In Perspective...
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 10:39 AM
Is it just me, or is the fact that Palin spent a lot of money on clothes getting as much -- or more -- attention than Joe Biden's "guarantee" that Obama will be "tested"?

Munck
So the McCain's have money. What is your point? Is it bad to have money? Is it elitist to have money? That's why people work hard isn't it? Is Nancy Pelosi an elitist too because of her money? Having money isn't wrong. Money doesn't make you an elitist. You cats need to invest in a dictionary to learn what words actually mean. Words like "hypocrite, elitist, fascism, racist, liberty, etc." Nobody needs to apologize for earning a good living or inheriting good money. There is no crime to having money. There's no crime to not having money either. It's about your value systems, not anything else. That's why unhappy poor people make unhappy rich people and vice versa. Also, there are people who earn decent livings and make good choices and retire rich, while others make a ton of money and go bankrupt. Again, it's about values.

"This is the just the same $400 haircut flipped around, this time on a Republican."

Yeah, but it's SEVEN YEARS of once-a-week $400 haircuts. When we add in Cindy's $300,000 outfits and John's $500 loafers, we're getting into the "elitist" range.

Funny, both the McCains and Palins own their own airplanes. I suppose Joe the Plumber owns his own toilet plunger.

This is the...
just the same $400 haircut flipped around, this time on a Republican.

Edwards was also a 'populist crusader' and he was widely ridiculed and mocked for spending that much on a hair cut, so this cuts both ways.

To be fair, any of us commoners who actually believe that any of our prospective 'leaders' are 'one of us' get what we deserve.

Apparently
Apparently the only way to be for "the little man" is to live in poverty. Please, learn the definition of hypocrisy. Real hypocrisy is something along the lines of people crying for real issues when others discuss Ayers, but then love it when we talk of Palin's wardrobe.
londongrl writes: Wednesday, October, 22, 2008 11:34 AM
Yep
because it changed the subject away from the liberal media's precious Obama.
Dread writes: Wednesday, October, 22, 2008 11:28 AM
Given...
a lot of tough races that the money could have gone to, I'd think a lot more of the party faithful would be more unhappy about it.

As to the press' interest, they love political hypocrisy on display. And when you wrap yourself in the mantle of a populist crusader for the little man, you'd best be prepared for someone to notice if you're not quite living up to your rhetoric.

They are part of the Obama election team. We all know it. Let's move on.

Matt is right
Political discussion is superficial--spending on clothes is much easier to grasp than foreign policy. Having said that, I wish that they had shopped at Macy's or Nordstrom, not Saks and Neiman Marcus, and that the budget had been smaller.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't affect my vote. It isn't as if I'd vote for the Obama-Biden pro-abortion ticket because of how much Sarah Palin's wardrobe cost.

Nominee
My wife has decided she'll run for VP if she can shop at Neiman-Marcus. After all, she can see a Starbuck's from our house.

Biden is a dullard, Palin is a threat...

Lets not forget the tens of millions in illegal campaign contributions that Obama is not releasing! I have not heard a word out of the press about that one!

The Michelle room service story was false - look it up. Never happened.
PC writes: Wednesday, October, 22, 2008 10:52 AM
Matt, get a clue
Palin called herself Joe Sixpack. Turns out she's not. $150,000 for clothes, make-up and hair, give me a break.

Joe gets a pass on everything, nothing to see here.
Nick Stuart writes: Wednesday, October, 22, 2008 10:51 AM
Or how about
Michelle Obama's room service tab at her posh New York Hotel. I think that was an Amanda Carpenter post a couple days ago. Lobster, Iranian Caviar, etc.

How much campaign cash is being spent to accessorize Obama and Biden. McCain for that matter.

$150k does seem like a lot for clothes, so I'm suspecting it went for a lot more than just clothes, it probably included the whole makeover. And if Gov. Palin didn't have the clothes and makeover, the MSM would be carping about her going around in Salvation Army threads with split ends and chipped nails.
