You know, I'm so glad the president has called for "an honest debate" on health care reform, and "not one dominated by willful misrepresentations and outright distortions." It makes it so much more satisfying to call him out when he "willfully" misrepresents and distorts things.

During his weekly address last weekend, Obama tried put to rest the "rumor" that his health care plan would cover illegal immigrants:

Let’s start with the false claim that illegal immigrants will get health insurance under reform. That’s not true. Illegal immigrants would not be covered. That idea has never even been on the table.

Au contraire, Mr. President! The Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports that not only has the coverage of illegal aliens been on the table, but it still is on the table. According to CRS:

Under H.R. 3200, a 'Health Insurance Exchange' would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange.

Hm. Interesting. CRS also notes that the bill lacks any provision that would require people requesting coverage or service to provide a proof of citizenship. So as it's written--and already approved by the House--HR 3200 would indeed cover illegal immigrants.

Nice try Jordan, but you may want to get back on the porch little dog. By your reasoning we should just give any all illegals medical coverage. That would open the flood gates and entice all the worlds uninsured to move here for that wonderful free bee. You're promoting the California plan i guess. Just let em in, insure them, give them a welfare check and watch the entire system come crashing down. And further you moron, you want me to give up my great coverage cuz some border jumping criminal doesn't have any? This scam obama's trying to run is an attempt to get the camels nose under the tent so you commies can get to a single payer system. We're shutting it down. If the town hall I attended last night is an indicator, and it was, this health scheme is DOA. And as for those evil corporations hiring illegals, those days are just about over. Now we just need to figure out a way to get rid of about 12 million of them. Round em up and send em home. It will be cheaper in the long run. Ps. I almost wore my brooks brothers shirt.

once again, two peas. Says alot about their brains, too. EMTLA is a law that states no person seeking treatment for anything at an ER in the USA will be denied treatment regardless of ability to pay. So why should any person not covered bother to get covered if they have access? And that goes for the illegals. They even get kidney dialysis that has to be written off because of that law. You people are idiots.

Did you read the CRS report? The factcheck website is talking about an entirely different thing. I am not alleging that illegal immigrants will receive any kind of money from the government.

they don't want to accept the fact that businesses that don't provide healthcare for their employees rely on the taxpayers to fund it. And companies like Toyota can more effectively compete because they don't have to fund healthcare the way US automakers have done. Illegals are treated all the time. And the kids of illegals who are born in the USA are not illegal. So they get healthcare. I suppose that makes sense to the right....you treat the kids, but let the parents stay sick. So the kid needs more welfare because the parents cannot work. And you cannot deport the kids, so who takes care of them? Why should the kids be required to give up their legal birthright because their parents broke the law?
