "measure" people's health-related behavior on the community level, including whether they are gaining or losing weight, eating the right foods, getting exercise, using tobacco, or engaging in other personal behaviors targeted for federal monitoring by the secretary of health and human services.

I'm not sure why this guy snapped, but the fact is, it was clear long before he went off that he was snapping. So I ask the question, why didn't the military let him resign his commission 6 months ago when he came to the FBI's attention.

Why? Because if they start letting people resign because they disagree with the war, pretty soon they wouldn't have anyone left to fight it. So instead of just letting this person out, they fought to keep him in and insisted on deploying him to Afghanistan....

Oh,maybe because if you gave soldiers a CHOICE whether to continue to fight these wars for Israel, most of them WOULD opt out. Thanks for bringing things back to point.

I concur. The desperation for Nan is showing in everything she has been saying since this summer.

And now she is going hat in hand not only to get some sort of HCR bill done, but to save her sorry career. If she doesn't deliver here... well it's the night of the long knives for her.
She knows it. We all know it.

Palin has survived the disaster of John McCain and proven herself a viable concern for RINO's with NY. She can take a punch and then hit back. The book could be lights out for a few more RINO's as well as some party hacks who work behind the scenes. While everything and anything is subject to change, she will be if nothing else, a "king maker" in conservative politics for many years to come. She is young and just hitting her stride and anyone who would discount her for a moment is a fool.

And Neo. Are you suggesting that I ease up on Ax?

Not a chance man. Not a chance.

Other Eugene...
"I served, unlike you, and I have the DD214 to prove it..."

So does Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

Me- Actually, they only issue DD214 after you complete your service... THUMP. Please actually learn what you are talking about.

And, no I didn't ditch you in any other thread, I'm actually not really bothering to follow what you say, since you seem quite incapable of reading anything and comprehending it.

My Middle East Policy by Ax:

Kill the Effing Jews Now!Thank you,

Ax"

Me- Please point out where I said that?

My point was, and you keep missing it, is that they've CHOSEN to live in a region where their neighbors don't want them and will try to kill them. They've made that choice, stupidly, foolishly, etc.

Why should WE be sending young men over to die for it, send our tax dollars to support it, and incur the wrath of the people who want to kill them? We'd have no problems in the Middle East if we didn't support Israel.

We have no dog in this fight, but we keep acting like we do.

Me- Actually, Palin doesn't have a future in the GOP. They'll use her to raise money, but the fact is, the people who really run your party will never make her the nominee. She ticked off most of the establishment with her idiotic stunt in NY23, where she essentially helped hand a safe GOP seat to a Democrat.

For Pelosi, actually, I agree, she probably has a limited life as speaker. The Dems will take losses in 2010, because they always do in midterms. I think that Pelosi and Reid will both be gone after the midterms (Reid because he'll be voted out by his own state, Pelosi because Hoyer will move against her after they take losses), but Obama might be better off for it. Pelosi and Reid were effective as oppossition to George W. Stupid, but they are ineffective at moving agendas forward. He'd be better served with Hoyer and Durbin or Schumer as floor leaders.

The megalomaniac has policies! Could it be his voice will reach the White House? Could it happen his "policy" has more than hot air to offer?

Me- Oh, I'm a realist. As long we have a proZionist media, you are never going to have a sensible middle east policy...

Travel in Europe some time. They see the issue completely differntly, because they aren't bombarded by Zionist propaganda like we are.

Nope, instead, we'll keep propping up this Zionist Crusader State, keep getting hit by terrorists until we get tired of it. Eventually, though, the Arabs will Push Isreal into the sea. Or blow it off the map. It's just how much lives and treasure are we going to waste in the meantime.

WRONGO, Buddy!

A DD-214 is issued at the expiration of each enlistment, even if one re-enlists. (A person who re-enlists is technically out of the service for a twenty-four hour period.)

I believe you said that you served eleven years. If so, you should have at least three DD-214's, depending on the length of your enlistments. If you have only the one from when you were discharged (or released) from the Army, then you should contact St. Louis and get copies. (I did that a few years ago when the USCG wanted ALL of my DD-214's and I couldn't find one of them. (I needed them to obtain a Merchant Marine Licenses to Officer from the USCG.)

FYI: There is a web site titled "Military Records" that can be used to obtain missing DD-214's. (I never used it myself -- going on what a person told me who did use the site.)

I believe, but am not certain, that a DD-214 is issued to an officer when the officer completes any sort of contract, such as signing on for six years active duty to qualify for a particular program or training. The officer does not, thereafter, receive a DD-214 until he leaves the service or retires -- not entirely certain about this. . .

I only have one DD214, and it is issued at the end of any period of active duty... Well, technically, they issued one when I completed IET as a reservist, but I don't count that one... and even you aren't entirely sure. There certainly wasn't one issued when I completed my first active duty enlistment of three years, at least not that I know of.

Still, I doubt Major Hasan has one, and aren't we kind of getting off track here...

I am certain about DD-214's for active duty enlisted folks, but not for officers. Not certain how reserves are handled either.

You might be correct about Hasan, but, again, I'm not certain what happens when one completes training. He might have gotten one when he completed the Army Medical College and obtained a commission. That is, of course, if he was some sorta cadet while attending medical school -- no idea how that works.

I've had 3-4 admirals who were ex-enlisted and all were very proud of that, but one really pushed the bubble. He bragged about having prior enlisted service as an E-5. I (rather his writer) discovered that his only enlisted service was while he was an Aviation Cadet, who are paid as an E-5 during training! I don't know if he had an DD-214, or not.

What is IET? Do you mean AIT? Are you sure you were in Military?
