Comptroller Can't Talk About Auto Bankruptcy??
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 11:15 AM
Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R.-N.C) asked Acting U.S. Comptroller General Gene Dodaro to discuss what would happen if the Big Three were forced into a managed bankruptcy just now in the Banking Committee hearing.

His answer was, essentially, "I don't know."

"We were called into this at the last minute," he stammered. "We haven't really studied this position to answer it with any degree of certainty."

"I really can't offer much insight there," he said.

This is inexcusable. He's the head of the Government Accountability Office and he can't address bankruptcy as an option for the Big Three? He hasn't studied it? Please Isn't the whole point of this hearing to try to hold the automakers accountable for the money they are going to be sucking away from the taxpayers? He's been Comptroller since last March. It's not like this is new news to him.

not his paygrade AND not his concern!!
He don't know; because he did not "need to know"
-This is only another peak into their actual logic [so-called] -or the absence there-of.
This Bail-out/SELL-out is actually a 'done deal'-
All of this [+ the 700 Billion stuff] is agreed
on ahead of time!!
-(like where did they come up with that 700 number anyway??)-((& If IT WAS SO Important to pass back then?? WHY is it being 'spoken of'[in part] as still needing to be handed out??))
CNN = Certainly Not News
-This big-3 chatter & Most of all we see is just..."theatre for the masses"- that we call modern government.
forget all this DC 'buzz'-they aren't listening to us ..."they have their orders"
Work with your local leaders where you still have some chance for change
PS- the UAW.Inc may take a hit, but is not going away... Unions...& China are married to DC
they R 'safe' - we commoners R Not

Desired scenario...
would be for GM, Ford, & Chrysler to survive intact.......
but the UAW to go away......
I am not anti-union....
I am pro-union IF it works out for everyone concerned........
The Big 3 cannot compete with foreign companies that are subsidized by their governments and all the while these same governments do everything possible to block the import of American made products........
The UAW probably has to go away and simultaneously we need a federal govt. that will look at these trade imbalances.....
Our govt. then needs to impose the same restrictions on the Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, etc. that they impose on our products.....
We have had gutless leaders for decades that refuse to adopt sensible policies.......
We are about to start importing CHINESE cars, for Pete's sake......
These are the SAME PEOPLE that have tried to poison our pets, poison our infants and children with tainted baby formula and lead painted toys, all the while trying and sometimes succeeding in hacking our Defense Dept. computers.....
We need to cut economic ties with these people ASAP.....

Maybe
Maybe that is because this is "above his paygrade"
Brianna writes: Thursday, December, 04, 2008 12:12 PM
Yow
I am speechless, just for this Gene Dodaro needs to forfeit his pay. And explains how $700billion and somehow mushroomed to over a trillion dollars.

Heaven help us!
I'm seriously beginning to wonder if Obama's appointees can be any worse than what we have now.
