Another Obama Blunder

In my estimation, at least, this demonstrates that Obama's comments are already being used for propoganda purposes by foreign dictatorships ...
BRASILIA (Reuters) - Cuba's foreign minister on Wednesday said he welcomed a call by U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to ease restrictions on travel and remittances to the communist-ruled island. The only surprising thing here is that the chickens have come home to roost so soon.
|
|
...to call that propaganda, don't ya think?
Somehow I don't think that easing travel and trade restrictions are going to start of flood of Cuban communist agents pouring in and overthrowing the government.
Cuba is a reprehensible regime, but letting them trade a bit with us and letting tourists head over for vacation isn't going to bring us down. If anything, more exposure to our way of life will only make the regime look worse in the eyes of its own people. |

You may, or may not, be right (in terms of policy).
But the larger question is whether or not a CANDIDATE for president should insert himself in international relations... |
|
Do you people on the right even recognize a blunder after six+ years of such memorable gems as "I know how difficult it is to put food your family."
Do you have ANY idea what the rest of us normal people have had to deal with, having this foot-in-mouth disease President.
Never in Obama's wildest dreams could he out-blunder W. |

are funny, but have no long-term ramifications.
Obama's blunder is much more serious than merely using the word "strategery" ... |
|
Regarding:
"But the larger question is whether or not a CANDIDATE for president should insert himself in international relations..."
They probably should not interfere or insert themselves into international relations.
But I think there is a difference between criticism of standing foreign policy (or suggesting alternative foreign policy) and inserting oneself into international relations.
If Obama decided to hold a summit with Castro, then there'd be plenty of room to pile on the guy, but just letting us all in on what he would do as president regarding Cuba (or even advocating a policy shift as a US Senator) seems pretty benign. |

I'm happy to see that the right is sufficiently fearful of Senator Obama's candidacy that you continue to present these silly stories as somehow newsworthy. |

place his own State Department. I wish to know EVERY candidates position on Foreign Policy, prior to election day. But I also expect each candidate to respect the EXISTING State Department's Policy until then. That also includes sitting congressmen, former Presidents, and of course CELEBRETIES! To voice your position is one thing, but to have actual contact with a foreign government against the wishes of an existing State Department is poor judgement at best. Even the Mayor of Macon Georgia has recently pursuid an active relationship with Hugo Chavez, to the embarassment of his townspeople. Much of this new fad is over the line. |

"To voice your position is one thing, but to have actual contact with a foreign government... I agree with you ! It seems there is no loyalty to our Country. It's "all about me, me ,me" Look everyone ! I'm sharing my hate for the current leader of my country with the poor misunderstood killers of innocent people, aren't I special !?! Ala Nancy Pelosi going to Syria, I believe, against the President's wishes. The New York Times boldly telling our enemies how we try and track the bad guys. I can't believe that we are willing to throw our country "under the bus" just to get 15 minutes of fame no matter who it hurts. We are a country of spoiled rotten kids fighting in the playground while the world watches and laughs at us. Have we no pride of America anymore. Will it take a couple of mushroom clouds to wake us up...it'll be too late by then. So sad... |
