RE: Obama Pounces on Palin
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 1:19 PM
What's Obama got against small towns?

Hard to believe his first response to the Palin pick is to bash her for being a "former mayor of a town of 9,000." Reminds me of Bittergate.

Jill Hazelbaker, McCain Communications Director issued the followed statement: “It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results -- whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for President.”

Obama "Pounces" on Palin...
...in his dreams maybe.

The Obama Response
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency."

Does this mean that the Obama campaign is conceding the election? Wouldn't John McCain have to actually be president for this statement to be true?

Thanks John...
for handing Obama the presidency. Your Ferraro-esque pick should make for an entertaining between Palin and Biden. I hope Palin doesn't storm off the stage in tears... LOL

Chris
Why would she cry? Hmmm, what are you implying?

Obama; politics as usual!
No change with the Obambi/Bite me ticket! This will play into how woman are treated by Democrats, no respect.

Duhhhh Chris?
The only thing McCain handed Obama was one big hot potato and he has no where to put it without getting burned. That giant sucking sound is all the disgruntled Hillary voters rushing to vote Republican!

Fron Andrew Sullivan.....
The more I think about it, the more staggered I am by the pick. It's totally about electioneering (misguidedly, I'd hazard, but I don't know enough about her to know yet) and fundamentally unserious about governing.

The first criterion for a veep - and I'm simply repeating a truism here - is that they are ready to take over at a moment's notice. That's especially true when you have a candidate as old as McCain. That's more than especially true when we are at war, in an era of astonishingly difficult challenges, when the next president could be grappling with war in the Middle East or a catastrophic terror attack at home. Under those circumstances, we could have a former Miss Alaska with two terms years under her belt as governor. Now compare McCain's pick with Obama's: a man with solid foreign policy experience, six terms in Washington and real relationships with leaders across the globe.

Chris is clueless
Hey Chris, don't you remember what happened to Rick Lazio when he approached Hillary during a debate? If Biden even tries to send her off stage in tears he will send women to McCain - Palin in droves. The fact is that he has a very difficult task - attack her on inexperience and her response will be to point out Obama's total lack of experience. Attack her on foreign policy and she can tout McCain's foreign policy experience and Obama's lack. Attack her on the economy and she can point to a great economy in Alaska, reduced spending, saying no to the bridge to nowhere. Attack her on abortion and she will talk about her Down's syndrome child and what a difficult decision that was and how important that child is to her family. Attack her on lack of time in Washington and she will say that is exactly what the American people want and she can point out his long record of votes on issues at odds with ordinary Americans. If she doesn't make any big gaffes and holds her own in the one debate with Biden she will be a huge plus.

Not just small towns...
... but gun-owning/God-fearing/Clinging-to-their-bibles mid-westerners... The guy (Obama) and Slo-Joe (tell-me-it-isn't-so) Biteone have no end to sticking their feet in their mouths... Gaffes abound! Thanks Pelosi for your contributions as well in educating the Cathloics. Where is Harry Reed these days? Missing his "inputs.."

From Andrew Sullivan
Hey Pet Goat and Andrew.....if she is not qualified to be VP then how could anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty say that Obama is qualified to be President? By your logic he isn't even qualified for the #2 position let alone the big job. What are we supposed to do in the event of a national crisis, hope Obama slips on the ice so Biden can take over?!?!?!? I only hope and pray they take that tact.

Liberal Women! (ie Pet Goat)

FIRST complaint: Women don't get treated fairly.

McCain picks Palin.

SECOND complaint: It's just a stunt.

SOOOO - liberal women think conservative (women) are too stupid to deserve a shot at the White House?

Wow. I think the phrase "eating their young" applies to liberal women like Pet Goat.

Small Town Problems
Mr. Obama's camp's biggest complaint about Governor Palin is that she's a former mayor of a town of 9,000... Does they mean she's just another a Bitter, Bible Toting Gunowning hick like us simple folk in Wisconsin? Or that small town America's concerns aren't really that important in the grand scheme of things?
dooz writes: Friday, August, 29, 2008 5:34 PM
If you don't like the facts...
...make up your own.

The Governor's "only experience is as mayor of a town of 9000". Huh?! They call their mayor "Governor"?!

Sen. Obama, if you're going to lie to us, at least try something less obvious.

(Oh, and btw, Sen., even mayor of a small town trumps CEO of a failed education challenge.)
