Stanley Kurtz Will Open Today's Show
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 3:23 PM
The unbelievably thuggish attempt by Barack Obama to smear and shut down Stanley Kurtz's research into Obama's tenure as leader of Chicago's Annenberg Challenge and Obama's partnership with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers should send every credible journalistic organization in America to Kurtz's defense, and lead to an outpouring of support --financial and otherwise-- for the Ethics and Public Policy Center where the widely respected and admired Kurtz is a fellow.

As noted earlier, Obama has spent more time and energy condemning Kurtz's research than Ayers terrorism and rhetoric of anti-American extremism. (HT: RobinsonandLong.com).

You can support the Ethics and Public Policy Center via this link.

Et tu Brute
Wasn't that the gest of Mrs. Clinton's speech, and when Mr Clinton spoke didn't you hear this:

"Friends, Romans, countryman, lend me your ears! I come not to bury Ceasar, not to praise him, the evil that men do lives afer them...and greviously hath Ceasar answer'd it. Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest (for Brutus is an honorable man, So, are they all, all honorable men)..."

Was that not the quest of Bill's bombastic apotheostic panegyric silliness?

What?
Nancy Pelosie, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin Barack Obama are not the generic Democrat? Then somebody needs to tell the generic Democrat that their party has been turned over to radicals and they need to do something about it.

Speech
Aside from the over-the-top jumping-the-shark speech from Barack Obama this evening, I want to thank him for presenting himself as a generic Democrat.

Yes, he is Dick Durbin, Nancy Pelosie, Harry Reed, and so forth--he's a radical and so is the generic Democrat--as socialist as socialist can be.

Indeed lets change the Congress--boot the bums out like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosie--Democrats are clearly not up to the task of running a free and liberated society.

The fools rewriting history for Ayers
Are truly sick.
Ayers used violence to terrorize people.
That is what a terrorist does. He has never recanted or shown remorse for his terrorist acts: He is a terrorist.
Part of being a successful terrorist is to blend in and to hide. Arafat did it- pretending to be a political leader, to name just one.
That Obama chose to hang with a Ayers shows he puts the romance of terror ahead of this country. And Obama today seeks to silence by intimidation and threats those he does not approve of. Showing his commitment to civil rights for all Americans is a simple lie, designed to hook the weak minded, as we see expressed by the Obamatons defending their master.

Sorry, I'm Still Correct
Brian,

No need to insult me. It only undermines what you have to say. And no matter what you say, I remain Sane and point out the obvious.

The definition you cite is hardly universal and is so broad that it could conceivably be used to describe flag burning, police brutality, and the violence of the Bush White House.

Additionally, this is a definition written up in the last few years, under the direction of people like John Woo and Cheney's aide Addington, long after the Weather underground was no longer.

What I said still stands. No one ever called Ayers a terrorist until Hugh started doing it.

He is a lawyer. He knows that you cannot perform these kinds of post hoc descriptions of people. He is being dishonest when he does this.

Clearly "Sane" is False Advertising
Not-So-Sane Woman,

You said, "if you go back to the late sixties and early seventies, look at the news, read the publications, the newspapers and magazines, no one called Ayers or the Weather Underground terrorists. Radicals, yes. Terrorists, no.

It is dishonest to call them terrorists now."

Is it? Well, let's go to the definition of terrorism:
"Terrorism is defined in the Code of Federal Regulations as “...the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85)

I'd say that smacks Ayers and the Weather Underground right in the ole pie hole.

Have another go, lady.

You know that they shredded the really incriminating documents, don't you? That's why it took them so long to produce, because they were pulling an Ollie North with a loyal Fawn in the back room.

Actually, I know someone there, and they had to redact all of the personal info...like social security numbers, checking accounts, home address info. Thankfully, they did that. The Annenberg Foundation is truly a gift to America in terms of supporting eduction and public broadcasting. No taxpayer dollars involved. I think Hugh just feels the gravy train pulled away and he wasn't allowed on board.

Simple answer to Pelosi's problem
This post isn't even about this, but do you realize that if Pelosi were honest and just said, "Even though I'm Catholic, my view is different than the Church." Or some such variation, she wouldn't have gotten any rebukes from anyone. She is having the problem becasue she tried twist things to fit her position. Any institution has the right to correct people who are misinformed about their position. I also don't get the argument that "most Catholics do this or that..." So what? Religion doesn't exist to conform to what is easy for people to do. As a lifetime Catholic who attended a Jesuit high school, I never ran into any problems with any priest or lay person associated with the church. I did run into people who gave their lives to help teach. I did run into people who spent years in Nigeria doing charitable work. I spent weeks in Appalachia Kentucky digging ditches, visiting hospitals, helping to build houses, and that was run by Catholic missionaries out of Cincy. Does anything excuse abuse of any kind? No. But when you start bashing, just remember that a high percentage of what comes out is benefiting people.

The 1st amendment proscribes Congress with these few words: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."

It does not say that we cannot discuss moral issues in congress or pass laws based on moral issues that flow from religious understanding.

At the Temple of Obama
The backdrop of gigantic roman columns for Obama's acceptance speech could be used for a revival of the 1960's stage play "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"

The opening song looks like a good fit as well:

Something familiar,
Something peculiar,
Something for everyone:
A comedy tonight!

Nothing with kings, nothing with crowns;
Bring on the lovers, liars and clowns!

Old situations,
New complications,
Nothing portentous or polite;
Tragedy tomorrow,
Comedy tonight!

Something convulsive,
Something repulsive,
Something for everyone:
A comedy tonight!

Nothing with gods, nothing with fate;
Weighty affairs will just have to wait!

Something erratic,
Something dramatic,
Something for everyone:
A comedy tonight!

Frenzy and frolic,
Strictly symbolic,
Something for everyone:
A comedy tonight!
