AP Points to More Discrepencies in Obama Job Numbers
Posted by: Meredith Jessup at 11:12 AM
The Associated Press is still not satisfied with the White House's accounting figures of jobs "saved or created" by Obama's stimulus:
President Barack Obama's economic recovery program saved 935 jobs at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, an impressive success story for the stimulus plan. Trouble is, only 508 people work there.

The Georgia nonprofit's inflated job count is among persisting errors in the government's latest effort to measure the effect of the $787 billion stimulus plan despite White House promises last week that the new data would undergo an "extensive review" to root out errors discovered in an earlier report.

About two-thirds of the 14,506 jobs claimed to be saved under one federal office, the Administration for Children and Families at Health and Human Services, actually weren't saved at all, according to a review of the latest data by The Associated Press. Instead, that figure includes more than 9,300 existing employees in hundreds of local agencies who received pay raises and benefits and whose jobs weren't saved.

That type of accounting was found in an earlier AP review of stimulus jobs, which the Obama administration said was misleading because most of the government's job-counting errors were being fixed in the new data.

The administration now acknowledges overcounting in the new numbers for the HHS program. Elizabeth Oxhorn, a spokeswoman for the White House recovery office, said the Obama administration was reviewing the Head Start data "to determine how and if it will be counted."

But officials defended the practice of counting raises as saved jobs.

"If I give you a raise, it is going to save a portion of your job," HHS spokesman Luis Rosero said.

Big props to the AP for staying on the story and holding the administration accountable.  I wonder how long before the White House's "reality check" website accuses the AP of "misleading" reporting again.  To read the rest of the report, click here.

Vlad, if you can cite factual errors
in this particular story, please do.

In the meantime, you are incredibly niave to beleive the comments will refrain from blasting o-bumbles at every chance. Haven't you vsited the comments at Kos? Back during 2008, there was plenty of conservative aggression towards Palin, which the Kos commenters used to "prove" they were right.

A little help
Last week Town Hall acted like the Associated Press was the same as the Daily Worker. Can you give us a clue when the AP is reliable and when it is not?

Better Find A Major Hidey Hole, Barry !

Anybody
besides me have a problem that they are using this money to give pay raises rather than hire people. Hey I am all for a pay raise but when so many are unemployed it might just be a smart idea to do what they did to the elderly. You know no raise this year. In past recessions both my spouse and I had many times that we did not get a pay raise. We were just happy to have a job and not suffer as those who had lost theirs had. This is really outrageous and to claim it saved jobs is as disingenuous as it gets but why would anyone be surprised. I am still waiting for one honest thing to come out of this administration.

For the life of me, I just can't
understand Rosero's logic: 'If I give you a raise, it is going to save a portion of your job'

In the real world, in the current economic environment, a raise and increase in benefits will jeopardize positions due to constrained resources.

Orwellian job creation or salvation...
...nah, the god president just flat out LIED! - again!

Last night we caught the first episode of the revamped miniseries "V". In this one the Visitors come promising "universal health care", major advancements in technologies (presumably clean, green, unlimited energy among others), and a new era of peace, tolerance, understanding, etc. All they want from The People is absolute devotion to the Visitors. Sound familiar?

Of course, we find out the Vs have a much darker nature. It is they who have infiltrated the planet for years and instigated all the horrendous, negative events that have befallen humanity in modern history. (It wasn't America's fault afte all!)

But can a Big TV show survive with the prevalent theme that invading aliens bringing in coercive, centralist Big Government control are evil, and The People who take up arms to fight them are good?

You Lie!
Wilson's words ring true again. Is there anyone in Obama's world capable of the truth? But then I quess telling the truth wouldn't be helpful for them would it?

The SCAM of Numbers
- -

What a SCAM: SAVED or created !

Who can challenge ... AND who could defend bogus numbers ?

How about a SNOPES-type clearing house that could challenge " the same as taking 2 million cars of the road."

BOGUS is bogus !
